If 2.5 m buys us a LWB we could not otherwise afford, we should take it. Survival this season is more important than a prospect who is nowhere near our first team. Just make sure the sell-on number is big.

Give Mbick the rest of this season and work on further things during the off season and I wouldn’t be surprised if he was involved next season in the Championship.

AMB linked to Scotland by Cawley but unsure if it will happen as NJ likes to have 3 senior keepers.
    3 Senior Keeper - 1 Left Back!!
perhaps we should look at getting a left back then.... just saying.

Yeah I reckon if we keep Mbick we won’t go in for another striker in the summer, unless it’s to re-sign dyke, but that’s probably dependent on where mbick is

    I'm getting very cross now!!

Two deals for a couple of players, that yes might be pretty unknown and may not work out, but also keeps it a little more interesting or intriguing signing players from overseas.

Seems our competitors are operating on a more global market compared to us!

Think it would depend on Godden too. Has a club option but of course remains to be seen how he's going to come back from injury. Not needing to spend big money on a striker could be really advantageous in the summer actually.

Mbick has 33 senior appearances, 1 goal against Cray Valley, 1 in the FA Cup for Colchester, 1 in the EFL Trophy and 6 in League 2. Hardly prolific.

i am not saying the potential isn’t there, but can we afford to wait and see? If we go down this year his value will plummet.

if Brighton are offering a deal around 5m, with a sell on and loan back I’d be of a mind to take it on the basis that the fee is invested in the team.
Hope this doesn’t come across in any way, but have you seen any of his performances this season?

Mbick’s game, especially at Colchester where is leads the line, is so much more than goals. And by the way, some of his goals have been fantastic. He’s been outstanding for them, shown real quality and ability to hold off and beat his man, hold up the ball and bring others into play.

At times he’s looked like prime “cheat code” Aneke and I mean that in the most praise possible.

At his age, he’s got potential to go and play in Premier League, and that’s why Brighton are interested.
Yes but he is playing in League 2 against League Two defenders. He has potential but that is all at the moment.

Do you guys know there’s a Mbick thread?

Might free up some space on here for incoming rumours, just saying.

Why do we need to be recalling any striker, we’ve just bought Dykes and have Matty Godden coming back which is almost like a new signing. If we really want to be recalling anyone it’s Alex Mitchell, having a decent season at L1, played a decent chunk for us last season and could deffo plug a few holes in what is a defence with the structural integrity of a fucking popadom.
I’d like us to recall Mitchell just for the morbid curiosity of seeing him and Gillesphey playing in the same defence in the championship. We’d ship 13 at least.

It's crazy we have only got two in. I reckon it'll be one more on loan and that'll be our lot.

I’ve not seen him play, other than snippets of his goals. Agree he has scored some worldies….however, it’s league 2 and the gulf between that and where we are (let alone the Championship) is huge. No idea if he can bridge that gap.

My post was purely from a devils advocate perspective and weighing the ‘cost’ of relegation against any decent offer which might come in.

Ultimately I don’t really have an opinion on him as I’ve not seen enough of him. He didn’t look ready for league one last year imo.

Lets not read too much into it. He's great mates with TC and hasn't been in London for months. Probably just supporting his mate

Piss off.. I'm going full conspiracy theorist, and putting a tenner on him to score our winner on Saturday - Just need Swisdom to provide the obligatory, stalker type photo, so we can over analysis some random bloke, before realising its just dodgy Dave

Imagine if signs tomorrow, goes straight into the team on Saturday, scores the winner and the curse is finally lifted.

I think we'd all like to see JRS back but where would he be played in NJ's system. Bloody wingback probably.
