Great news, was our only outlet last season, even when playing as LWB, now there's finally some other options and he's not getting double/treble marked plus getting the ball in their half rather than ours he's looks an absolute world beater3

Campbell signing a new deal is one thing, but I'm much more interested in what Rodwell thinks about it.
Luckily ... and this is from the OS ... I discover that Rodwell is 'delighted'.
This, of course, is his customary response to all contract signings, but it's a relief for me to know it.16 -

I think four years pretty much secures us £10m+ if he continues playing well. And if he's still with us in 5 years then I think we'll be in the PL.9

Incredible news. If he continues his early-season form, we could finally be in line for a handsome payday next summer after years of mismanaging and underselling some of our best academy products.
Hopefully we’ll get a few more seasons out of a fit and firing TC but when the time eventually comes, that money can be reinvested to help finance the club’s development and, perhaps, finally give us something resembling a sustainable model.
Bring JRS in as well and we could be in for a very exciting few years.5 -

Brilliant news. He's still got a long way to go but feels like NJ has really got him on the right track towards fulfilling his potential. We now either get to have him here, or at worst receive a huge fee if he continues to improve and moves on in future.1

Really thought we were going to lose TC. With the form he’s shown since the start of the season , he is not far off being the jewel in the crown.

Not that we will ever know but would be interesting to know how generous we’ve been.Have we needed to pay a lot better and risk other players negotiating more? Is there a clause that lets him leave subject to a bid / performance? Was he (relatively) poorly rewarded before?
I guess I’m just wondering are we now actually paying better than the claimed 3rd (?) lowest budget in the Championship or just managing funds better across the whole squad?
Be nice to think the budget is actually improving and our owners want to push the boundaries a bit further.Regardless very good news.1 -

I understand that the contract was signed on Friday. Which means that the comms team deserves credit as well as (of course) Jones and the whole management. Because announcing it today elongates the feel-good factor beyond the weekend win at West Ham and into today.
I am very pleased. TC could go on to be a really significant part of Charlton's further forward momentum.
But today also brings up another tantalising question: when is the next announcement. Because, as I understand it, from an unimpeachable, impeccable source, there will be at least one more...11 -

I said this on here a month ago that if we tie him down he could easily go for a £7m-£10m fee in future. There were even some lols on the post and I think @ElfsborgAddick said we’d be lucky to get a million for him? Wonder if those views have changed sinceMartinCAFC said:

Excellent news.
NJ deserves masses of congratulations over the way he's improved TC. When I think back to the dismal FA Cup defeat under Appleton at Gillingham in December 2023, so less than 3 years ago with TC getting some horrible abuse from the away end, without NJ in charge, I doubt we'd have offered or TC signed a new deal in May 2024,
NJ has constantly praised and built up TC, even when he frustrated on the pitch, making him feel loved, and we are really reaping the benefits now. This season, he looks really happy out there - last season, even when scoring (e.g. at Birmingham) he didn't seem that happy, and was reluctant to accept the adulation from the crowd. Now he has a real swagger about him.
