No...but if i manage to get in at phase 7 i am going to buy 2, and take someone who doesn't support Charlton so we can have a good day out...It’s my reward after all.
Do you seriously think that happens?
You’ve literally just made that up in your own head.
Pretty much all they post in this thread. Complete make believe stuff about other fans because they have to wait until phase 7.
Pretty much every single away match thread as well. It's not like it's hard to move up the phases
it is if you cant get a ticket cos some berk brings along his mate.
You have plenty of opportunity to move up the phases so that you don't miss out on the 2 games a season that don't make general sale. It's not an impossible task like following England or some of the prem clubs, the vast majority of our away matches don't even require points to get a ticket.
One issue is that the more games are on restricted sale, the more difficult it is for people to qualify when they can already pick up the second ticket from family and friends. I am really not going to contact the club to allocate a ticket I've already bought to my daughter, say, when I can get her a ticket on my account. I don't think you can do that yourself online, so the people with the points continue to accumulate them (from the first ticket purchase each time) and the people who accompany them never accrue the necessary points, which aren't recorded, from the second ticket even though they go.
You could argue, of course, that this just means the "two each" model works better than some people assume.
You can allocate a ticket to someone online providing they meet the points at the time of buying.
But here lies the problem. Lets say someone kindly buys me a ticket when I don't have enough points to buy one myself. I have paid for a ticket, travelled to a game etc but cannot (easily) get the points. If this happens 5-10 times over a season I could easily lose out on being bumped up a phase and being eligible, I am then hoping my kind friend doesn't want to bring along someone else each time. You should still be able to assign the ticket regardless of if they meet the threshold, otherwise they cannot gain enough points themselves
If that happens 5-10 times a season, then there is still 130-180 points up for grabs for you to very easily accrue, plus any cup games.
There is no problem with the current system and people really need to stop suggesting alternatives that benefit them for the handful of away games they want to go to.
To be clear, I am not trying to benefit myself. I cannot go to QPR, I cannot go to lots of games and I have no problem with my loyalty points at all.
I just think it’s mad that there are some people (and there will be some) who go to a decent chunk of away games but don’t see the benefit of their loyalty. I cannot see a valid reason that they shouldn’t be allocated their points easily
That's just simply not the case, if you go to a decent chunk of away games then you will have a healthy amount of points considering away tickets don't reach general sale maybe 3 times a season.
I wasn't saying you specifically were trying to change the system but this conversation only ever comes up for local away games or those with a small allocation and it's complete nonsense to say it's difficult to build up points, I had a couple of years where I couldn't go as often, within 2 years of going regularly again, I was on 700+, as already mentioned this is not Man Utd or England we're talking about, we didn't even sell 2.5k for Bristol City for the first away game back in the championship after 5 years, we were about 150 short, that's 1,500 loyalty points left on the table and not taken up.
Not really true, because people will get their tickets together in the restricted phase. They don’t wait for general sale - Bristol City being an example. I bought 16 tickets for various people using eight IDs, during the restricted phases. We wouldn’t have said, let’s just buy for the people eligible in any given phase, pay even more booking fees, and take pot luck on sitting together.
i am not saying the system is wrong, btw, just that it doesn’t quite work as you suggest.
Imo this is where the new 'pick your seat' system causes an issue. Otherwise your group could have their own points and just buy for themselves knowing Bristol City was always going to make the late phases/general sale
Based on Bristol City, as well as the friendlies against Southend and Ipswich, people are still sitting anywhere they want in the away end rather than their assigned seats. I didn't see a single person complaining about anybody being in their seat at any of those matches.
Me and my son had to move 3 times before kick off at the Bristol City game where people wanted their allocated seat.
Presumably if you just sat in your allocated seat you would have saved yourself moving 3 times?
I do wish clubs would have a clear blanket policy that either enforces allocated seating or charges a single price and clearly states sit anywhere. It's all very well people casually saying do what you like, but when you are an ageing weedy type it becomes really annoying either trying to get some juiced-up troll out of your seat, or trying to stand your ground when similar type is trying to move you from the one you end up in
I'll be honest, I am all for just sit where you want when all the prices are the same etc, but when you pay extra for a better view cause of the restrictions, you'd feel out of pocket not being there.
For once I will definitely be standing in my allocated area as I don't want a crap view. Usually I don't care
Last time went QPR away your actual seat number and row etc seemed to go out the window and just get a seat where you can, guess it will be the same this time...
Except 918 people have paid up to £8.00 more for a seat than the cheapest option, will they be happy to find somebody with a cheaper ticket in their seat.
Had to settle for restricted view too. Still a fair few available next to each other if you need to buy for a friend
When logged in at 11.10 it said sold out.
That’s what I got, then 5 mins later a whole bunch of restricted view seats suddenly became available. Obviously phased release based on cost
Well done.. When is sold out not sold out... Think the club has handled this poorly.. So it's a luxury seat with a few Stella's or the mighty ebbsfleet for me.
.......without going into it my Valley Gold newly purchased so i could qualify for phase 7, hadn't been linked but a frantic set of calls and emails sorted it and scrapped through and got a couple of tickets. Valley Gold & Ticket office were most helpful to be fair and I did riase the issue about £75 for 2 tkts with restrictive view, Ticket office said they do raise these high away ticket prices with relevant clubs. I also suggested that the club take this up with EFL, seems total madness that Championship Away tickets don't have a £30 cap like prem away tickets......anyway now have QPR Away tickets just looking fwd to going to Loftus Rd, I love atomsphere in the away end and how close all the fans are to the pitch.

gutted as I could have gone mine at 11am but needed to get three tickets, so held out till 4 and by then they’d sold out

It's when it isn't a sell out and all the tickets are the same I don't mind a free-for-all
And whereas previously your alloted seat was random, now with people choosing their seat, people will less reluctant to lose it.
Exactly just sit in your allocated seat when we've sold out our allocation.
People don't want to have the aggro of evicting fellow addicks from their allocated seat but they will!
