I didn't see the match but this all sounds a tad OTT for Fullah with the first fitness match against a Croatian team who are decent but matches of 45 minutes are for players to get minutes into their legs. It's still a positive as there are 20 match day positions up for grab which is a new situation for Charlton. We know there will be several 21's and under in the match day squad as that still appears to be the DNA of Charlton Athletic. I'm looking forward to the competition once the squad are up to speed and we are in the last couple of friendlies.
No obvious injuries today ?
Yep it's still very early days, there will be plenty of second guessing what our eventual line up will be against Watford and they may be a couple more coming in.
The guns are firing... Because HNK Gorica... YOU'VE...BEEN... SUNK!!
No such thing as a friendly when Charlton play. Great result. May the wins keep on coming as it creates a habit and an attitude that it is what we should be trying for in every match.
Thanks for all the updates.
Safe journey back to the police cordon, if the locals look a bit miffed!
Nice finishes for our goals and Kaminski was immense when he had to be. Really do think going to be one of the more underrated deals in the Championship this season, great keeper when he is on.
Olaofe seems to lose concentration a bit at times(Yes I know short highlights haha but just in general), but scored for fun at times with Stockport and know NJ will get the best out of him.
Overall, a good performance it seems against a decent side, in a beautiful setting.
More positives than negatives I would think and sure at least a couple more dudes to come in.

It's not, it's just the first or one of the first times many have seen him.
The more I watch him the more I believe he's comfortably our best prospect in the u21s. We've got a good group of academy players on the fringes across the pitch, but he's one of the youngest having only turned 18 in April. The goal today, the long range effort that was saved and his interview showed both his talent and confidence.
He's not been moved up early because he outruns and outmuscles everyone, he's continually made progress by being a very good footballer. On the physical side, he's mobile and agile, and although not a big presence, I've never felt he's looked too lightweight at u21 level, despite only being 17 for most of last season.
As NJ said when he signed his new deal a few months ago, he handled every level he's played at. In 23/24 he won his first pro deal by the end of the season, scored some outrageous goals and moved up the u21s a year early (18 goals + assists that season at u18 and u21 level in 29 games, according to the club's X account).
He had no issue with the step up to the u21s, continuing to score and create goals, all while being moved between CM, RWB and LWB - sometimes during games.
I have no doubts about his technical ability and football intelligence - he can run with the ball, make space with a one two, pick a killer pass but know when to keep possession, smash a shot in from distance and calmly finish inside the box. All as equally well with either foot - he's said himself he doesn't know which is his strongest. I expect he could take a set piece equally well with his right or left.
Defensively he wins the ball through interceptions, reads the game well, stays on his feet and uses his body effectively to get in between the ball and the opponent.
We need to give players like him a chance when they're ready - it gives them a reason to sign pro with us and shows younger prospects there's a reason to stay/sign with us, as long as they show the talent and the right attitude. With 9 subs we've got room to ease him into the first team this season, being in the Championship shouldn't be a reason to hold him back.
If you've never seen his season highlights it's worth watching, as is the clip with some of his u18 goals in 23/24.

Amongst all us amateur scouts and pundits on here, @Scoham is one of the best in terms of identifying his onions, so this is a very encouraging assessment.
One of the issues I have with AMB comes up in those highlights.
When he makes a save, and he does make some good saves, he always puts the ball back into a dangerous area. He rarely makes the ball safe. (I.e. put it out for a corner).
I didn't see the full squads that went to Slovenia. However, I don't think Rylah was included. Presumably slipped down the pecking order. Think he only has one year left of his contract left. He was considered a great prospect at one time and is older than Fullah. Anyone got any other insights?

He played for the U21s the other day. Needs a decent loan I think
Cheers Scoham with the info 👏🏼 i hope Nathan doesn't go OTT with praise for Fullah if he gets 1st team game time in a full match as he did with TC and said he was as good as any young player he had in the Premier ! TC's form dipped as he just couldn't live up to that high acclaim.
Lovely to know that the quality is picking up again over the last couple of seasons after losing many 10 to 16 year old to the poachers from the top rated academies who have carte blanche to either get young kids to train with them or sign with their academy at a certain age with their parents permission.

Agree with this on Rylah. I can see why the club gave him a 3 year pro deal at 17, he’s technically decent, will use either foot, has pace, and looks big and strong enough physically.
Where I think he struggles is decision making, composure, reading the game etc, and that was really highlighted in his first team cameos.
A loan playing regular men’s football will challenge him a lot more than u21 football, where he’ll always get a few goals and assists, and inconsistency is less of an issue in the more open and less physically intense games.
