I was saddened today to read of his battle with prostate cancer.
An absolute hero of mine, and I was fortunate enough to Ball Boy for him at Wembley Arena back in the 70's and I will never forget his kindness and generosity when he and his manager invited me into his dressing room and signed whatever I wanted.
To find out in later years that he, and his father, were Addicks fans, only cemented my admiration of the man.
Perhaps someone Stevie Brown should consider inviting to the Valley in the future, as I'm sure he'd receive a good welcome.

Yes, saddened to hear that as well. Was he really an Addicks fan or was that an urban myth?0

What a great ambassador he'd be for Tracey's PSI testing!5

Get him on the pitch pre match
Museum visit? Got any Borg items.
What would be the CAFC tour of Sweden he references that got his Grandfather hooked?2 -
Great shout Queenie.3

Must be someone at the club who could make this happen. Great publicity too.1

Didn't know that he was an ’addick. As a keen tennis player, I’ve never been sure who my all time favourite is. This has decided it for me.
Let’s hope that he’s not another hero that passes too soon.
We should get him to do a special tennis crossbar challenge from the penalty spot. He normally got it over the net after all.1 - Sponsored links:

I have got a couple of old pairs of Björn Borg under crackers that I could donate to the museum.
I actually only ever wear BB’s underwear, have done for years……if ever you see me you’ll know what I am wearing. I buy them direct from the factory in Sweden.🥹
Without doubt, my all time favourite player….those games he had with McEnroe were more than a game, they were pure theatre…..a fantastic clash of personalities that kept the fans totally enthralled.McEnroe as mad as a box of frogs 🐸, whilst Borg was the archititle Swedish (cool as a cucumber)🥒, gentleman.
Never been a better time to watch professional men’s tennis than those two gracing the court and shaping up to each other ….IMHO.2 -
Absolutely love BB, he was the reason I got into playing tennis when I was younger, would love to see him at the Valley, but he might be really unwell?0

Did we go to Sweden in the 50s? Pre-war?0 -

I hope Borg recovers from prostrate cancer he's only 69yrs old. (independent link)
I think if Borg was an ADDICK he would have been spotted ar least once at The Valley & there would be photo?...it sounds like a bit of a throwaway comment during an interview relating to his father's support for Charlton?
Anyway he was in that holy trinity of tennis greats of my youth along with McEnroe & Conners....lets get him down to the Valley and on the pitch when hes well enough !

Borg was my main man as a young kid growing up , cool as a cucumber but apparently an angry youngster growing up .
McEnroe was smooth as silk and an angry player
Connors was a complete bellend , loved it when McEnroe destroyed him in the 1984 Wimbledon Final3 - Sponsored links:

Loud mouth American brats was an alien concept to me and I think to many Brits when Connors emerged in the early 70s.
We were still living in the era of English good manners and sporting behaviour.
Over the years we have become more and more like them.
More than '84 back in the day I took greater satisfaction from Arthur Ashe's victory over Connors in the '75 final.
In fact one of my favourite sporting events in my lifetime2 -

Borg was a gentleman as was the late Vitus Gerulaitis. My favourite aside from Borg was Ilie Nastase who was a great character and a magician on the court.3 -
I always thought Vitus Gerulaitis sounded like the sort of tropical disease that would keep you doubled over on the pan for a week. The only thing worse than catching it would be getting a case of the Ilie Nasties.5

Nastase was great to watch as a player, albeit I thought he was a complete knob as a person1 -
