Is TC OK for Saturday? I thought he was subbed because he felt something?

At point where would rather keep Gough at RCB and move either Burke or Ramsay to LCB whilst we try and bring someone in.

Cannot bear to watch Gillesphey in the team again. He is incredibly out of form
Don't think he is out of form; he is just hopeless out of depth at this level, just ask Plymouth.

If Ramsay, Bell and TC aren’t available and Bree’s loan is up, who plays on Saturday?

Clarke RWB, Gough Jones Gilly CBs and Fullah / Apter LWB?

I was in the bottom left corner of the covered end lower last night so had a close view of Gittens v TC and without Bell we would’ve been in deep trouble in that first half, Gittens had TC on every single attack and Bell really showed that he’s just a level above the rest of our team IMO, he not only covered excellently forcing them backwards a few times, but was constantly telling TC where to be etc. If Bell is now out long term and TC is our LWB I think we’ll struggle, admittedly we won’t be facing anyone of the same quality of Gittens but TC was lost every time he was forced to defend (understandably.) I’d like to see a new LCB as well as a new wing back if we’re persevering with this shape.
Thats how i saw it on tv. Gittens was having a field day. Suprised at a lot of the other comments

I felt Chelsea got the ball to Gittens a lot, TC stuck admirably to his task with assistance from Bell.  Gittens looked great with quick feet and a load of step overs but ultimately got nowhere and was usually tackled or on a couple of occasions won a corner.  Considering he cost over £40M and the hype I would have been disappointed with his output if I was a Chelsea fan, knowing he was up against a young, Championship winger playing out of position.
I don’t think he got round the outside of TC even once. The only time he had any joy was taking the ball infield away from TC. Estevao had more joy taking on TC but he had fresh legs and is also one of the top young talents in world football

Where TC struggles is he has no defensive instincts, because he’s not a defender.

This last sentence says it all & the reason why playing him there makes no sense. You can get away with it in an emergency for 1 game. You cant expect TC to keep playing there & not get caught out multiple times a game. As they says about the definition of madness.....doing the same thing over & over and expecting a different outcome.

Once again people on this forum but a lot of blame at Gillesphey's door. Face the fact we are currently 9th best at conceeding goals in the championship but 4th worse in terms of scoring. Yet out problems seem by many to major on LWB by most. NJ cannot sort out the isssue down the left with too often playing TC out of poisition notwithstanding the issue with Hernandez experiment plus the french left back never to be seen. This added with the constant injury issues with Bell and which was known doesnt help. On the subject of Bell who is very stylish and assured he has indeed been culpable for some of the goals conceded (which generally goes unnoticed by most), Its unfortunate that with Edwards being out, Bell injured plus Ramsey injured on occassions has put pressure on that side (left) but the fact is that the style and formation is too rigid played by NJ. To consistantly put the blame at Macca and think that this will be the end to our problems ignores the other issues that we have. Of course we could do with better players but to consitantly ignore and play a formation that causes us problems it is NJ that should be singled out. Coventry not an assist or a goal, Carey doesnt mark, and so on as all players including the ever dependable Lloyd Jones makes errors. I reitterate we are 9th best at conceding goals yet 4th worse at scoring so ifeel the issues are elsewhere.

Apart from TC I feel pace is our biggest issue…especially in the middle with Doc and Coventry….

It does make sense though, he’s our best available option to play there

We might as well forfeit if those 4 are all unavailable. I think it will be just Bell missing, might even have Burke back involved

    Bree is available Saturday

So Bree, Ramsay/Burke/Clarke/Gough, Jones, Gillesphey, Campbell will probably be the side. The big question is who's actually fit to play RCB. If all 4 are fit I can see Gillesphey dropped and 2 of them starting in the back 3, but it'll mean one of them playing on the wrong side

Why are we so certain he’s available Saturday? Jones said “he is here until January 17th”. Without seeing the contract we have no idea if that means the 17th is his last day or his first day back in Southampton

Be a bit weird for that to be the date the loan ends. He’d be training with us all week for no reason

In Rich Cawley’s write up of the Clarke transfer he says Bree’s stay is due to end after the game on Saturday

Are we linked to any LWBs?

According to Peter O'Rourke there are Championship, league 1, and Scottish prem sides interested in Aussie A-league LWB Lucas Mauragis. Bolton and Port Vale are said to be 2 of the league 1 sides - https://x.com/AUSFUTNews/status/2011213330757959966/photo/1.

Really hoping we are looking too. Same agent as Matt Godden so would hope a connection of some sort is underway.

Nathan Jones should know , after all hé was happy with his (small) Squad at the start of the season.
If he does not know what are we paying him for.😅

How can we possibly know he was happy with the squad? The fact we missed out on at least one deadline day signing would suggest he thought there was still work to do.

That would surely mean he can play on the 17th. Otherwise he'd have gone back after the last game.

If someone in a standard job was contracted to work until 17th, that would also include the 17th.
