He has spent most of the season on the bench there by the looks. Only started 7 games
Looking at his stats he’s featured in 21 games, but only got more than 59 mins in 4 games.

    Its all very strange
Sounds like Chuks. Needs his minutes managed & cant last 90 mins.

Interesting one in terms of the nature of the deal. Feels like we really wanted him but couldn't convinced Stockport to do more than a temporary move plus Olaofe. I'd guess that if they don't go up and we stay up and he does well he'll be pushing for a permanent move. There's always the chance we go down, they go up and he gets to play Championship football for them either way. It's what we've been asking for though, a bit of pace and attacking invention down the right hand side to give us a bit more width. He feels closer to Small in profile than Apter, so that's a good thing

    Heat maps:

    25/26, Stockport (L1), 7 starts (21 apps total)

    24/25, Stockport (L1), 11 starts (25 apps total)

    23/24, Colchester (L2), 40 starts (44 apps total)

So Stockport have primarily used him on the right. At Colchester he seems to have played on both wings.

Chuffed with this.  He’s actually very decent.  Could be any number of reasons why he hasn’t played much at Stockport this season Or he could just be home sick a bit like Rob Apter maybe wants to go back up north.  I have had an eye on him for awhile and he is fast and strong and could give us something different.

Give him a chance.  I wouldn’t pay too much attention to the fact there is no option to buy, it’s probably just Stockport keeping their options open. should they get promoted

If he plays well and they don’t go up, he will join us I expect.  Sounds to me like he is more suited to playing as a wing back than Apter who is not strong enough.
Where did NJ expect to play Rapter then? (Not digging you out AT ALL, genuinely asking as I agree with you)

Why would a league one club loan out a player who had been playing regularly.....esp if there is no option to buy afterwards.

    Doesn't make sense.
He hasn't really been playing that regularly for them and they've got Tanto back. It's basically a loan swap deal.
  • Happy with that but why a loan?
Maybe owners not comfortable in giving fees given the fact two summer signings have been loaned out and dont trust recruitment judgement.

    Or we're brasic.

    Or both.

Wanted us to sign him in the summer to replace Small. Just what we’ve been asking for in a player that will take his man on
He’s going to play on the left though surely? Unless Chambers can get fit quickly and Harry Clarke moves inside to CB.

Desperately need some more creativity and flair in midfield, not least to free up Campbell (assume he goes back behind the forward) from being surrounded by three players every time he has the ball.
I would hope that he plays RWB with Clarke RCB but would imagine to start with he'll be dovetailing with Chambers. The benefit is because he can apparently do both we sort of save a squad place. We now have Chambers, Fevrier, Clarke and Ramsay available to play WB with TC and Bell as emergency back ups. Probably means Hernandez is leaving too
I like that if Chambers can get his fitness up quickly. Still need a replacement for Macca. That’s probably Coady if he’s up to it.

Because they were desperate for Tanto?
They've been banging on about Tanto for weeks.

His Stockport contract runs til July 2027 .. soooo, if we want him, it'll cost .. shrewd from Stockport .. they get Tanto back as striker cover and send a good player who right now can't quite get in the side out on a test drive to see if they want to keep him or sell him on at a nice price
  • Quite optimistic about this one. Let's see how it pans out.

    Welcome aboard Fevs.

Feel like I'm replying to you a lot this evening, not personal I promise!

Coady can only really play in the middle. I'm desperately hoping we sign a new LCB. If Bell is back soon then great but even without him playing WB we can't bank on him playing even 6/7 games in a row

All good - I’d forgotten about Bell for a moment. If everyone is fit, this isn’t a bad back 3/5. Midfield next please.

Good player when I saw him last season. Out of the two, I’d of preferred to signed him over Tanto but it’s a strange one, if he does well hopefully he’s one we can sign on a permanent.
  • Relegation rivals will be fucking terrified we've made a signing like this!

Looks a decent prospect and had good attributes we clearly think we can get more from, though not sure he is ready for the step up now.

Not sure we can play him RWB and Chambers LWB. Both a little too attacking for Jones I think. He may end up being competition/cover for both wing back roles. Gives us some depth I guess.

Sounds like this was the sweetener to loan Tanto to them.
  • We need wing back cover and someone that can attack but in true charlton life fashion, not this wing back who can attack?

@swisdom is a scout and rates him and the signing has pleased a former charlton wing back.  I'm disappointed that Apter has gone but we have someone in that position that is more suited to the way the manager wants us to play.  It gives us more options from the bench where fresh legs with pace to burn can worry tired defences.

I know this goes against the Charlton Life rules but can we please see him in a Charlton shirt before all the negative comments

I'm going to go ahead and trust Swisdom the scout and Manny the player on this one.

Thought he looked decent against us last year. Surprised he's not in their team but having a RWB who can play LWB is super handy. And he looks more attacking than Clarke so could be useful late in games.

I feel like this window is starting to come together. I wish things were different with Rapter, but they aren't. Tanto going out on loan makes sense. I thought Chambers looked tidy, we just need him up to speed. Coady represents depth. Clarke has looked decent so far, as has Dykes who very much looks like a Jones player. I think we've done a decent job of rebuilding our squad on the fly. Now we just need another midfielder who can run and is good in possession. It is, and always was going to be, the toughest ask.

A complete punt, like the two we’ve loaned out. Not categorically better Nathan. Shitshow this is.
