Spoke to a Birmingham supporting friend who said Dykes, Anderson and Leonard all had a massive fall out with the manager. Hence why Anderson had his contract cancelled, Dykes has I assume been paid up to go and Leonard is on the list.

His only comment on Dykes was "you must be desperate if you want to sign him".

Anyway, fans have been wrong plenty of times so, welcome Dykes, wishing you every success.
Can we have Leonard then! Get agent dykes on it

I don’t expect him to score that many goals in his half a season here - five would be an excellent return. I think he’ll frustrate a few people in the stands because of that but he’ll work his nuts off to Jones’ plan and that will make us a better team overall.
If he gets five goals this season, I'll replicate his tattoos on my own body.
When he gets a hat trick Saturday you’ll be worried 🤣

They'll be a proviso, anything other than exactly 5 will be a pass...😂
  • All the comments from brum fans seem disappointed he’s left “because his face didn’t fit” with the manager. Sounds like a good signing.

Seems like a much better get fit for our system than Birmingham's. Should be a decent backup / rotation option for Leaburn and a perfect "pain in the arse" to come on and bully tiring defenders. Bringing on him and TC would be perfect, TC to run at them and Dykes to rough them up.

If Leaburn can stay fit and keep improving I can see him starting more games than Dykes, but in having Dykes here we have the competition and cover to rest him that can only help get the best out of Leaburn.

It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out and whether we offer Dykes a longer deal.

The club also have to consider how Mbick’s progressing and other players out there.
  • Never rated him but hopefully he'll prove me wrong...

It’s worth noting that at roughly this point last time we were in the championship we were relying on Macauley Bonne and Josh Davison as our main strikers so getting in Dykes for squad cover doesn’t seem so bad.

From highlights looks like his goals come from around the six yard box from crosses (this is quite obvious i know)

He'll fit in with our other non-scoring strikers then. No service = no goals.
Would be nice surprise if amorim i mean jones could change to 442 for 1 game! Get tc and apter to put some crosses in

1-0 down in injury time with Leaburn, Dykes and Lloyd Jones pushed up top.

I don’t think it will be an advert for Pep’s tikki takka…

We can't afford quality, so we will return to playing the 'tough' but hard working plan. Get in the face of oppo and force them into making mistakes. It worked so well early season. Maybe we can return to what worked.

Welcome anyone that wants to join a struggling team and has a point to prove. He seems to everything that Ahadme et al wasn't. This is a no risk deal. If he's shit, like half the team, then he'll be gone in the summer clear out. If he shows some form, he'll get a deal out in front of him.

As noted by Cawley, the curious thing is that he joined Brum in summer 2024 and signed a THREE year deal, so would have been under contract until the summer of 2027, and not this summer, so has swapped 1.5 years at Brum for 6 months with us.
I believe things may have got a little heated with Lyndon and the Birmingham manager Chris Davies....hence finding  new place to go and play was deemed best all round
That's  what we like players with something to prove.

I think giving Leaburn a rest from permanent target man duties may well be to his benefit - his best moments from memory come when he is running at the defence on to a through ball or with the ball at his feet.

I can see why you'd think that, but in Birmingham a 'three year deal' refers to how long you have to wait for your bin to be emptied.

Is he match fit? Please God let that at least be the bottom line with our squad of semi-fit players.
He’s physically fit but not match fit .I don’t expect him to start above Leaburn or Kelman on saturday anyway.

Did we pay a fee for him?
With him signing and Godden nearing fitness, what does this mean for Tanto?
    League one player IMO

Rogerio Ceni once wore 618 in a game apparently, but in English football I think numbers are limited to 1 or 2 digit numbers
    Probably 2 :#

Picking 99 is such an odd move.
Couldn’t have number 9 so now he has two 9’s.

Hate the tats, love the stats. Welcome.
His stats as a striker ?????
Less goals in last 11 seasons than haaland gets in 1 season

Please don’t read into his goal stats everyone. That’s not his game, not what he’s for and not why we’ve signed him. Kelman is meant to be our goal threat, Lebrun and Dykes are to cause a little havoc and hold the ball up to allow us to get out.

If Dykes was a goal scorer, we really wouldn’t have been able to sign him in January. Hopefully he might contribute with a couple of goals between now and May but I’m thinking the LWB is really why may be the deciding factor to us staying up

He is referred to as Limbdon

Partly because he has a tendency to score "scrappy and unexpected goals" leading to "limbs" but also because of his un-elegant style of play which is said to stem from his rugby background.

Maybe not one for the purists but definitely a bit of Nathan!!
A perfect fit for Jonesball then, I know some people would prefer that we added creativity and skill to the team but NJ seems to be doubling down on his preference for physicality and athleticism with the two signings thus far.
and i make him right - we're not gonna outplay teams atm, we need to outwork and outfight them like at the start of the season / back end of last season

I'm expecting Leaburn to start games and Dykes to come on as the battering ram for the last half an hour, when we need a bit of a presence up top that alleviates pressure on our defence, or as a target man to disrupt defences and win long balls when we're chasing a goal late on.

Looking at his recent stats he doesn't start many games
Can also work the other way round.  Leaburn has really tired toward the end in some of the games recently.  Be good if he can come on with fresh legs in as much Dykes being a sub
i expect Leaburn to be the understudy - dykes hasn't come here to sit on the bench

sort of agree with that. Dykes has more physicality than Miles, in my opinion, will put himself about more, ruffle the defenders feathers and I think Kelman can work well alongside him. Let Dykes tire them out, bring Miles on about 60 minutes to help finish them off. Obviously there will be games where Miles will start but it’s nice to have two vieing for the same position. With Godden back on the bench too we effectively have Dykes/Godden or Kelman or Miles/Godden or Kelman. Doubt we’d see Dykes & Miles together.
