Leicester’s atmosphere
or lack of it.
Leicester are a fanbase I’ve always respected and the King Power has always seemed to have a good atmosphere
WTF was that about? I don’t think I have ever been at a game with a more silent , apathetic home crowd. And I’ve been Fulham’
Was bizarre. Never question The Valley atmosphere again

Absolutely agree, and I'm glad you bought this up. It almost felt like those fans hadn't been to a game before. Not even the younger fans close to the away end gave any aggro. You would think they would get behind a club legend manager too, but it just goes to show how little belief there is in this team.

There's deep, deep unrest there. I was surprised it wasn't more toxic8

They were the worst fans I’ve ever seen at The Valley earlier on in the season. I’ve seen teams like Burton bring 100 and make more noiseAFKABartram said:or lack of it.

The only time I heard them was when they were booing when Winks came on2
-
I'm pretty sure that's the first time I've ever heard a fan base booing a player coming on! And there were also boos for Ayew when he went off.3
-
We’ve been there ourselves, and so have they not so long ago. A sense of doom. They’re on a slide and it doesn’t look like stopping. Plus they have a points deduction to come. I expect they’re very worried about their club.AFKABartram said:or lack of it.

I spoke to a Leicester fan towards the end of their last promotion season and he said the atmosphere was terrible. It’s like they can’t adjust to not being premier league contenders.2

Being a player from their PL stay I suppose he’s on a very large wedge and if you miss a pen in such a way you are going to get stick. Plus he didn’t have a great game either. Regarding Winks, he’s not played much under the recently sacked manager and I read somewhere that there has been issues regarding his commitment.Rufus is a dogs name said:I'm pretty sure that's the first time I've ever heard a fan base booing a player coming on! It must be bizarre for them. Within the last decade they've won the PL, reached the CL quarter final, won the FA Cup and been relegated twice. That's before you throw in that their owner died in a tragic incident and then his son took over and has been a disaster. I have no idea how you're supposed to know what the expectations of the club are. They certainly shouldn't be staring down the barrell of a relegation scrap though which is exactly where they areUboat said:I spoke to a Leicester fan towards the end of their last promotion season and he said the atmosphere was terrible. They don't like that he refused to move from London, a bit odd if you ask me as plenty of footballers do massive commutesLargeAddick said:

Do a simple AI search about why Winks is unpopular at Leicester.Rufus is a dogs name said:I'm pretty sure that's the first time I've ever heard a fan base booing a player coming on! And there were also boos for Ayew when he went off.
It's not a short read!0 -
Genuinely never experienced anything like it. No noise at all, even when they won a penalty. So, so, odd.
Good job the Charlton fans made a fair old racket!!5 -

Think they did make a little noise when they got the penatly and shouted at the ref. Not much chanting. Was that drum us or them? (someone by me said it sounded like it was over a loud speaker)0 -
My mind went to Fulham too, but Leicester take the title for the worst home atmosphere I think I’ve ever seen/heard.
if they get any kind of points deduction that takes them into real danger, I don’t fancy their fans inspiring them to a decent performance any time soon.1 -
I think the loudest I heard from them was when they joined in with us singing du du du f in useless at Ayew.....
They were very quiet1 -
Someone on here a few weeks ago said our atmosphere is below average in the league, but I cannot see how it is based on a few places we've been to this season so far, and Leicester was the worst of the lot3
-
Started the “Leicester, give us a song” chant, but we had might as well been speaking a completely different language.Absolutely futile exercise in trying to help THEM create a semblance of atmosphere for themselves. They weren’t having it.2

We are easily top half of the table, maybe play offs for atmosphere at the valley. Long may it continuesam3110 said:Someone on here a few weeks ago said our atmosphere is below average in the league, but I cannot see how it is based on a few places we've been to this season so far, and Leicester was the worst of the lot

And yet plenty of away fans will state that the atmosphere at The Valley is poor and the home fans don’t sing.BalladMan said:

Perspective is everything.1 -
Support is odd, Many U have the best away fans but the atmosphere at Old Trafford is abysmal. I think the West Brom support will be "interesting" if current form continues.0

Leicester was bad, but Preston and Blackburn away wasn't any better.1

Been to Leicester a lot back in the day (parents both from Leicester), before their PL days their atmosphere was really good, one of the best I've been to actually. Very sad to hear it's fallen so far.
As for the discussion above about where we are in the "atmosphere league" - mid table at best4 -
See lots of them leaving at half time when outside. Anything can happen with 10 men but couldn't believe my eyes when I see them going.1
-
I think crowds need a spark to get them going and Leicester haven't had many of those. They lost at home to Oxford last week and now us. I doubt that is going to get them singing their throats sore. They also have the factor of winning the league and cup not long ago and playing in Europe. Add to that the pending points deduction and it is a gloomy place. We know that gloom in recent years.5

The best, the loudest and the more continuous atmospheres tend to come from those fans that are basically releasing the trials and tribulations they have suffered over years and reacting to the encouragement being triggered either from the pitch or by those around them.
leicester’s problem is that they’ve built up a fanbase that had been attracted by extraordinary success, the largesse of a very wealthy individual and the regular goals of James Vardy to paper over the cracks. Take those away and those fans have collectively lost the triggers and reactive memory to support the team.
We’ve built our atmosphere up around the core experience of those that endured the wilderness years at Selhurst and Upton Park, the emotional and totally unique back to the valley experience, the ownership issues, that extraordinary Pompey away game turning point for creating an atmosphere and a new generation that came along when for a large part we’ve been shit and in League 1. Basically, there’s enough of us across the generations that know how to shout and make a noise.13 -
What is the story on their potential points deduction?
When, what, why?0 -

When - they seem to think this coming week
What - anything from 6 to 12 points potentially.
Why - Huge PSR breach in getting promoted a couple of years back , they've been kicking the can down the road on it.10 -

6 points puts them below us, 12 points will see them relegated I would think. Let's hope it's 12!8 -
On the other hand, some Leicester fans on facebook saying we were the best and loudest visiting fans this season.16

Watched on the telly and couldn't believe how old Ayew looked. If I arrived at a zebra crossing alongside him in the street I'd be offering to carry his shopping and help him across the road if I didn't realise who he was.21
