I doubt Jones will pick the team with Saturday in mind. This is a better opportunity for the points. Not that we can't get something from Millwall but the focus will surely be on 3 points tomorrow.
He should definitely have one eye on Saturday knowing what it means - if he doesn’t then I’m entering it into the ‘games gone’ thread
I don't know why. In days gone by managers used to focus on the next game. I would also say, agreeing with letthegoodtimesroll, that without doubt a win tonight will increase the chances of getting something on Saturday seeing as confidence plays such an important part in football.
In any other circumstances i would agree but i do not want to see us turn up with half a team on Saturday because we've tried to win 'at all costs' tonight - maybe a different view if you are attending the Den on Saturday to if you are not or even if you live in the area.

A win would be brilliant, but I can see us grinding out a draw. Derby are very good away, so I'd be surprised if they didn't come away with something.

As neither team is the sort to go for it, I can see tonight being quite cagey and indeed boring!

The comments about Derby's midfield made me check the statbank (thanks @lancashire lad) and Coventry and Doc were both in the top 3 rated players. On Fotmob he was our highest rated midfielder. Part of that is the assist for the 1970's Brazil goal that Bree finished off. Goes to show he can do it against 2/3 of the Derby midfield though. I'd be giving him a start

I remember Doc having a shot right at the death that looked like it was going in before Olaofe helpfully deflected it wide. Doc had a good game that day

Forget tomorrow guys Linnington one of the all time top 3 worst refs we ever had is in charge .. EFL getting there own back after Saturday ..

    Take a point now …

    Team
    Kaminski
    Clarke
    Burke
    Jones
    Gillesphey
    Ramsey

    Coventry
    Doc
    Carey

    Dykes
    Kelman

Compared to Trevor Kettle and Kelvin Morton, Linnington is nowhere near those two individuals
    You
must not have been at the valley on a Tuesday night v Peterbro .. it was the worse 90 mins I have witnessed .. a then  he gave them a pen late on ………. number one is Keith Stroud

Keith Stroud was infamous for disallowing a Newcastle penalty goal when a Geordie player encroached in the area and instead of a retake he gave a free kick to Burton !  Stroud was then suspended for the last 5 weeks of the season.

Linnington gave a penalty in that Posh match down the Jimmy Seed end against Lewis Fox despite it looking like a fair challenge; he also disallowed a goal down the Covered end in another match from a corner when he stated Taylor fouled the keeper.
    It really wasn't.

I can't remember my wedding anniversary but...

I skimmed through this thread and nobody seems to have suggested Anderson plays any part tonight. I thought he had an awful game Saturday but NJ never seemed to feel the need to change him for someone with better ball control or who can play a pass where our player is running to, not where he was four seconds previously. So maybe he did what NJ wanted Saturday or failing that, he was a player NJ didn't feel tge need to redy for tonight.
Beyond that, we need a win tonight, although Ill avoid saying we must win.

I'd take that ahead of some 'throw the kitchen sink at it' on Saturday. I see Millwall as being solid / boring but certainly beatable if  1) we turn up with a reasonably full strength squad 2) the f@@king curse f@@cks off
  • All out attack for this one.

    Kaminski

Godden - Mbick - Leaburn- Campbell

    Fuller - Kanu - Casey - Olaofe

    Dykes - Kelman

Bit harsh mate, I only predicted a 1-0 win.
