Our biggest game of the season so far imo. We really need 3 points from this one. I hope the players dont get caught up in the importance of the match and just do their thing as no reason we should win this one. Lose and I will start to think we are in trouble

I've not looked at their fan base But I'm guessing Oxford will see this as an easy three points. If Bell starts, I think we will disappoint them.

Given are form, and the injuries to what turns out to be are crucial players, then noting that Oxfords current form is better than ours, they also have a decent manager. I reckon 1-1 will be the most likely score, i do not see us winning this. Hope I am wrong on the last.

We've had a tough few weeks but hung in there , improvement shown at Brum and we need to capitalise on that.
This game is a six pointer and we need all six lol
I like FA's line up except up front. I doubt Kelman will start even if he's fit and Campbell could do with another day on the bench.
Tanto and Apter for me, yet another reshuffle that almost certainly will not happen

Have a great Christmas @ForeverAddickted and to all my other fellow Addicks.
May we all and the club we love enjoy a blessed and prosperous 2026 (after 3 points at Norwich)
  • Surely Oxford will come out all guns blazing hoping for a quick start. So we need to be ready for that and if need be absorb, pack the midfield etc. Then after ten gradually raise the tempo and do it to them. I really think the first goal will be crucial as both teams are brittle currently. And if they're fit keep Kelman and Bell/Burke back until the second half. Campbell also, second half onslaught time!

Hope Bell starts to provide balance at the back. Would not be unhappy to see same team as last week other than Bell back. Kelman on the bench.

Despite Miles, horrendous miss, both he and Olaofe, deserve to start, as does Karoy Anderson and Ibrahim Fullah. Having Tyreece with presumably Kelman and Bell on the bench, is no bad thing, and gives us options where for five games we had very little. A hard fought win with substitutions playing a big part.

With 5 games in 15 days, I can't see either Kelman or Bell starting (assuming they're the two who are fit), although they may get some minutes off the bench. I'm guessing that Nathan will go with the same team again, as it would be very harsh to drop Tanto.

I hadn't appreciated that our recent record against this lot was quite so dire and we need to put that right tomorrow. Good news that Branagan, their key midfielder, is out. Tomorrow is a great opportunity to put ourselves 8 points clear of the drop zone and go into Christmas on 27 points, only 23 shy of the 50 point safety mark.

I expect us to get a massive looping kick in the goolies from this one.

Classic Charlton, "why do it easy?"result.

    0-1

Can't see beyond a horrific 1-4 defeat. Oxford given a boost wondering what they have to be worried about. Us back to January window panic stations.

If we have a proper defence we definitely should win this one. If not, pot luck.

Biggest game of the season so far and the first real 'must not lose' except for Millwall.

Not to worry though, our record in the last decade against these is decent. 8 points from an available 42 is not to be sniffed at.

If Bell is fit I would start him. Apart from that keep the team that started against Birmingham. That would probably/maybe mean leaving out Gillesphey. Maybe harsh but I do feel he’s a bit of a weak link at this level.

Can't believe this lol. Not a team I'd thought of us as having a particularly bad record against but that really is shocking. I've been at almost all of these games as well haha

I actually can't go as we're moving house, so comfortable home win 4-0 I expect

It's not the hope that kills you, it's knowing it's the hope that kills you, that kills you.

I’d either keep the same team, or bring TC in for Leaburn and have TC and Olaofe’s pace causing problems

Be great to have Bell and Kelman (or anyone) back fit, but with the upcoming schedule they will be eased back in I’d imagine. Good to have a stronger bench though

You never know what NJ is going to do in terms of selection but I hope we play our strongest team and not think about the games coming up. Tomorrow is our best chance for 3 points so it’s important we go for it. Same team as Brum for me unless Kelman is fit then he starts ahead of Leaburn

Rio Ferdinand was in better gyms in Sidcup in the week - 100% true - not really relevant to our game against Oxford - I doubt anyway - but thought I’d report it through the Charlton life channels.

I’ve got horrible vibes about this one, despite the point earned at Brum last week.

Hoping I am wrong, but think this will be 0-1.

  • I think for this one we should be on the front foot, go all out. I don't mean we disrespect the opponent, they're no mugs and our recent form is worse than theirs. But we should back ourselves to get the game won, and won well. I'm thinking back to Huddersfield last season, the week after the drubbing at Peterborough, and we played with great purpose and like men possessed, and got the job done.

A less-risky, and more defensive performance might grind out a 1-0, but it could also backfire. I think this would suit Oxford.

We're more than capable of winning this with the players available.
