He's physically and technically not Championship standard, he's only looked half decent coming on in the 80th minute when everyone is gassed.
His technical ability and attacking play is his main strength. He’s never played below this level.

Physically though I agree he’s not what we need, the way we play we’re better with midfielders who bring pace and/or energy.
Take your point that he's never played below this level, but he's also never been deemed good enough to be a regular starter at this level.

There's a reason he was deemed surplus to requirements at Blackburn
I think he wasn’t the biggest problem today .
I agree.  Difference between him and the likes of Skipp, Ouma, and Bindon though is that JRC isn't new.

Our aggregate score on games he has started is 14-3 to opposition teams.

I would rather have kept Docherty.

Done himself no favours today, he doesn’t have the excuse of not being familiar with championship football and lack of experience. Any time he has done well has been in a cameo role, needs to step and take his chances because he will run out of them.

As mentioned by many after West Brom, he’s probably best coming off the bench and playing “super sub”.

Today didn’t dissuade me from that opinion.

And that’s fine, he’s already made an impact twice doing it this season - first setting Leaburn free for the Derby winner and second in midweek at the Hawthorns. It’s a squad game.

Docherty wasn’t up to it .  Costello might not be either

Keep him on the bench from now on, much better when games are more open, and other players are at his physical level
