Sam Field on a perm would be excellent business. He was good last time he was here and now has a wealth of experience at this level and only 28.We all mentioned him- so glad it’s being followed up on and can’t argue if he goes to Derby over us but glad to see we’re trying at least!14

I hate that this gets posted every deadline day.FishCostaFortune said:
Alright boys I’m settled in.20 -
my info last week (via ex local sports reporter) was a centre mid and centre forward - spoke to one of the two 80+ year old chaps who were party to that info exchange on saturday who admitted he may have misheard when i said can't see another centre forward incoming - he agreed and reckons it must be a CM and Central Defender
anyway, that's my bet and has a lot of logic based on the rumours on here. I think we need more creativity / another winger at least but what do i know - NJ put out 8 defenders on Saturday and we were good so... 3 -
This seems to be where the Nyoni stuff has come from, wouldn't pay too much attention

What does the 599348968th Daniel have to say about this?fenaddick said:This seems to be where the Nyoni stuff has come from, wouldn't pay too much attention

Has Rich Cawley Fielded any questions yet about this rumour?TeeC said:2 -
good player but too similar to coventry and coady surely? - a bit of a plodding passer when we need some legs and physicality?CAFC_boi said:Sam Field on a perm would be excellent business. Field played in that first half against Nottingham Forest which is the best pure footballing half of football I think I’ve ever seen us play.Oztumer also played though, so who knows what that means.16

All this talk about central midfielders, easy response:
Recall Mr Terence Charles Taylor.3 -
Was he good last time he was here? He was barely fit to start with, managed to make 6 starts before being out from October until June then started 4 more games, one where he was hooked at half time. He played 785 minutes (of a possible 4,140 minutes) across 17 games which is an average of about 46 minutes a game. We won 2 of the games he started in and got relegated. He's obviously managed to stay fitter since then but I don't think we can honestly say he was good for us last time we had him.CAFC_boi said:Sam Field on a perm would be excellent business. Is he? How many games has he played in the Championship? Not the sort of loan I’d be happy with, we already have our own 18 year old in Fullah.fenaddick said:
I would be amazed if Liverpool let him out on loan. He's a top end Champ player at the very least, would be some coupraytreacy said:#42 Trey Nyoni

I would welcome the addition of Field. I was encouraged by Coady at the weekend but cautious about that as a long term (rest of the season) fix. After Millwall Jones said he was after a midfielder that could control the game rather than a dynamic, athletic option.
A bit simplistic, but let's say we consider our midfielders to be a holder (typically Coventry) and a box to box (Docherty) behind our '10' (Carey). I do wonder how Coventry would fare in the box to box role. He definitely has the engine for it, and I think his reading of the game and ability to break the play up would suit. I think of Rice's success doing it for Arsenal when he'd traditionally always played deeper. Perhaps the acquisition of Field (and Coady) could see us try that.1 -

Meh didnt want Field anyway... in this weather our Midfield would just get bogged down4

yes, not a bad shout, he has the engine but not sure coventry has the power and pace to suit the box to box roleelbiglad said:I would welcome the addition of Field. Nyoni has been described as a No. 8 with good balance, capable of playing with both feet and having the ability to beat his marker on either side.[26] At an early age, he has drawn comparisons to a young Paul Pogba due to his 'similar confidence and composure', 'tall, slender' build, and 'skillful, intelligent' ability. He's quick on both feet with great composure on the ball and has shown his confidence in the FA Cup. [27]raytreacy said:#42 Trey Nyoni

The few times Coventry has got forward this and last season, he’s been excellent but sounds like Sam Field is off to Norwich so not our potential target.elbiglad said:I would welcome the addition of Field. Not sure an 18 year old is what we need. Gallagher was an exception, a player that age is unlikely to make that sort of impact.CAFCsayer said:

You would expect a box to box midfielder to shoot Conor Coventry doesn’t.elbiglad said:I would welcome the addition of Field. Hasn't played much for QPR this season but has done pretty well for them in recent years. Even got the odd goal for them.0 -
So bring and develop an 18 year old from Liverpool over our own one in Fullah.CAFCsayer said:

yes - a bit young but the next paul pogba or patrick vierra would slot in nicely and before the window got under way the noise wasa bout adding some power and pace so this chap and the foreign central defender would make senseCAFCsayer said:

What if he’s already better? Still ignore him and play someone that’s not ready because he’s our own?The Red Robin said:
