April/May - Morocco (2 weeks)

Still working sadly so only have booked so far:
I've got 4 days at a spa retreat in France in April
Usual week in Cyprus in May - we toyed with a new venue, but went back to the old trusty, plus also want to look again at retirement villas there.
Will do a couple of long weekend trips to Lanzarote for same purpose, maybe stretch one of them to a week.
We are doing 5 days in Guernsey in July/August but still to decide on hotels, 5 days in Sand banks again in the summer holidays (wife works in a school) and probably a week or maybe 2 in Sotogrande.
October somewhere UK or nearby, not sure where yet, may depend how Guernsey/Cyprus/Lanzarote goes, have promised friends we will go to IoM next year to see them since they deserted Blighty last year, really don't think that place is for me (bar the TT) but worth a look.
A few European city breaks, and that'll be us done!

Very jealous pf all of you with these trips planned, particularly those going to Africa. We've had a big couple of years for travelling for family and friend reasons both positive and negative (a couple of family members ill in far flung places but also friends and family weddings and visiting some who are now living and working abroad).
Were doing a big project on our house in spring so both in terms of time available and and cash it's gotta be a relatively small year for travel. Keeping it short haul and as cheap as possible.
Currently have a week in Rhodes in May for my in laws 60th (paid for by them!).
The wife promised a short trip somewhere not too far where I can get my Advanced open water Scuba diving qualification.
Potentially doing a trip with friends to do a bit of sailing in the med.2 -
Pantachou Beach just outside Ayia Napa, or Grecian Bay as many know it as. Furthest part away from the Harbour down towards Grecian Sands (the year in The Amarande where we stayed year before last). Think this is my 23rd trip to Cyprus!CAFCTrev said:

Probably done close to that ourselves, always in the Paphos area though.Rob7Lee said:

Think 3x to Paphos, 2x to Limassol, otherwise we are creatures of habit!LargeAddick said:

Have done Paphos about 6 times and currently looking at it again for 2026 but part of me wants to try Protaras again for a change.
Also looking likely I'll be booking Belek.0 -
I love Cyprus, it might be my favourite place on Earth.1
-
A couple of road trips in the planning stage - Northumberland coast and the West Coast of Scotland.Otherwise fairly flexible as our eldest is relocating to Malta in the spring and will be there for a few years at least. We will visit fairly regularly - don't want our grandchildren growing up too quickly between visits, and may look at property there as well.Maybe a med cruise at some point, although may wait until winter here for a Caribbean option.1

10 nights in Portugal (Algarve) next August + no doubt a few UK trips away in the caravan0

There's definitely nowhere better! i won't hear otherwise ;-)Algarveaddick said:1 -
Retirement villas? Are you looking to retire there or just spend 6 months of the year? Or can you spend longer if you have an EU passport/can you get residency?Rob7Lee said:Still working sadly so only have booked so far:

We are currently looking at if we wish to retire away from the UK. Cyprus is one of the easier one's to get a 'golden' VISA, the easiest way is to buy a new property over 300k (Euro) but there are other options, but that's the easiest.PrincessFiona said:

Not dissimilar to Malta, but it's a bit more expensive.2 -
Very similar countries from that respect. In Cyprus there is VAT on property (19% from memory) so basically spend is minimum £360k but we’d likely spend more anyway. Weirdly you don’t actually have to live in it, you can rent it out which is another option if purely taxation.bobmunro said:Rob7Lee said:

Good to hear that the cost of living crisis has finished.4

Chobe and VF worth it ... went in May and was excellent ... compared to Krueger in November the experience was 10x better... can't recommend as not up to date but Chobe Lodge inside the park was a bucket list memory. Would go again in a heart beat.Athletico Charlton said:I may have asked on a previous holiday thread but.. has anyone done a safari in Botswana and is there any way to do so on a sensible budget.
It's pretty much the number one destination I would like to visit, but I have a family of 4 of us to pay for and the quotes I got so far (admittedly from a small bespoke agent), ranged from £22K+ without flights which is not even remotely possible... Maybe one of those places I will never make I guess.
Don't need expensive lodges or anything like that.1 -
I’m in the middle of a luxury Caribbean cruise with Silversea.
We paid for everything upfront.
I can’t fault it in anyway.
You can drink champagne every waking moment if you choose and also be eating the finest of foods.
You have a butler to attend to your every need.
I’ve seen some mention the Celebrity cruises as the best, but we’ve been moored alongside them a few times and that is chav central by comparison.
If you want the best and are willing to pay for it I recommend Silversea.
The amount of staff equals the 300 guests and many of the staff know your name.
The impeccable customer service leaves me speechless.4 -

Great place, and good time of year to go. You're probably clued up on the big sights like https://www.sigiriya.info/, Yalla, Adam's Peak, trains up to Kandy and Ella - all great to do.kafka said:I’m planning Sri Lanka for February. Anyone got any recommendations?
Galle likewise probably in your sights already. S coast resorts are enjoyable, if a little touristy. We liked Bentota also as another laid back coastal stop.
Colombo quite ok to visit but few big 'sights' so nor worth staying there long. If you do go there, check out prices at the Galle Face Hotel - reasonably affordable for the colonial experience.
Good to buy stuff like shirts, shorts in the better chain and independent stores - good quality and made in SL.
Food is brilliant.1 -
