NJ had right footed TC at LWB and left footed Rob at RWB in at least two games. Madness!!!0 -
You mean that the site advertising on CL, promoting shots of 81 year old Angela Rippon in a bikini is only doing it to make money?Bailey said:
Gringo, I don't know if you realise that every time you click on that sight they rack up money because of your click. They splash a headline that draws you in. It's not down to me to decide what you watch or what you believe but, your headline was, 'talking of rumours how about this' and it rightly got trashed. You asked me what sites you should avoid though and I will give you some advice, don't be fooled mate, this site is using your love of Charlton to make money, give them and their fake supporter a wide berth.gringo said:
Why not? sorry to waste your valuable screen time and offend your delicate sensibilities, but we will soon be right back to the red hot and accurate, nailed on rumours that this page normally consists of anytime now.Bailey said:
Could I ask, why this pile of shit was put on here by 'Gringo' and why is anybody commenting about a 'made up fan's' opinion, I blocked this stupid site I would recommend that you do the same, especially 'Gringo'.Scoham said:
Where are there rumours of interest in them?gringo said:Talking of rumours how about this:-

...for total bollocks! Who on earth is this Alfie feller?
This is one of those be careful what you wish for scenarios. TC is our only wide outlet with pace, for all his weaknesses he’s played an important part in keeping us out of the bottom 3 so far.
Leaburn’s improved recently and there’s plenty more to come from him at this level.
If they leave it won’t be to a lower level. They’re both 22 and in their first season at this level, too early to say they can’t improve.
Perhaps you could supply a list of all the other sites that you disapprove of, so I can block them also?
Well I never.3 -
He actually done alright i think but was targeted alot aerially which will always be the danger and his obvious weakness1
-
Apter offers no defensive protection and it’s not like he has pace and power so even going forward he would be worse on the left needs the option to be able to come inside with the ball and use his agility and trickery. You wouldn’t have told JRS to play at LW let alone LWB even seen it with TC he looks hopeless on the right in comparison to the leftStarinnaddick said:As I said on the Bree thread Rob Apter is left footed so why have we not tried him there?1 -
Is he fit yet?fenaddick said:
We did sign one to be fair...Gisappointed said:
Look at my post. We have been looking for a lwb since 27th of September. Why haven't we signed after four month's searching, one three weeks into the Jan window?Bailey said:
Gis, we couldn't sign anyone after the 1st September, they didn't get injured till the 27th of that month, so we didn't think we needed cover the day after the 1st September and couldn't get anyone because the window was shut, come the 27th we did need someone but the window was shut almost a month previously.Gisappointed said:So why no left sided defender in since 27th September with three weeks of a window and four wasted games?
Do they not do research until the next window opens?
I've put forward four options. Who is on their list?
Is he still here?0 -
Is this a serious post?Gisappointed said:So on Tuesday we are almost three weeks into the transfer window and no LWB in the door despite knowing we needed one since late September. Thats four games without a settled side when we could have solved the issue.
If not Mauragis or a potential gem, why not a journeyman to get us over the line this season? Bidwell, Purrington, Reach, none of whom would break the bank and would probably have got us more points if bought on NYD.
What are our scouts doing?1 -
Yes. Please dismantle it you see fit otherwise you are WUMTodds_right_hook said:

Why waste time and money on a journeyman, who is possibly settled where he is and might also want a decent length contract?
Why would we want someone like Purrington at LWB alongside Gillesphey? It might work for the odd game, but it’s a temporary solution that if we sign better leaves us with an unhappy player, and if we don’t, a left side that isn’t much stronger than we have now, only a bit more balanced on paper.
We need a player good enough to compete with Edwards when he’s back, not another player that’s L1 standard.2 -
If the rumor about Josh being out for the season is true they need to break the bank and get a strong LWB option in quickly or we will go down. If NJ is insistent on playing 532 that needs to be a priority.2

What system did NJ play at Luton. I was under the presumption that we had settled into this formation because of the players we had. Maybe we might see some out of the blue signings in preparation for how NJ wants us to play0

In his first stint at least it was a back 4, then he played either a midfield diamond, or a double pivot 4231AberystwythAddick said:What system did NJ play at Luton. I've been told its called "inverted wingers" and it's all the rage. Also got shouted down by someone saying don't I remember Jonny Robinson playing on his "wrong" foot.Gisappointed said:

We can all be relieved that at least Alex Fergusson realised that most of it is baloney otherwise David Beckham or Ryan Giggs wouldn't have got game time for Man U.0 -
He was shown in a club video very recently back on the training pitch so I dont think he's that far away from making an appearance againScoham said:Why waste time and money on a journeyman, who is possibly settled where he is and might also want a decent length contract?

Which is why I suspect the club are loathe to sign a perm LWB and are looking at loans. As people often say on here you have ti wait until the end of the transfer deadline to snap up a good Prem loan & I reckon this is what we'll do.
So I'm expecting TC will get the LWB position for our trip to Millwall and also expecting a replica of the 4-0 drubbing when Solly played on the wrong foot at their place.0 -
Crazy I know but I remember wingers playing on their strong side, but then wait for it….. they actually swapped over to mix it up a bit!!! And it really worked, terribly old fashioned thinking though. Also midfielders could defend, attack, dribble, pass, shoot and tackle and that was just one midfielder!!!.😂golfaddick said:

Some realistic LWB's who are out of contract (possibly) in 2026 are few and far between but there are some out there. In just over n hour of messing about in Wyscout this evening I've found a few I like the look of.
Haydon Roberts 23 yo at Bristol City. Can play LWB / LB / LCB but isnt the biggest so might not be suitable as a replacement for Gillesphey. Struber has said he is free to leave if he gets an offer but would be equally happy if he chose to stay. Was a regular before falling out of favour.
Jeriel Dorsett 23 yo at Reading. LCB but maybe not attacking enough to be a LWB. Taller and can play LCB and LB. We did look at him in the past but his agent never returned the call and we moved on.
Elliot Stroud 23yo at Mjallby in Sweden. More of a winger but also covers at wingback but i'd need to see more footage. Handy eye for goal, takes set pieces well and has a mean diagonal delivery too.. Very sturdy too so would fit in with the rigours of Championship football. Wouldn't be free but is out of contract at the very end of 2026 so maybe an option. 26 goals and 12 assists in the Swedish top flight in 127 games is a very decent contribution from midfield; however, his side were the surprise winners of the league last season so it would be a big ask to get him to leave there. That being said the Championship is significantly better by all metrics than the Allsvenskan (crowds, money, values). Has an English passport too i believe
I've enjoyed doing this little bit of research as I have not been able to do too much of late. Maybe I'll ask the club for a job for a little while :-)
Of course I have no idea what sort of budget we are looking at and I don't know the inner worling of these players at their respective clubs. But coming up with an "outside the box" option isn't impossible.
I'm sure we have fingers in many pies but we, as a fanbase, need to remember there are multiple facets to a player transfer (buying club, selling club, the player's wants and the domino effect of other players in the chain). Things will all become clearer in a couple of weeks, and until then, we need to keep the faith

Hoping we’ve got some cracking signings lined up, for the last two weeks of the window!0
