We should send Ghillesphey back to Argyle on loan would make a good pairing with Mitchell.
One thing that Macca is probably better at than anyone else at Charlton is "he's never injured"

I now expect a few extra views on that one !
in all seriousness is it because he doesn't try too hard, playing within himself?
No he's just not made of glass/cheese/puff pastry/spit and sticky tape/whatever people use these days

I’m pretty sure Jes Rak Sakyi is in the directors box tonight…..

He’ll jump on the Derby team coach after watching this crap.

quite the opposite - he'll look at it and know he's exactly what we need
Why is he a lwb now….

i mean seriously give over how do we need a player that doesn’t fit our system. Doesn’t play in our most need position.

If you’ve watched us the past 3 months you seriously can’t think we need him over a lb/lwb
Don't care where he plays - play him behind the strikers and put TC back up top - imho the reason our attacking play has fallen off a cliff is not having the pace (TC) up front - he holds it up better than anybody by occupying defenders whilst the rest of the team gets up in support. Add Rak Saki's pace in just behind and we'd be onto something - NJ can then play as many defensive wingbacks and midfielders as he likes. I like NJ and i'm fully in support of him but he's not quite as good as me .  :)

£20m from Wrexham on one player. Hope the owners are paying attention. Crocked loans and free agents aren’t competing.

Would you be happy if Charlton splashed that sort of cash on a Striker with his record?
Because for me the Scouts really need to have spotted something special that his stats arent showing.
I agree though we are going to have to spend bigger transfers on single players, rather than £10m as a whole if we want to move forward... Either that or we need to be incredibly smart / lucky with our scouting of hidden gems.

I’d be happy if we *could* spend that sort of money. The fact is we can’t.

Nah I wouldn't be impressed at all with someone with 4 goals all season for around £20m. Don't think we'll ever get to spending that type of fee ever under these owners because I think they're a bit more sensible than that!

Us spending that money will see us falling short of any P&S rules down the line should we stay in the Championship.

Yeah it's a combo of the documentary and big ticket sponsorships with United Airlines, Meta and HP.

It is, but even to be allowed that amount I think £30m+ has to come direct from the owners injecting equity (not loans). £15m without that injection I think.
  • Wrexham are mad to be looking to spend that sort of money on one player but the lesson for Charlton is that if we want to be secure in our Championship status or even push on towards top six then our spending has to be greater than we’ve seen. Admittedly I think we’ve all been a bit disappointed with the bulk of our summer business. Based on game time and selection it’s frankly been mostly poor. I think our recruitment has simply put got to be much better and I can’t really see that without a significant increase in what we’re spending.

£19m for a lad that's scored 6 league goals. The games gone.

Feel like if if living is a fantasy land where we chuck £20m on one player is your route to happiness you're doomed to misery mate

Haven't seen it mentioned here (may have missed it) but apparently we are in advanced talks for Junior Ligue -A 20 year old FCZ (Swiss) left back - There are reportedly still some details to be finalised between the two clubs. As things stand, a transfer is not yet complete. Charlton wants to bring Ligue to England on loan initially – an option (or obligation) to buy will almost certainly be part of the deal, if it goes through.

Their sponsorship deals are a drop in the ocean compared to the spend.

Yes they have a good financial model but it’s not this good. I don’t get where the money is coming from. The Disney doc isn’t doing it that’s for sure

Was discussed a few pages back. Will be interesting to see if he’s still in consideration now we’ve signed Chambers on loan.

Personally if we're letting Tanto go I'd still want another striker in the building, Godden is still working his way back and Leaburn you can't tell how long he's going to stay fit for. Another pacey option that can run in behind would be a a bonus.

Agree, we can then start the new player and sub on TC, or vice versa, and also have the option of starting both. As we saw last season, pace and width can change a team dramatically.

At points on Tuesday he was absolutely rapid but not consistently, which I guess is normal for a young player still getting to grips with managing their energy in first team football.

Not sure I agree. Their goal scoring record this season isnt much different & Tanto has pace. Rather have pace than a lump.

My personal suspicion is that they are throwing money around to try and get themselves promoted post haste and get their hands on Premier League money, and therefore any creative accounting along the way will either be ignored or they will probably be rich enough it won't matter, or maybe they sell the club and fuck off to wipe their arses with some of the spare bank notes they suddenly have lying around.
  • Maybe it’s Tanto out for Cadamantari?
