Hope they tidy up the dump site and cupboard underneath the screen , there’s no way it can look as cheap and nasty in the flesh as it does in the pic

The useable space on the old screen could fit in under and between steel supports of the new one.
Ah, but is the flange dongle 18x6x4x12 XBC unit up to the task? That's what we all want to know.
Talk like that will stir tingles for more than just @Fanny Fanackapan ☺️
  • Obviously it’s an improvement but it’s a scruffy, shitty little  corner of The Valley and it could do with some sort of screening behind the new screen.

It will drive me crazy that it’s off centre from the poles it’s mounted on.
Glad it's not just me who thought that. Hopefully it's just an optical illusion, but it does seem to be off centre.
I reckon the supports will at some point be covered by fixed boards with vinyl ads/sponsorship/graphics of some kind to prevent the eye wandering to the space behind. Not in the mockup but the old screen’s base was wrapped in vinyl and it makes sense. (Oops, quoted the wrong bit)
Plain boards to surround the screen with no ads as they want the focus to be on the screen and LEDs or so I'm told.

No fixed ads anywhere within the bowl.
Could be wrong, but thought I noticed new fixed boards above the east stage boxes at the Blackburn game.

That’s further up. It’s under the new screen where it looks full of weeds and rubble

My first impression is that I am a bit underwhelmed.
Thought it would be significantly larger, especially after all the fanfare that’s surrounded its creation.🫤
Having said that I suppose we have to wait until we see it in action before we make a final judgment. 🧐

We’ll have to wait to see when it’s installed by I don’t see the point. The old one worked ok, (didn’t it?), and the new one may be bigger horizontally but smaller vertically so therefore no size increase.
What would be good, would be if we were filling that corner with seats and putting in a screen like West Brom’s.
But it's not smaller vertically than the old screen really, and it's way wider
anyone got a tape measure, lets get this sorted once and for all.

Looking at how far up the side of the JS stand it goes, which looks about the same maybe a bit more than the old one, and it’s clearly much wider I can therefore conclude it’s much bigger.

The ’old screen’ was in fact two screens, wasn’t it?. This new screen is only about twice as wide as the smaller bottom old screen.

The difference in replies on here about this screen and social media platforms like twitter is crazy, it's like two completely different sets of fans almost at times.

It's a fkn abomination, it genuinely looks horrendous. I just hope it didn't cost them too much and it isn't as off centre in person.

I’ve just read one comment on there about the fact that now we have a shit tv and one of our players is on TikTok doing his girlfriends hair the games gone.

If only that was all we had to worry about in the world.

    Jaysus 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

It is a cesspit but every now and then it throws up a peach 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

What is the difference then? (I'm not on Twitter)

Is "social media" more pro or more anti, because there are both sets of views on here.

The main difference I can tell is on X it’s a proper meltdown about how shit it is.
Whereas here it’s more meh whatever.

If it is narrower, surely it will be harder to read the team names ?

you could have a one foot wide screen that went all the way around the ground and it would be ‘bigger’ than the old screen, but you wouldn’t be able to read anything !

No-one has actually seen it in “action”, but everyone seems to have an opinion already.  It’s just like having a new signing really 🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

I've sent back my season ticket.

I don't care if we're in the championship, have a good manager, team and owners.

If a new screen that isn't finished and I haven't seen in action isn't three times bigger than the old one and isn't 4D then I can't bear the shame of being associated with this club.

PS I reserve the right to change my mind after the Sheffield Wednesday game.

On here it feels like no one seems bothered how bad it is, on twitter and instagram it feels like 90-99% who are commenting are calling out how bad it looks.

I know people will say there is more to worry about etc, but that would have undoubtedly cost the club money, I don't know how much, but it wouldn’t have been dirt cheap, and it genuinely looks awful. Who gives that the go ahead.

I hope that the team line ups will be clearer to see.  I would have thought this to be the main purpose of the scoreboard.

Your season ticket could have got you a free ticket for the women's game tomorrow and see the new screen in action.

Twitter was before it became a place for the terminally online weirdos it attracts now.

Twitter or X, or whatever the ketamine addict is calling it today, isn’t representative of anything, and so 99% of those looking for attention will say something edgy to either get attention or not stand out.
