What we need is Apter on the right, and then TC able to drift out to the left from his attacking position. Last season and this season, we have played our best football when we have threats on both flanks. Against Norwich with an injured Bree and half fit Bell we had no threat on either

I’d like to see the team as something like this:

                    Kaminski
            Gough Jones Gillesphey
    Apter  Anderson Coventry   Bell
                       Carey
                 Leaburn TC

I don’t think Kelman looks fit to start yet, but if he can that would be ideal. Also if Ramsay or Burke could start that would be huge, though Gough filled in well last game.

If Docherty starts in lieu of Anderson, then they'll be able to slice through our "midfield" at will.

I'm sure Pompey will be aware of this.

    Please no.
I think this is so wrong.
Karoy has energy in abundance, just doesn't know when or where to use it. He presses when he should hold and holds when he should press. The midfield is just disjointed with him in it.
Docherty may not be a world beater but he holds the middle together.
  • Norwich and Blackburn have winnable games. Oxford host Swansea. Win tomorrow night we're still in trouble; but less than a win and the table could look absolutely horrible.

Really hoping to see a performance. Be it battling, footballing, scrapping, don't really care - I just want to see us turn up with a game plan and to be competitive. Do that and we have a chance.

Regarding the kit issue, I am fairly sure you are not allowed now to wear different coloured shorts to what the actual kit is meant to be, as in we can’t wear black shorts with the red home kit. It’s different for the women’s game for obvious reasons.

We first wore the kit away at Wrexham and we played really well first half and should’ve scored a couple. We went on and had a moment of madness to lose it, but could have scored late on through a Berry header. We will score and win in the kit at some point, away at Portsmouth seems a good time to me.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see one of Knibbs or Berry start this. There will be a few changes with games so close to one another, and the horrible performance from the other day.

    Anticipating maybe something like:

    Kaminski
    Burke Jones Gillesphey
    Bree Coventry Carey Apter
    Knibbs
    Kelman TC

Mannion, Gough, Bell, Fullah, Anderson, Docherty, Berry, Tanto, Leaburn

NJ saying we only have two experienced fully fit defenders available at present .. said before it’s very frustrating that injuries are the reason we have fell away , with a full fit team like we had at the start we would have got results at Wrexham, Coventry , Norwich and home to Middlesbrough … but nothing he needs to do is scrap playing Carey in a deeper role , our mid looks to open and there no press .. Doc has to come back in with Carey back in his attacking role

best we can hope for drawer .. but another game we would win with out full fit team  out
I suspect now that you are a Russian bot. Any real person who has watched our games recently would know that Carey has been playing at 10, behind the strikers. So leave it out Sergei.
  • My 72nd birthday tomorrow. Is this really where I want to spend it.
Thr trouble with this "being the best version of ourselves" mandate is that it is impossible to sustain over every game.
We looked flat at Norwich, like we'd run out of steam. Or worse that we are starting to lose belief.
Yes the injuries have crippled us, but the manager wanted a slimline squad and this is what happens.
It happened last season too. Who'd a thought?
Get the injured back and a few additions in Jan and I am sure Nathan will re-energise them.
But it is starting to feel like a slog at the moment and I am worried we haven't bottomed out yet.
Guts out some points tomorrow and I'll feel a bit better

Had forgotten Pompey wear red socks so expect it's because of that (as shorts can be the same now). Shame kits can't be mixed up anymore, would much prefer this again..

I know we aren't playing too fluidly at the moment, but bit of a push wanting to watch the Scottish Pirlo in League 1 again 🤪
  • I still remember all them chances against

Leciester at home ,  yet now barly create anything .... so tomorrow i think our great record at fratton park ends

After watching the Norwich  game, sorry with that starting formation I see nothing but a 2-0 defeat.
Portsmouth not great, but we are a mid tableeague 1  squad hanging in there by the skin of our teeth.

Can’t understand why we (or any other team)
are not in their home kits unless there’s an obvious clash.   Although I think the Castore contract came with some caveats.

But I’m colour blind, so a real difference is important to me.

Some games are unwatchable on the telebox.

    Considering approximately 8% of
males and 0.5% of females have it, I’m surprised that there’s not more talk about that on here.

Having said that, I love all 3 kits this year.

We're not playing well at moment, but it's harsh to call our boys mid-table League One standard. They're better than that and a lot of them proved that last season with a superb promotion.

    Ridiculous thing to say.

We have shown we can compete at this level but you cant play well every week.

Long way to go yet to use the phrase "skin of our teeth"
  • This is a must not lose game if offered I’d take a draw now.

If you buy the shirts, they produce the shirts. (Just buy red).

If you pay for Sky, Sky will continue to operate and change kick off times.

If you buy supermarket meat, animals will be cruelly slaughtered.

If you buy from Shein or Ali Express,  workers will be exploited.

    Etc etc etc etc

The customer is the problem but can be the solution.

Now I don't mind this kit , but we've lost every time we've worn it and even the 2 times I wore the replica to games at the Valley,  we lost those too . I reckon it's jinxed . Why can't we play this one in red ?
    Contractual reasons.

We are more interested in picking up £250k in sponsorship money than the £10m we would get by still being in the Championship next season.

Absolutely shattered and like Charlton, far from the best version of myself, but leaving soon to make a day of it. Would bite your arm off now for a point.

If we lose though we really do need calm heads. Throwing the baby out the bath water at this point of the season will be more damaging than helpful.

18 points from the first 11 games and half that tally from the next 11. In my opinion shows the honeymoon period was over as soon as the injuries to key players kicked in, the squad is not good enough at this level (Not your starting eleven) and teams at this level finally work out how to play through you.

A must not lose game this evening as Pompey will be in the bottom six by the end of the season. No away wins since October (Ipswich)

Bodies slowly coming back into the squad and January can't come quick enough to bring in Championship quality enforcements (If the owners have given the management the funds to deal with)

If you stand still at this level you get found out at your cost.
  • Looking forward to/dreading this tonight.  Nieces first proper game to attend since only seeing the Pompey pre-season game two years ago.  Off work so a hotel booked to make an evening of it.  COYR!

isn't the reason because you can't mix n match kits now (new crap league rule) therefore we're not allowed to wear black shorts with our red shirt?

    maybe I dreamt reading that

anyway - we can't lose this one - can see a dull draw

Think this'll be one for the diehards. 2 sides that don't create chances , Pompey have no Josh Murphy tonight either.

    Drab 0-0

Think this is only the 2nd match this season I won't be able to watch, doubt I'll see Cov either. Hoping to get 2/3 points from the next two
