Asked Nathan Jones about Steve Schumacher's comments on Rob Apter.

Quite pointed comments from Jones there. Much less positive than I thought they would be. Once again you get the sense that Jones isn't happy with the effort being put in by Apter to carve his place out and improve; Jones is hard work first and everything after that is a bonus but the implication is that Apter has been too negatively affected by everything not going perfectly and needs to improve his mentality if he's going to get anywhere1

Was scrolling on twitter and saw a comment about Apter that looked really harsh thought I’d take a deeper dive and these are the last 15-20 consecutive comments on apter from Bolton fans… looks like we have another Ahadme 2.0 on our hands except this one cost 2-3x as much 😬

I can only judge a player on what I’ve seen of him and when he started her looked great other than the Southampton game . To say he’s another Ahadme is lazy .There’s definitely a good player In there and I’ve not given up on him even if those Northern monkeys at Bolton have .
He just needs his confidence building up , the problem is I’m not sure that’s one of Nathan Jones’s specialties.9 -
I feel like all the little digs from his family etc point towards a bit of a falling out between Apter and Charlton/Jones, meaning he'll not be reintegrated and we'll look for a sale/loan again in the summer.0

Jones demands hard work, effort and discipline. If you can’t offer that then I think you’re well and truly persona non grata. Don’t see him starting for us again.1

I'm getting Charlie Kirk vibes4

I just don't think he's as good as some seem to remember him being. The cynic in me believes this is likely due to fans not yet being bored or frustrated by him, and the improvement every player makes once they actually stop playing.
He definitely showed flashes because he was direct and willing to put a cross in, but I thought he was quite lightweight and predictable at times, too. I just don't think he had the top end technical and creative qualities that justify the lack of defensive work rate; the fact he's not performing well in League One backs this up for me. I remember a post that showed how he seemed to get assists and goals in bunches last year. All attacking players thrive on confidence, so maybe he just needs the end of season to come and he can reset (either with us or elsewhere) and kick on.
I know he has a high chances created statistic (not sure how many of these are from corners?), but if he's not willing to sacrifice, defend and play for the team then I'm not sure he's a player I'd want in the team.5 -

Some of our fans massively overrated him, it mostly the "Jones out" lot who thought we should be changing our whole system to accommodate Apter and that Jones was ruining us by not playing him. Since then we stuck with our system and have stayed up, and Apter has struggled in a system that fits him. He had a good start in August but other than that was just ok or poor, and reading between the lines he didn't take getting dropped very well.elbiglad said:I just don't think he's as good as some seem to remember him being. I don't think he's the answer for us on the right hand side. He's lost a lot of value this season, so I'd loan him to league 1 again and hope he puts up some half decent numbers again so that we can recoup some of the fee we paid3 -

Maybe the odd one or two after a loss but from what I've seen nearly every one on here seems supportive.
With regards to Apter, from what I can remember (as it was so long ago that he played for us) he seemed ok but not outstanding. As usual though, for some, anyone who's not playing suddenly become the best player we've got. 🤔0 -
This is all so bizarre - he looked great when he came in.... then didnt really do that much wrong. And before you know it he is dropped and shipped out.
What the hell has happened here?3 -
I do hope there might be some skill and passing ability added at some stage .ShootersHillGuru said:Jones demands hard work, effort and discipline. If you can’t offer that then I think you’re well and truly persona non grata. Don’t see him starting for us again.

Lack of passing ability hasn’t stopped Jones picking TC for most games .wmcf123 said:

It’s not even the shipping out that confused me because you can tell he’s not what jones wanted. But it’s the fact he’s dropped a division and now playing in a better formation, system, style he should be thriving and he’s somehow gotten worseDamoNorthStand said:This is all so bizarre - he looked great when he came in.... then didnt really do that much wrong. The comments about confidence from Schumacher, how some people didn't want to stay by NJ and how often NJ praises performances and effort in training does suggest some kind of mentality issue but it's very much reading between the linesCrispywood said:

There was in December/January, and they were all saying Jones should be sacked and we should change formation and play Apter. In hindsight they might have been slightly wrongsouthamptonaddick said:
