Blimey. I don't think there can be many faster outfields in the world than here. Check drives are running away from fielders.0

90-2 (19 overs in 71 minutes) at drinks. A wicket each to Curran and Rashid.

175-4 (37). Two wickets to Rashid now and one each to Curran and Ahmed.
The outfield might be lightning quick but the wicket is slow and most of the wickets to fall have been down to pilot error - LBW sweeping, bowled round the legs missing a very full ball sweeping, trying to hit the cover off a "moon" ball and totally mistiming it and another caught at slip off a leading edge sweeping. Hopefully we are better at sweeping and if not that we try and hit gaps that are a bit straighter.0 -
Shame there's no coverage of this on the radio0

271-6 (50)
Although this might take some getting, the Sri Lankan innings was a bit guilty of getting going a bit late and mainly thanks to a final over from Overton that went for 23. There was certainly no discernable increase in tempo prior to that despite having wickets in hand and Mendis, in finishing on 93* off 117 balls, really should have put bat to ball late on.
Pick of the England bowlers was Rashid with 10-0-44-3 though Dawson offered little to the batters in returning 10-1-31-1.0 -

I don't really know what the selectors do. We keep playing the same players hoping they come goodfenaddick said:Luke Wright standing down as selector post World Cup0 -
Who was our last bowler? That last over of theirs went for 23?!

Christ. Just looking at his figures and I thought it probably would of been him. Going at 7 an over economy, with no wickets.killerandflash said:

That's the problem, I'm just looking at the scorecard so in no way do I know how he bowled.MrOneLung said:

Bangladesh aren't backing down even though they've been given an ultimatum by the ICC. So Scotland will get the nod to replace.Addick Addict said:Bangladesh, who are in the same group as England in next month's T20 WC, could be replaced at the last minute by Scotland.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board recently wrote to the international governing body saying that because of political tensions between the two countries, they would not travel to India. Instead, they requested that their matches be moved to Sri Lanka. The ICC has responded that there are no specific threats relating to the Bangladesh cricket team and is unwilling to alter the fixtures this late in the day, leaving the Bangladesh Cricket Board and Bangladesh government with a choice: fulfil their group-stage fixtures in Mumbai and Kolkata, or pull out of the tournament.
I find it ridiculous. They pamper to India so they can have their matches where ever they want yet if another country has an issue they won't allow it. It's bad enough that India get funny about our players who have Pakistan heritage.0 -

That's because the "I" in ICC stands for Indian and not International.0 -
I do accept that the sweep has to be a "go to" shot at times but that's five batters, including now Duckett and Root, from nine dismissals that have got out out doing so.Addick Addict said:175-4 (37). Two wickets to Rashid now and one each to Curran and Ahmed.

Bangladesh have dropped out of the upcoming T20 WC.0
-
Brooks gone now stumped 156 for 4. Big turn on that ball, gripped into the pitch.
England need 115 runs from 13 overs. Can't see it happening..0 -
Another stumping 158 for 5. Bethell dances down the wicket and misses the ball. Ball is turning a fair bit.0
-
Bethell stumped too. I take it back about not sweeping. It doesn't matter what we try to do against spin.0
-
To be fair to the batters, the bowlers probably bowled too many "four" balls too. Our two most experienced spinners, Rashid and Dawson, returned figures of 20-1-75-4 whereas the rest of the attack had combined figures of 30-0-186-2 with our other two spinners. Ahmed and Bethell. producing between them 13-0-80-1.Addick Addict said:Bethell stumped too. I take it back about not sweeping. It doesn't matter what we try to do against spin.0 -
Good to see the white ball team are keeping up the consistency of throwing away matches.0
-
England didn't throw away the game, they were suffocated by the Sri Lankan spinners, and as the run rate got higher ended up having to take risks to keep up.
This was a traditional England slump against spinners on a slow pitch in Asia.1 -
Overton only has to hit 20 off the final over of the game which is 3 less than he conceded when he bowled that final over of Sri Lanka's innings.0
-
Strangely we are still in this..Last over need 20 to win.0
-
Overton slogs it and it's caught. Sri lanker win..0
