Good to see we're not rolling over, and letting clubs tickle our bellies - If they want to sign one of our talents, they can work for itchev said:13 -
Wow, so mbick inevitably will be off then?! Would be disappointing0
-
How long is left on Mbick’s contract? Or is that unknown0

£2.5m rising to £3.5m is insulting. Brighton have the money to make proper offers not pisstake bids.
£5m starting fee minimum or go away.17 -
I wouldn't be happy if we sold him for £5m to be honest, but maybe that's just me. We'll not get quality at this level for that amount, whereas he could be a quality player for us.MarcusH26 said:£2.5m rising to £3.5m is insulting. Brighton have the money to make proper offers not pisstake bids.

He's such a huge prospect. I do wonder what we're valuing him at... I'm sure the club have no doubts that he'll make an impact at this level, and after one good season in the Championship he could be worth a fortune.

I think he's a really hard player to value. One good Championship season and he's a £15-20m striker.Chunes said:

I also wonder if the club look at the situation with him a bit with " we might not have to go out and spend big cash on a striker " if Micah, Miles and DK continue to develop.
I would be a bit disappointed at £5m , I think the Greek youth international that got their goal last night was 35m euros and he's only 18.10 -
I agree, feel like 5m would be pointless. You look at the players we bought in the summer and would 5m even improve us that much apart from the running of the club??Chunes said:

Nice we aren't in a place where we just accept any bids though17
-
Real positive statement of intent from the owners to dismiss that.
They may have a price in mind for him, but I'd imagine it's well in excess of £5m.
Nice to have owners who seem to be thinking a long way ahead11 -
Have they got a decent LWB we could take as a makeweight, and maybe settle on £10M+4
-
The issue here is if his head gets turned and he wants to go. PL clubs these days have so much money they can probably offer 20k a week and not even flinch.5
-
I think that’s potentially the benefit of being owned by a consortium, no doubt they will have a price, but that’s more than likely a lot higher as it is all about the money, no sentiment involved.TheHerminator said:Real positive statement of intent from the owners to dismiss that.

Interesting that they want him now when they don't really have much control over his pathway for the next 6 months. The options are basically for him to play U21 football or stay at Colchester. I assume Brighton think his value is only going to rise over the second half of the season0
-
Potential for that to happen. Hopefully he has someone in his ear explaining that his chances to play football and devleop are much greater with CharltonChris_from_Sidcup said:The issue here is if his head gets turned and he wants to go. You're right but he's on a long deal here and doesn't have the player power of a Harry Kane etc. They can turn his head but he can't do much about it without jeopardising his career at this pointChris_from_Sidcup said:The issue here is if his head gets turned and he wants to go. Not many players that Brighton sign end up getting sold on for a pittance, They will make a lot of money on him should he develop, got to stand firm.fenaddick said:Interesting that they want him now when they don't really have much control over his pathway for the next 6 months. I think we may have to promise him that he’s going to be in our squad next season. Which might have been the plan anywayTheHerminator said:

Would expect both him and DK to come back and fight for places. Might not need to get into the stupid fees for strikers market in the summer which would be nice!NabySarr said:

If it’s true about Brighton, you can bet they are offering a left back as a make weight.0
-
Given Dykes is only here for 6 months and NJ said it was between signing him and recalling Mbick (which might have been sending a message to Brighton) I think the plan probably is to assess Mbick for the target man role in the summer.NabySarr said:

It’s and interesting position for us to be in, giving he his quite young with limited first team experience and out on loan at a L2 club. How much power does Mbick have in this? It’s not like say Ramsay or Jones where they are senior first team players who would hold a lot more sway. If we say no what are the repercussions0
-
Mbick is an interesting one. one good season for us and he would be a 15-20m player. but to me leaburn and Kanu are in fromt of him in terms of young strikers. we also haVe Kelman who is young, and then Godden and Dykes. plus TC as a young forward.
sell him and buy a really gpod LwB ? where we have zero options ?1 -
Although if we could get 5 mill with add ons then sign Jack Currie from Oxford I think that would be a decent bit of business0
-
There is no way Oxford will help us out in this window11
-
I agree. I don't think he has much power given he signed a 4 year contract only 6 months ago and we're not relying on him playing for us like we have been with other young prospects that we've sold to the PL in the past.AberystwythAddick said:It’s and interesting position for us to be in, giving he his quite young with limited first team experience and out on loan at a L2 club.
