We followed the recruitment process but no one told Nathan the players were crap 😉😀0

Yeah, but of course the model is to recruit to develop players for future profit.shine166 said:
Also shows that his reluctance at taking loans is a hindrance.Chris_from_Sidcup said:
Quite telling that probably the two most successful summer signings have been Carey and Bell, and they were both free transfers. For a variety of reasons, pretty much everyone we paid money for last summer has been disappointing, although i don't think Kaminski has been as bad as some people make out.CafcSteve said:What’s everyone’s thoughts now on who’s lived up to expectation from The Summer?
Two of them (Apter/Olaofe) were loaned out within 6 months. Knibbs was injured for ages, JRC rarely given a chance and Kelman has looked ok at times, but is clearly out of favour. Not sure if we paid any fee for Burke but the less said about him the better.
The one bright spark was the January signing of Sichenje. Hopefully there is a lesson to be learnt here moving forward. Stop overpaying for league one shit and look abroad for bargains.
Another positive has been the loan signings. For a manager who has said in the past he's not a fan of loans, i think Jones has done pretty well with loan recruitment.
That's what NJ is told to do.
But in a struggling team, we needed to find players immediately - to make an instant impact and keep the team in the division.
Not much budget left = loans0 -
Yep, agree......but both Millwall and Coventry have spent several seasons in the Championship - and have been team building and gradually upgrading their squad year by year. The Red Robin said:It will take a few years to emulate anything near what Coventry and Millwall have done. They’ve spent fairly decent money on players in the last few years- money we don’t have at the moment.
Surely that's what Charlton aspire to?
But this our 1st season back in the Championship, with the 2nd smallest transfer budget in the League.
Hopefully we stay up - but we're still only on the bottom rung of the ladder that Millwall and Coventry have already spent many seasons climbing.

Players like Apter, JRC, Knibbs and Kelman made their name with teams which played a different tactical shape and passing game.
On arrival at Charlton, they were shoe-horned into NJ's 3-5-2 attrition 'if it moves, kick it' style of anti-football.
Frequently played out of position without any constructive supply of the ball, it's no wonder they have struggled.

You can't develop 8 future stars at once, you're just setting up to fail. Would have made more sense to make loans in the summer and intergrate prospects amoung themOggy Red said:
