Not a Sabbath fan but liked the song Changes - esp the version with his daughter.

What a shame, but he did well to make it that far and certainly went out with his boots on after the farewell gig a couple of weeks ago, An endearing guy and a very important figure in British music. RIP

A few years ago I read the Motley Crue book called 'The Dirt' (Netflix have done a loose recreation)

Crue regarded themselves as the maddest and baddest out there and done some outrageous things.

There outlook changed after they went on tour with Ozzy...

Probably the greatest book written in the history of literature!

Ozzy snorted a line of ants.

For the record I think Motley Crue are an atrocious band and I owe a great deal of gratitude to the city of Seattle.

I thought it was accepted that he didn't actually bite a real bats head off but it seems to be reported as fact!

  • Don't know a lot of Black Sabbath stuff, but love Paranoid. By all accounts a thoroughly nice bloke.

Still in mourning. Part of my youth, a major part. Lucky enough to have seen them at their peak around 1973-4.

    RIP Ozzy

He did, the story seems to be that he assumed it was a rubber toy but it was in fact the real thing! Had weeks of very unpleasant medication afterwards, definitely not one to try at home.

Never really been a metalhead but I like the occasional blast of the heavy stuff, Sabbath and Motorhead top of the list.

    RIP

    RIP Ozzy

Went to Ozzfest at Donnington a few years back.
Main memory of the day though was that it pissed down and 2 girls stripped down to their undies and wrestled in the mud.
    Ozzy would've approved 👍

A lovely touch from Oasis tonight at Wembley, paying respects to Ozzy during Live Forever before dedicating Rock And Roll Star to him.

There is a story on the BBC website about Black Sabbath announcing their name change from Earth to Black Sabbath on their 1969 tour of Cumberland.

BBC News - 'Black Sabbath loved Workington and we loved them' - BBC News

    This bit amused me:

"Music promoter Andy Park had booked Earth across 20 venues, but can remember one particular night at Low Hesket Village Hall, in Carlisle, for all the wrong reasons.

He told BBC Radio Cumbria: "They died an absolute death and all I can remember is the caretaker kept coming into the hall looking for me and he came across to me and his words were so simple - 'it's a dance, make them dance'.

"So he expected me to get 150 people up on the dance floor."

Mr Park said the crowd at the village hall were more used to country dances.

"I cringe at that it even now," he added."

Poor Sharon, she looked so frail and broken, which is understandable, it was an emotional visit to the flowers on Black Sabbath Bridge...

100% agree on this. Personally I found it disrespectful the chanting whilst she was there. Maybe that's just me...
