Even if it's next season, if we stay up thats helpful
Id much prefer them to get hit with it now and hope they get relegated, get rid of 3 big clubs in Wednesday Leciester and West Brom and keep the Blackburn’s Oxford and Pompey’s round for next season. If it’s only a minor points deduction they could easily turn that around in a 46 game season

Imagine all three relegated teams going down with points deductions

3 teams getting deductions and we still go down would be the most Charltony thing ever.

On Sunday it’s Birmingham v Wrexham. I wonder if the losing manager will get the sack at the end of the season. Both clubs have spent a fortune on wages and signings and I don’t buy the narrative on the BBC match thread last night that “plucky Wrexham” have done well to be in the top half, and Birmingham’s form has fallen off a cliff.
Birmingham fans have wanted shot of Davies for weeks z would expect it happens at the end of the season.

Can't see anything changing at Hollywood FC , Parky is probably still in too much credit

    Let me check:
1/7/21 Phil Parkinson joins Wrexham in the National League.

13/4/26 Wrexham are 7th in Championship after having a bad week and dropping out the play-offs. The Hollywood pair have said PP has a job for life. Despite their money, would they want to fund a Premier team in their small ground.
    Parky has over achieved.

Wrexham went for Charlton cast offs and Paul Mullins from Cambridge  before they started recruiting the over 30's forwards from Burnley, Stoke etc as they got promotion after promotion.

I personally feel Parky will be there for 26/27 if he wants to continue and why wouldn't he as Phil is still in his 50's.

Amazing to think if  Leicester had been successful with their appeal against their six points penalty last week they would be on 47 points just 2 behind CAFC and Pompey would be 22nd with 45 points just 4 behind with a game in hand.

    Houston we have a problem.
We were all over the moon when we won at Wembley and spent a lot of the season on cloud nine but we are falling to earth at a rapid rate and we could hit the earth with a bang if the parachutes don't work before we hit Sheffield !

Have I got this right, accounts have to be submitted by 31st December to submit accounts but they have hung it out until march knowing they will probably fall foul of the rules and it's then too late to administer the punishment!
    Football is f#c#*d

Any points deductions should be doubled if accounts are submitted late.

HMRC fine you even if you are just a few days late in submitting your tax return. Same for paying any tax due.

We definitely need a favour from the tractor boys - a Soton win would also be good

Wins for Saints and Ipswich would be a perfect evening for us. Ipswich at Pompey does feel like a banana skin though.

Can't see anything but a Southampton win. Portsmouth can still get a result against Ipswich though.

Tonight’s game will mean Blackburn will have played 43 games, one more than the rest of us.

Their next game is Friday night which will mean they’ll be watching everyone else on Saturday with only 2 games left of their season if results are not favourable to them

Don’t think the results change what we need to do have to win at Sheffield Wednesday, a point could be enough but wouldn’t bank on Portsmouth only winning 1 from 5 or Oxford only winning 1 from 4

Basically need Southampton to win and keep their Play-Off hopes alive, and for Coventry to not choke at their opportunity to win promotion on Friday, even though a draw will do just fine - Sheff Utd / Leciester is the obvious concern with Blackburn's remaining games.
Ipswich on the road have already lost at Oxford and Leicester this season, but then if a trip to Fratton Park is a potential banana skin for them on that basis, then so is a trip to the Valley as well... a win for Ipswich would also be ideal to end Millwall's hopes of the top two, as their other game in hand will be more tricky against Southampton.
Regardless of what happens tonight or even if we beat Sheff Wed, I still expect another twist in the relegation battle

A big Southampton win tonight would be very nice as Blackburn are currently on the same GD as us, and that could also be crucial come the end of the season. However they've been pretty solid recently, only conceding 2 in their last 5 games.

I feel like Portsmouth could nick a draw v Ipswich.

For us to relegated with a win at Sheffield Wednesday 2 of the following need to happen

Oxford: Win 3/4 games (3 playoff teams)
    Leciester: Win 4/4 games ( 1 win in 15)

If Leciester do win all 4 games then we can still stay up w Oxford outcome +1 or 2 other team below don’t reach this outcomes

pompey: Win 2/4 (2 automatic sides to play)
Blackburn: 4 points from 3 (1 playoff, 1 automatic and sheff U away to play)

West Brom: win 2 and draw 1 (Ipswich still to play- that’s without a points deduction)

And after all that this assumes we also lose our last 3 on the bounce (only done once this season)

If Leicester win 4 out of 4 to stay up it'd probably be the greatest escape in EFL history. They've got 1 win in their last 15.

Spanners handed a 50 point deduction for being, well, spanners.

"That seems a bit excessive" the more charitable would say.

"It's under the totting-up process," counters the Football League, "as they've been ****s for many years so they've been pinged for each year of ****ishness"

I hadn't realised Southampton vs Blackburn was tonight, but with so few midweeks to play the game they had to bring it forward to avoid the FA Cup clash.

Soton have such a strong squad, they can rotate to cope with all these midweek games.

They are racing towards a potential promotion AND already have a day out at Wembley in the FA Cup. If they’ve got players that are too tired to play Saturdays and midweek and be at the top of their game in each successive match in that scenario they are screwed anyway. Their best team at this stage is the one that has the same players starting on merit every match.

Yes if Blackburn lose to both Southampton and Coventry tonight and Friday, they’d still be a point behind us with only two games left compared to our four.

Would present a massive opportunity to put four points between us and them on Saturday. And with only six points to play for, they’d have a very hard time catching us…

Leicester are basically irrelevant for us at this point in time. If they win 3 more games than we do with only four fixtures left, fair play to them.

Realistically, the aim has to be to staying above one of Oxford, Pompey, WBA or Blackburn.

We really shouldn't be doing this🤦🏻‍♂️

But the losses at home and the confidence draining out of the squad possibly added by having used up all our luck over the season with chances squandered against CAFC, we still need other results to go for us. Plus our own Profligacy in front of goal.

After Barnsley's great escape in the COVID mini league, talk of anyone already being down other than Wednesday is premature.

Definitely we should all be rooting for both Saints and tractor boys tonight.
