Seems like a versatile signing, but, it is another signing who comes with play time issues, let's hope we can get the play time out of him.

    24/25: 29 Apps - 1237 minutes - 42 mins p/g

    23/24: 27 Apps - 1674 minutes - 62 mins p/g

    22/23: 24 Apps - 2010 minutes - 82 mins p/g

    21/22: 10 Apps - 573 minutes - 57 mins p/g

    20/21: 14 Apps - 1083 minutes - 77 mins p/g

    19/20: 11 Apps - 697 minutes - 63 mins p/g

These are quite low numbers. I will say his goals and assists are pretty decent in that time, 6 goals & 13 assists, but it is still a player who doesn't appear to be available all too often. Blackburn fans seem to be saying the same also, as much as he is good.

If he is expected to start in our midfield, his record is a concern, but hopefully this is all behind him and he is ready to be a consistent championship starter, not a bit part player.
What we don’t know is how many of those missed minutes are due to injuries, and how many are due to not being picked, subbed on/off during games etc.
Yeah, sort it out eh @Braziliance

He had a choice of a couple of London clubs, Charlton and Chelsea. But said he didn't want to go to Chelsea...

    Sorry, I'm only human.

I genuinely think it's a good signing anyway, great option to have.

I worry about him coming South for the first time. He may take time to adjust, when we need him to hit the ground running. Tracey will need to earn her stripes.

Looks a good signing though as I'm not convinced Docherty is really championship material.
No Tracy Leaburn will have him all sorted and feeling welcomed. 😉

Pleased with this signing, as I have been with the others. Building a very capable squad. Not surprised at a few negative comments from the usual suspects, not enough games, must have injury issues, blah de blah.

Welcome Joe, hopefully we can add Apter over the weekend. Very happy with our business thus far.

Players can become very different under different managers. I think Nathan Jones improved at least half of that team last year

Good stuff.  6 in before the first pre season game

a couple more most likely I imagine as well.  I think there will be a few our the door now.  Nothing against Mitchell but he’s well down the pecking order.  Ahadme needs to go, and Terry Taylor couldn’t break into NJ’s plans in League One.  After that, a few of the youngsters need to go on loan

A good window.  Would love 3 more

Don't think Taylor will be off this window, pretty sure he's out injured until around the end of the year, so maybe a loan in January

Not from the Blackburn supporter interviewed on yesterdays podcast by @LouisMend and Rich Cawley  . He said he preferred him as a midfielder.
I meant more the injury issues
Third player we've signed where fans of former clubs have said decent player .............. if you can keep him fit.

Hmm time will tell.................... Hopefully Abbot can keep Costello fit  :#

    Solid signing --

    Very smart business so far.

Building a solid unit of players -

We need a little more flair, the boy from Blckpool would be excellent.

In recent seasons, he has been described as an "attacking full back."

The review I got from a Rover-supporting mate:

"Decent player just too inconsistent, some games he was genuinely unplayable, then the past season just regressed and couldn’t cement a place. Could turn in to a great signing.
Played everywhere for us! Mainly fullback but also centre mid too - I wouldn’t say flair player, very busy but capable of something class at times."

The last sentence sounds like the kind of midfielder we're after, maybe has more about him on the ball than Doc but can do the nasty pressing and be busy off it.

This view has boosted me on this signing - until then i was looking at him as an injury prone utility player and for the first time this window, was feeling a bit dissappointed - i'm now looking at him and thinking if NJ can get some consistency from him, he's the next Steven Gerrard!!!

In JRC and Carey it sounds like we’ve added a couple of players who can drive forward with the ball in midfield. Definitely something we needed more of in that area, taking some pressure off the wide players to offer that.

Sounds like injuries have held him back recently. Hopefully we can keep him fit and get him back to previous levels. Looks a threat on the right.

I think the most promising aspect of the transfer is JRC is saying he wants a fresh challenge after being at Blackburn since he was a kid. Which puts him in the Curbs ‘something to prove’ category.
That coupled with the reviews that he’s an all action type of player, and with a manager who demands and respects that style of play, means he’ll hopefully rediscover the form he showed two years ago.

The Aneke route , 25 class minutes is better than 90 of utter dross ….
This is a dice roll and I like a gamble , good luck JRC

Lots of mixed reviews about him and his injury problems worry me. We just have to pray Dr Abbott can keep him fit and Coventry doesn’t miss many games - we’d be in huge trouble if we have to start Anderson and Docherty together.
