RIP Jorge. Fantastic CB. One of if not the best CB I have seen in a Charlton shirt.

    Just shocking news.

A brilliant footballer, absolutely immense for us, I wish we could have kept him.

Unbelievable to hear he has died.

Somewhat eerie that he and CBW were signed and announced at the same time and both players taken so young

Jorge Costa, football director and former captain of FC Porto, has died. The news was confirmed by CNN Portugal a few minutes after it became known that the Dragons' manager had been admitted to São João Hospital in cardiorespiratory arrest.

    RIP

If not the best, one of our very best players in the last 30 years. I did a stadium tour of Porto a couple of years ago and my wife couldn't understand why I was so giddy to see multiple giant Jorge Costa pictures and memorabilia everywhere. A legend. One of my all-time favourite Charlton players.

    RIP

Absolutely gutted by this news. Not sure many players have been so fondly remembered and highly rated by our supporters despite such a short career with us. What a player he was. RIP

Could be said to be our greatest ever loan signing. With us only a short few months but left so many wonderful memories, a true cult hero.

A warrior on the pitch, a gent off it.

    RIP JC

One of those players that seemingly rose above traditional football rivalries, every Portuguese person I've spoken to about football, when Jorge Costa was mentioned, spoke fondly of him, whether they were Porto, Braga, Sporting or Benfica fans.

RIP - an absolute pleasure to watch.  Seemed to defend so effortlessly.  Was never quick, but one of those defenders that read the game so well, he never seemed to be caught out or chasing a player/ball.  Thoughts and prayers with his family and friends

Does anyone remember that tackle from him against Chelsea at home? Think it was Hasselbaink about to pull the trigger and he just took the ball off his foot with ease. Class.

    Edit: it was on Gudjohnsen.
