+++Reece Burke signs on a two year deal+++

It's a shame as he clearly has quality. But was part of the injury issues on the right side of defence in the first half of the season and hasnt been seem in ages until today - not likely to be seen for a while...
If he'd been available even a bit more I'd say worth another year contract as a back up option. Unfortunately today's injury was the straw that broke the camels back for me. Need options we can rely on.6 -
He’s got another year, plus a 1 year club option.cantersaddick said:It's a shame as he clearly has quality. But was part of the injury issues on the right side of defence in the first half of the season and hasnt been seem in ages until today - not likely to be seen for a while...

Did not realise that. I take it back - useful back up option next year.Scoham said:

I thought when he joined that it was a clever signing. Yes he was injury prone, but all we needed was for him to be available for a handful of games to cover Lloyd. Unfortunately, that’s a luxury too far and he’s done nothing to warrant his place in the squad. The more we see of Jones’s mates, the more it’s obvious they shouldn’t be here!

I genuinely don’t think he’s that good, way too slow.
massively overrated by many and a liability

Felt for him, not sure why, with his injury record, he was starting for the first time in a few months without any sub appearances1

To avoid overplaying Sichenje I assume.BigRedEvil said:Felt for him, not sure why, with his injury record, he was starting for the first time in a few months without any sub appearances3 -
He’s as much use as a Chocolate fireguard if he keeps constantly getting injured
To be fair to him he should never have signed but that’s down to Jones not to him for taking the contract offered to him7 -
Has he actually been good? always seen him as meh whenever he has played for us4
-
Feel sorry for the guy as he obviously doesn't want to be injured but we can't keep someone like this. Just pay him up in the summer and get rid.2

Yeah he’s gotta go1

I dunno. He's under contract and has some quality even if he has struggled with injuries. The issue thos season was he was cover for both Jones and Ramsay which is mad for someone with his injury record. We now have Collins who can cover both roles.
Would the below be such a bad set up?
Ramsay Collins
Jones Burke
Bell New
Plus Edwards who can fill in at LCB if required and Clarke (or someone like him) who can do the same on the right.
Even with Bell and Burke having injury history I think that is enough.0 -
Think that's a bit of a mad take, he can't play 20 minutes without injuring himself and isnt good enough that you can use the Chuks excuse of "at least he causes havoc when he comes on"cantersaddick said:I dunno. Depends who the new signing is but i don't think it'd be great as you've got 2 of them (Bell and Burke) who can break down at any minute and you don't really want to be having to shift your wing backs inside to cover, as then you have the issue of who will play wing back.cantersaddick said:I dunno. Assuming we have 2 for each wing back position that's still more depth than we have now and have had at any point this season.0

Back lines work and thrive on consistency.
A back line will never have consistency if Reece Burke is one of the main players1 -
Ramsay will be gone in the summer, making the signing of Burke even worse.2
-
Like him think he’s a good player, but that’s 3 separate times he’s had to be hooked during games because of injuries, he makes a good squad player but can’t trust him to even stay fit enough for when either Ramsay/Jones need a rest.Best ability Is availability have to get him gone this summer1
-
Jones biggest flaw is that he is too enamored with players who used to be good for him but haven’t been good for the last couple years. Burke, Alan Campbell, Berry1
-
In fairness Berry helped get us of L1, Burke has been decent besides the injuries, Bell has been nothing short of incredible. It’s only Campbell who’s been absolute dross. Really don’t mind him going with what he knows it’s just incredibly boring and safeBostonaddick said:Jones biggest flaw is that he is too enamored with players who used to be good for him but haven’t been good for the last couple years. Unlikely that we can find a taker for him in the summer. We’ll see him muster a few token performances next year, then he’ll leave on a free summer 2027. Some of you will still say “good squad player” or “offer him pay as you play”
5 -
He’s under contract so he’ll still be here next season. No one else will take a gamble on his fitness and certainly not at the wages we are paying him.1
-
Funny how we always find ourselves with these kind of players and are horrible at getting them off our books2
-
I don’t see how someone that is never fit can be a “good squad player”. Steve Brown was a good squad player , Keith Jones .3
-
Maybe he'll be better with a full preseason with our team next season..... One can hope0
-
He got injured during pre-season and didn’t feature for ages after that wouldn’t bank on it. At least we 100% no we can’t rely on him to stay fit now so hopefully we go into next season carrying an additional cbscruffle said:Maybe he'll be better with a full preseason with our team next season..... if his goal against Sheffield Wednesday in October is the one that keeps us up - then he was well worth the money!3
