Well that should make one tricky task a little easier!iaitch said:

No, it's nothing like us signing Rousillon, as our relegation rivals have signed players that are fit and ready to play.thenewbie said:
Well technically it was about signing players AND STRENGTHENING, which honestly I genuinely wouldn't say is the case. It's like us signing Rousillon - another body through the door, patches up a hole in the squad maybe but not a transformative signing that will realistically change a season's trajectory.Braziliance said:
All good breaking it down. The post was about being worried about teams around us signing players which they have is all.Crispywood said:
Norwich are never going to go down there squad is too good, we’ve proved with some of our players good in L1 doesn’t translate to good in the championship no guarantee Donley hits the ground running, and Cashin was hated at Birmingham and all the Blackburn fans are asking if he can play up front and commenting they need a striker rather than a CB somehow they’ve scored less than us.Braziliance said:
Like this?thenewbie said:
They almost certainly have been, almost all of the business that's been done so far has been by teams near the top of the league and as such having stronger hands and higher appeal to players.Braziliance said:
You'd like to have seen 1 or 2 in already by now. We have known for months we have been struggling and need reinforcements, window has been open a week, things shouldn't start moving just as it hits January 1st, wheels should have been turning for weeks before. You've seen other clubs manage to make movements so it is possible.Sword65pf said:I think it’s being emphasised by some of the players going and being linked to other clubs, we are probably fishing in a completely different pond, I was quite optimistic about us finishing mid table earlier in the season, but feeling a little edgy now, would really like a bit of encouraging transfer news. Early days though I know.
As usual though my expectations are on the ground. I am not expecting anything too exciting to strengthen our squad.
As soon as I read it would be a sensible window, that was that.
If we were seeing rivals strengthening all around us I'd be more concerned but I'm not overly worried yet. Once the cup game is out of the way I hope things will start moving.

It’s realistically 2 go down from us Oxford, Portsmouth and Blackburn. Pompey have lost a winger signed no one, Blackburn have signed a player in a position they’re not desperate for and Oxford have taken a player who couldn’t get a minute at Stoke and don’t even have a manager not worried about other sides business just yet.Plus we’ve shown if we have our best team we can compete higher up the table the others haven’t and have been on a steady relegation pace
Donley is MAYBE the exception there but even if so that is one signing and not a pattern.
Don't see what you're doing here to be honest. I've highlighted that relegation rivals have made signings to strengthen their squads, which was said teams around us haven’t done, or or it was implied.
Cashin and Donley would have improved us, as they are better than some of the options we have at present. I don't know about the Norwich player.
Anyway, let's see what we can do.2 -

Agree Apter is a much better option than TC because he has a football brain. TC is faster but rarely contributes to anything meaningful + he's got a silly haircut !Berkshire1970 said:
I disagree! For Blackpool he wasn’t playing as a winger and baring in mind throughout August he was one of our best players. He doesn’t possess pace but good on the ball & has a football brain unlike Campbell.Southbank said:
I am afraid however technically good he is, he is too lightweight for the Champ. He cannot play wingback for that reason, he is not even as good as TC there and TC cannot do it either.Berkshire1970 said:
Apter technically is one of the best in the squad but has suffered due to the imbalance of the team starting with the injury to Edwards. Needs to be playing in the last third.Addickinedi said:Well we could have solved the issue in the summer instead of Burke and Apter , got in Caleb Taylor. Doing a great job for Millwall, tall quick CB and just bought property in Sidcup. Would have taken the pressure off the likes of Bell and Ramsay.
But an injury prone Luton man and an untried League 1 winger are not contributing enough.
In addition, Apter is a winger and NJ does not play with wingers.
I don't think Apter has a future with us and really, for his benefit as well, he should be moved on.0 -

I take it you've not seen Will Abbott's replacement yet then?

Don't think that guy has any idea really, wants to sound ITK but he is just guessing based on the clues given by Goddenole (who is actually ITK).fenaddick said:Other sight saying we might be in for Amara Nallo instead of Scanlon. Heard we're thinking about signing a new right winger too, but unfortunately he's more interested in stopping any crossingCaptainRobbo said:eastterrace6168 said:

Our owners are very rich btw. One of the two has a net worth of over 3 billion, and the other 400-500 million. These aren't chancers showing front like many of the parasites who have had their claws in us, these are legitimate business men.SouthLincsAddick said:
At last, some realism has entered the chat. All that sniping and whining was getting insufferable. Like it or loath it, this is our only way forward, unless someone finds the odd billion down the back of the sofa. COYA!Berkshire1970 said:
What you’re forgetting is Charlton’s transfer policy is to buy potential from lower divisions for two reasons. The first is budget and the latter we are not attractive to more established championship players. We’ve been languishing league 1 for many years & are rebuilding. Let’s keep focused and be realistic!Sword65pf said:
Did he actually play in the 10 role for Blackpool? And was he that good at it?MarcusH26 said:Don't think Apter is worth even considering off loading. There's plenty there to work with with him and I think he's going to get more of a chance once Edwards is back on the other flank.
Maybe even worth a look in the 10 role with players going off the boil there.
I believe a fan who is quite trust worthy was told by Nathan Jones at Wembley that we "are fucking minted"?
It isn't about their money, it's about what they are willing to put in / can put in.
Based on how much we earned through TV money, the promotion transfer leeway, and deals being added into FFP by year, not as an outright sum towards the total, we do have some money knocking about looking at the figures.
It's just whether or not the powers that be are willing to use it.
To play devil's advocate, they currently might be thinking, after allowing you to spend 2.5 million on Apter, 2 million or thereabouts on Harvey Knibbs, 1.5 million on Tanto Olaofe, and almost a million on Costello, and them barely getting a look in, can our recruitment team be trusted spending anymore substantial fees this season?21 -
That last bit is completely spot on even in L1 our 2 biggest fees were Ahadme (750k) and A.Mitchell (300k + 20% sell on) yet got Berry Docherty Edwards Mannion for a combined 90k. Jones is proven he’s better at finding better players for free than on big feesBraziliance said:

Spoke with a friend who is an football agent from Liverpool, he told me the LWB we have been linked with " think might be injured"19

Which is a pisser in Jan! I do think from what we've seen so far that Nathan does better work in the summer than the winter in terms of recruitment (most do to be fair)Crispywood said:

We still don’t know who it is yet, they have about 5 left backs. What one is it that we were/are signing?stjohnshill said:Spoke with a friend who is an football agent from Liverpool, he told me the LWB we have been linked with " think might be injured"0 -
Callum Scanlon was the name that seemed to be the most obvious from goodenoles posts1

It's on public record scanlon has been injured for months and is not back fit in the U21s yet.MarcusH26 said:Callum Scanlon was the name that seemed to be the most obvious from goodenoles posts
Luke Chambers (came back into u21s last month) or Nallo (u21 captain) make more sense5 -

Hopefully this is where some upwards management should be coming in. The management team should be setting the expectations that £2/2.5m on a player at this level doesn't guarantee you a top Championship performer, at that level some will work out and some won't. As long as the owners are realistic about that then there should be a bit more budget to play with.Braziliance said:
