Recalling loanees should be a last resort. Kanu has spent his whole career at a level he wasn’t ready for, and Asiimwe was also put in a very difficult spot when thrown in a couple of years ago. Let them develop.

We were on the brink of signing a striker on deadline day so I’d be amazed if we don’t do that in January instead. In terms of defenders I think we’ll look to short term deals or another loan unless someone becomes available who we can’t say no to.
We can't wait until January deadline day for players who may or may not be available, so we'll be looking at those effectively available now.

But will the players immediately available be match fit? Someone who's barely played in 4 months may not be ready to hit the ground running, whereas our successful loaned out players will at least be match fit and full of confidence.

Personally would call Asimwee back. The lad is a talent and if you can give Fullah a chance then may as well gove Asimwee the same chance!

If we can get a CB, maybe 2 ( move Gillesphey on) that would be good. Bree will sign you would assume.

A striker maybe but it does depend on who is close to fitness.

I like Assimwe, he's got a lot of potential but Fullah is in a different class entirely.
Oh I agree but am I right in saying Fullah isnt a natural wing back? Assimwe is and we are short there atm.

Fully agree though Fullah looks an absolute star.

Any thing about that wing back from Japan that we was interested in??
He's not good enough for this league, unfortunately, and our scouts(s) will have realised that by now i expect.
Have no idea if thats the case until he’s put in the league but realistically good age no transfer fee likely low wage, could argue it’s a no risk signing if he hasn’t agreed to go anywhere else I’d argue it would be a guarantee

Think there a number of points that people need to remember .. we got promoted 12 months earlier then expected and this has had a major effect on our younger players like Leaburn and Campbell plus others who may have been regulars in league one .. another 12 months and these players would be better prepared, but also coming up is tough but made more difficult that we were 3 weeks behind everyone else .. if we had a full pre season players like Kelman and Knibbs may have joined earlier and more important had a pre season even joined the team on tour .. instead of trying to get fit in championship matches .. still say you offer the club 4th from bottom on GD they would have and will now snap your hand off
If this is the case then why do you take every possibly opportunity you have in your other posts to criticise the likes of Campbell, Leaburn & Anderson?

NJ isn’t scared to retrain players though, Ramsay has changed position very successfully and TC is still being played in that hybrid role. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Fullah become a LWB for Jones

Agree, Fullah is a star in the making and a No10, not a wing back, as confirmed by Nathan in his post Birmingham video...

A womble mate has told me that asiimwe has run out of steam recently. He is 20 years old and this is his first full and proper season of mens football. He alreadyhas more minutes under his belt this season so far than in any other season of his professional career. I would leave him at Wimbledon to continue his development.

Same with Mbick and Kanu, they are boys turning into men. Keep them where they are having a full season of
mens football rather than being squad players with us.
Apter and then one of Bree/Fukuda should be enough to cover RWB especially since Ramsay/JRC can play there if needed and are most likely all better than Asiimwe.

Kanu and Mbick should only be coming back if they’re going to get consistent game time from either starts or the bench and Jones feels they are better than what we already have. You need at least 3 strikers Leaburn been underwhelming and Godden injury may have finished his career off so there is definitely space just comes down to if we have the budget to bring in another striker whether permanent or on loan that can offer more than both Mbick/Kanu
  • For me, I think NJ (the owners) will get behind a plan to shore up the defence, as that is our priority. A striker (that scores goals) would be a godsend, however a tried and tested Championship quality one (we don't have one already and fit), is beyond the owners playing budget for the team. A good defender will be the cheaper option.

As such, the key to staying up, is not just about scoring, but keeping the goals conceded to a minimum. We will focus on working hard and nicking the odd goal, which is what got us promoted.

There has never been a focus on goals scored in NJs setup for this team, but despite that being abundantly clear, we've still had success.

Keep it tight at the back and we'll be ok.

He openly posted on another forum that he only posts on CL to wind up the fans on here so there really is no point in engaging or responding to his comments imo.

Think we are going to be striking relatively early on in the January window. Expecting at least 1 body through the door by the time we play Chelsea.
Potentially the striker on loan from Chelsea? Weren't we led to believe that this was 'done' and the paperwork just didn't go through in time on the last deadline day?

I'd bring back Assimwe and Kanu 1st Jan, have them in the squad until we sign cover and then loan them straight back to the clubs they're at

Is there anything those three have in common other than being young academy products?

He went out on loan to a Turkish club instead (their transfer deadline was later)

No chance of that happening, all it will do is piss off Walsall and AFC Wimbledon and their managers, probably break up the momentum they have built up, and then they'll be stuck here in limbo because of you're told by the parent club "fuck you for a month, we need them back but you can have them on the 31st again" I'd just go and loan someone else from a club that's not acting the complete helmet

Yeah and we don't want to upset Wimbledon or Walsall now do we?!

Obviously I am joking but I think in particular Walsall would bite our hand off if we said Kanu's coming back for a few weeks and then you can have him the rest of the season...

Ultimately though, us having the best squad possible for every game should be the priority so I would agree with recalling both of them on the 1st unless our injuries have improved drastically and / or we have some replacements in the building. Even if that isn't necessarily the best for either player's development.

Jones in his press conference basically saying that they won’t panic and that January is more about “top ups”, that we signed good players in the summer and January is “never a massive window”.

I think they will need to change their tune if results don't go our way in the next 3 games.
  • Need to use the loan market if we’re doing anything, insistence not to use has left us lacking depth

I think it's more likely to be deliberately playing things down more than anything. I don't think Jones is quite as blasé about the quality/depth of the squad as he seems but I do think he's smart enough to know that talking about the number/types of players he wants is only going to make a rod for his own back.

Any thing about that wing back from Japan that we was interested in??
I asked my Kyoto Sanga supporting mate and he said:
    ”自然な日本語にすると、こんな感じです👇

    「ああ、まだ興味あるよ。アディックス、がんばれ!」

    もう少しサポーター感を強めるなら:

    「ああ、まだ興味ある!アディックス万歳!」

    はチャールトン・アスレティックを応援する掛け声なので、日本語では「がんばれ/万歳/最高」系が一番近いです。

    For anyone interested:

"Yeah, I'm still interested. Go Addicks!"

To make it sound a little more like a supporter:

"Yeah, I'm still interested! Long live the Addicks!"

This is a cheer for Charlton Athletic, so in Japanese, the closest equivalent would be something along the lines of "Go for
    it!", "Hurray!", or "Awesome!"

I'd be looking at the promoted clubs Leeds, Burnley and Sunderland. Which of their left sided defenders haven't been trusted at the Premier League level but was a solid enough starter for them the previous seasons?

Surely that would give us a bad reputation as a loaning club in the future . Who would want a player for 5 months, parent club recalls and then sends them back a month later when they have lost match sharpness

Dennis Cirkin sticks out at Sunderland but he's had a few injuries this season. Ever present for them in the Champ but they've upgraded. They've got Leo Hjelde on their books too who has reasonable Champ experience too.

Last season Wycombe had Caleb Taylor on loan from WBA. They recalled him at the start of January, but sent him back to Wycombe at the end of the month. Wycombe were happy to take him back.
