Tough job in the championship!! I normally book hospitality packages for my trips to the valley but all the 12.30 ko times makes that not very appealing

What a fabulous name, like a character from a Jane Austen novel.
    Welcome, Alice.

    Welcome.

All wary of rugger types in football but maybe that was the best work she could get until a job in a proper sport turned up

Hopefully it's more Alice in Wonderland than Alice In Chains during her time here

    • Proven track record in sports partnerships, including working for some of the biggest names in world sport - England rugby, Arsenal
    • Global and cross-cultural experience in English-speaking markets, from which Charlton will be aiming to bring in sponsorship, commercial deals, players and fans - England, United States, Australia
    • Leadership in commercial delivery - headed up a team of ten at Arsenal
    • Versatility in sport and partner services – having cut her teeth in versatile roles, ranging from team service coordination to partnership activation
    What's not to like?

Plus, of course, she has a name that's a headline-writer's dream.

With such a strong CV, the club must have sold her a very compelling story to make her want to join. It's an area that needed strengthening and will add to how seriously the club is wanting to progress. Let's hope we can survive the Championship and build up even further. I am getting good feelings about this current set up.

What changes do we want to see?

Seen a few people mention the slow speed at bars before games and at HT, which I agree with. Not sure whether it would fit within AL’s remit, but it baffles me why they don’t pre-pour a load of beers just before half time. Get the first 30 pints served immediately and that changes everything.

anything else? I personally think the fan zone has been a great addition, so anything to improve that would be great.

Just replace draught beers with bottled beers.

The food outlets are awful , (especially in the Alan Curbishley stand and the Covered End). lack of food choice . Long queue's and uninterested staff.  I agree the Fanzone is an improvement.

The stuff like queues and customer footprint is Ops rather than Commercial territory. Alice would be securing sponsorships, commercial partnerships, any ways to supplement the Club's income, and maybe think about a change from e.g. Delaware North (if necessary). There's a bit of cross-pollination but the stuff like how quickly pints are poured is an ops thing, and the Fan Zone is probably a bit of everything.

She also looks like a really decent hire for a football club of our size, and the ongoing commitment to this off the field is very good to see. I have worked on Premier League commercial director roles before and while she might be a tiny bit light for some of those, it's a really good sign that off the field we're taking such a professional approach to how we can build out our staff too.

There is something to he said for pre poured beers.
I thought we used to do it a few seasons ago anyway didn't we?

Was at Edgbaston last week and it just works. Same as Ally pally.Hardly any queues.
I think the problem we may have is serving food alongside beer. The two should be separated imo

"Alice, welcome on board.  It's great to have you.  Now, I know you're really keen to bring together some exciting and lucrative partnerships and you've talked about how we can develop commercial relationships with some of the most important media brands around the world, with the concomitant revenue streams we'll be able to generate, both at home and overseas.  But, we've got one task we'd like you to get on with straight away".

    "What's that?"

"Well, you know when you queue up for a pint at half time and it takes ages to get served..?..."

I mentioned pre-pouring to the woman on the Fuller’s black cab stand and she said customers don’t like it, which is strange because that’s quite common for stout.

Man Utd and Peterborough do this, so no idea why we would have an issue

From what I have been hearing, this appointment was much needed, we may be in the Championship but the corporate side of the club is definitely not fit for the Championship.
  • She’s got all the letters of Charlton in her name except the last one, so sounds good to me.

In the same way we should never sign players from Ipswich, we should never recruit executives with links to Arsenal. Have we all forgotten Ben Kensell and Tony Keohane so soon?

I get it maybe for a hand pumped pint of good quality real ale, but for a pint of mass produced lager out of a gas tap, who rally cares? No way most people would be able to tell any difference in a blind taste test.

They do it at my local NHL arena and it works well. They have separate concession counters for craft beers that you can choose to queue up at if you want a better brew.

Good idea. And if they fail to sell as many as 30, the remainder would be ready for the next home match two weeks later. Mind you, I am not a beer drinker ...
