Are we allowed to reciprocate pricing or is there a limit linked to home fan prices?
I think you have to charge the away fans the same price you are charging home fans in the equivalent stand. So our away prices are the same as Coverend end lower
Which is a drawback of making that the cheapest part of the ground. It means we can't rip off away fans
So the owners spend in excess of £10M on players. Some of our fans react by complaining that the coach is £5/£10 over priced. A factual observation, not necessarily a criticism.
Bit of a harsh comment. If the average ticket price for every away works out to approx £35, attending every away would cost £805, hardly throwaway cash over the course of a year, not including travel, and more expensive than a lot of yearly/monthly bills for most people.
I know attending the majority of games cost me more than any other household bill except my rent, it's a hell of a commitment to attend away games and people shouldn't be mocked for highlighting how expensive it is.
Correct me if I’m wrong but is the coach company based around the Margate area? Added costs on to the customer in petrol or diesel plus wages for said drivers travelling up to the pick up stops
Also the coach to Bristol Rovers last October was £23, so about a 50 per cent increase based on the area travelling to
Good spot re price for Rovers last season. Some one is making a good profit.
Never like that when CASC ran the coaches and Trains.
So which coach company would you recommend then clever clogs?

£35 to get to Bristol picked up from your local town don’t seem to unreasonable to me
The reality is you can run it for half that and if the club overcharges to that extent someone probably will in the end.
Watford charged £20 to Bristol City in April and are charging £12 to The Valley.
I've never been on the away coaches so don't know what they are like, but assume they have toilet facilities on board and are of a comfortable nature. Most services can be run cheaper but in the end the product is dire, we know this only too well.

£78 per adult, before food and drink and dragging along any junior family members. Going to be some pretty sparse away ends for us.
If you are talking about coach £35 & ticket £33 that's £68.
I think I have a blind spot for 33 +35. Like when I worked in the bookies I went through a phase of paying out punters a 20 instead of a 10 when counting out winnings. Didnt last long in that job.

I think the fear (for me at least) is a shift in attitude to fans taking root, where market forces are let loose, and no subsidy to get to away games, against a background of excessive match ticket costs. Many of us got the bug and a lifetime commitment from away games and if that route is diminished it's another detriment to building the support base.
This question will have been asked alot but how many supporters are there in each pts band - how many are in Cat 1 600 club & the other pts bands & Valley Gold, I have 520pts and this year is my first as a Valley Gold member....does that mean phase 5 as a Valley Gold member qualifies me or do i have to wait to Phase 7 with 520 pts? I've only managed 3-4 aways per season in 55+yrs and this season is first one i have time to add to my rather shallow list of 38 grounds visited....
Phase 5: 550 loyalty points and Valley Gold - Wednesday, July 30th @ 2pm

I'm guessing part of having so many phases is because of the new ticketing system, more points = better seats to choose from. Of course that falls down when you arrive and no one is in their assigned seat
They have an impressive ST count so their demand may mean that’s all we’re getting
Having looked at the map, we have the 3 middle blocks with the blocks either side empty so there isn't any reason we couldn't have more unless of course they want the end blocks blocked off as doesn't make sense to have home fans on both sides of the same stand.

The club doesn’t operate a professional coach service. It doesn’t staff them, it doesn’t provide support on matchdays. It relies on volunteers, just as CASC did. There is no difference between the standard of coaches whether they are run by the club or the fans -and the latter were far more invested in it.
The ethos of the Charlton coach service going back decades has been to provide a good value method of getting as many fans as possible to away games. In the process CASC and the club have made some profit, which enabled CASC to employ a member of staff and, later, the club to subsidise Valley Express, which generates ticket revenue for it.
The club has over time abandoned this model, trying to break even on Valley Express, almost certainly cutting its ticket revenue in the process.
Bristol City looks on the face of it to be a move towards a 100% mark-up on a full coach. A decade ago, we would make more profit by running more coaches at lower fares, which involves accepting a small level of risk. Some you win and some you lose.
I don’t think the club’s spending and operating losses come into a discussion of the right fare because 1) higher prices do not necessarily equal more profit and 2) if the higher fare is unaffordable to you the club’s expenditure on players is irrelevant. You do not owe the club or its owners your food or electricity budget.
it should be obvious that some people do not attend away games because they are unaffordable to them.
It’s almost impossible to run away coaches at a loss unless you set out to do so, but trying to extract the maximum profit from the most committed and often least affluent supporters is a choice which should be made consciously by people who understand that is what they are doing. In the end, it’s a trivial financial decision to the club but a more significant cultural one.
Yes, their stadium map indicates Away Fans exclusivity so on second thoughts looks good for more . I agree with Airman that we will sell out what I hope is an initial allocation

Twenty is plenty, should never be more imo.
I assume though that City's wind up merchants would already have purchased theirs by that time in that stand though.
