Can't blame Kaminski for that. Headers are very hard for keepers because they have no setting time. You have to hope they are headed near you but that was headed in the bottom corner.6

Would have kept Kelman on and taken TC off initially. Felt Kelman was growing into the game and offered more.
Its a good point and any point on the road is good. The Derby guys header was a good goal, didnt have to put power on it, just enough to nestle in the corner.
Be happy with a draw at Preston but we will see!
Thought Ramsay had a shocker personally. Some of his decisions made him look like like a novice.3 -
Braziliance said:Also surprised to see negative comments about Agyemang, thought he looked a real handful and a player who could live up to his price tag. Thought we struggled physically for a change.
Matt Clarke as well, what a player, best centre back we have come up against so far this season, you can see why Brighton took a plunge those years back.
Not much to say for our boys, thought we looked tired, hopefully we look a bit more lively for Preston.0 -
It must be easier for bald players to head the ball, as they have a bigger forehead to attack it with4

When Kelman clicks, he'll probably do it in style with a perfect hat trick...hopefully Saturday...🙌🙌1

Lloyd Jones and James Bree in the team of midweek.

Lloyd Jones – 8.2 – Charlton AthleticJones anchored Charlton’s defence in a 1-1 draw at Pride Park, helping them extend their unbeaten league run to four games. The centre-back won 9 aerial duels, made 3 tackles, 4 interceptions, and 13 clearances, keeping Derby’s sustained pressure at bay. His composure against Derby’s physical attack and his leadership was vital in securing the point and maintaining Charlton’s strong defensive record.

I just feel like Lloyd Jones should be in the team of the week by default, unless someone else does something truly spectacular3

If you can get your strikers scoring, we’d be a lot higher in the table, probably in the top 6.
If there all still on a low goals tally, maybe that’s where we need to invest in, in January?
Unfortunately we will just have to put up with the fact that we wont score many goals. Our defence is sound so shouldn't let in too many. Not a great watch tbh, but then we all wanted promotion and drawing away to Derby is a lot better than losing away to Burton....so it is what it is.
What are you expecting if you think it's not looked good mate?
It’s not a complaint because I’m very pleased to be out of League One (hopefully for many years) but I don’t see how you can find it ’great to watch.’ I think that you’re too influenced by results if that’s your opinion.
We have our moments of beautiful play like the build up to our goal yesterday, but otherwise we’re a team that play long balls in possession and bite at the oppositions’ heels out of possession. It creates a game of lots of stops and starts and generally attritional football.
I’ve watched 4 games (Watford, Leicester, Millwall, Derby (all on TV so far)) and there is little entertainment. The best was probably Millwall in this respect imo. As a spectator the feeling is akin to how Kelman probably feels playing. That’s probably the best way of describing how I feel actually: if we played to Kelman’s strengths then we’d be playing more free flowing on the ground football which is better to watch.
That said, I just want us to stay up. If we did that by banging it 1000 miles into the air 60 times a match to get 0-0 draws, 46 points and stay up on GD then it would be job done for this and next season.
We had to grind out results at times.
We've evolved massively imho this season, and are playing a better tempo, with more dynamism and end product, be it without a big goal difference, against opposition that are so much more physical, so much more technical and very seasoned to this league and from the prem, with a good handful of clubs in this league being there recently.
The gap between L1 and the champ is Colossus.
Saying there was little entertainment for the games you've watched, especially the Leicester game, is selling us well short.
We're never going to play football like man City or the like, and we may be 'industrious' at times. That's the Charlton way. We pride ourselves to work harder than the opposition , with gulie and skill thrown in for good measure. We are a club of battlers, who make sure IF we are beaten, the opposition will know they have gone to hell and back to achieve that.
This is what Charlton are all about, we will also evolve and be become more fluent as the season progresses.
I'm sure to that we will have a period of losses, as teams learn to deal with us. It's par for the course.
However, we are, and always will be, a club that is greater than the sum of our parts.
These performances we are giving, have been widely commended and praised.
If you're not entertained, inclusive of the way we've conducted our journey back in the championship after many seasons away, I wonder what you're looking for, in us.
I agree that we appreciate hard working players. Supporters want to see a player give 100% but so too do supporters of all other clubs, in all playing systems.
However, it’s not about whether players are hard working or not, it’s about the system of play. To suggest that we’ve always played this system is wrong. By saying ’the Charlton Way’ you are implying that NJ’s brand of football respects Charlton tradition. Really? I don’t think that you’re a newbie so how can you suggest this?
It’s not quite correct to ask ’what I’m looking for’ as I’ve already said that I’m happy to accept this system for the foreseeable future. Long term though it would be nice to have some of what we’ve seen in the past. Lifers have asked earnestly why opposition supporters don’t like NJ, and if you can’t see that then it’s because you’re not able to imagine watching us through the eyes of a neutral, or a supporter who wishes to see the true competences of our players shine through. Carey and Kelman, for example can be players that get you of the edge of your seat but our system strangles this from happening for more than a cumulative 3-4 minutes a match. I suppose that the answer to your question is that I’m looking for a higher cumulative rate than that.0 -
I am just looking at winning football. We have had so much crap in recent years we shouldn't be bothered how we achieve it as long it is within the laws of the game.4

I’ve heard ex-professionals say that it used to take them around 6 games into the season to start to get properly match fit. The intensity of this division so far and the multitude of substitutions probably pushes that out a little longer. That players can look a bit tied, leggy, knackered or whatever is no surprise given how we are battling away all match; and full kudos to those players that are coming on off the bench because they have to instantly get into the pace and rhythm of the match and these look like tough games to do that. We’ve got 4 games this month which should iron out any residual match fitness gaps for everyone that still needs it, then we can start to see where we are and what needs work. In the meantime I’m enjoying the ride and trusting Nathan.1
