🎄CHRISTMAS TV FILM WATCH 2025 🎅

Comments

  • I’ve been slowly spotting films over the past week to line up and watch over Christmas when I get a chance and so far noticed F1, Mission Impossible, that panto one with Keiffer Sutherland for something festive and light hearted with a few laughs that’s not Elf (which I’ve already watched twice recently with my granddaughter), some gangster (?) thing called Alto ??? that looks like it might be worth checking out and another one I noticed earlier when scrolling down to watch something that I’ll need to go back and search for. All a bit random but a lot more promising than most weeks where it’s often hit or miss of finding anything at all when surfing through all that’s on offer over the multiple subscriptions we seem to have in our house.

OK, thanks for the heads up. It’s usually pretty obvious by two minutes in but that just adds to the number of films etc that keep popping up under ‘continue watching’
  • I've never seen Die Hard.
Maybe I should try it tomorrow.
Everyone says it's good but I'm not a fan of action films.
Not of lot action really, it all takes place in one building…

Just watched the trailer and he swings out of a window and back crashing through the glass, rolls down the stairs, multiple shootings etc. If that’s not an action film, I don’t know what is.

Anyway, it’s got absolutely nothing to do with Christmas, so should it be on the list?

    OK I'll bite!

Takes place on Christmas Eve at a Christmas party, has Christmas music, Christmas hats, Christmas references in quips, has themes around reuniting family for Christmas etc.

    Definitely a Christmas movie.

Home Alone is basically Die Hard for kids and everyone calls that a Christmas movie.

I watched Die Hard 2 for the first time in donkeys years last night. Not aged well, thought it was shite.

Not a patch on the first and lots of suspension of disbelief but I still really like it.

Only if he’s the bloke that runs Mcdowells in Coming to America…
  • The film version of Porridge is on bb2 at the moment. Not as good as the series which is normally the case when they make feature length versions of classic comedy series.
Anyway still has some good moments and worth watching. Richard Beckinsale who plays "Godber" passed away just a few months after the film was released.

Assuming you mean Franco Nero, yep he's the Latin American general fella.

Which one......the one where they play football against a Celebrity 11 ?  Some cracking one liners in that one.

    "Buck Tarbrush"

I saw Violent Night when it was on a few weeks ago. It's not brilliant but you can have a lot of fun playing "spot the Christmas film reference" as it leans quite heavily on a few of those.

Try not to watch the version where they overdubbed all the “motherfuckers” as “melon farmers”.
