Leicester’s atmosphere
Comments
-
My understanding is that it will be no more than six points.1
-
The best home atmospheres tend to be when a club is on the up, e.g with first time Premier League clubs.
Last season I remember cracking atmospheres at Wrexham and Stockport, two clubs full of positivity.
Leicester have lived the dream, now it stinks of decline.4 -
Literally couldn’t work out where in the ground their ‘singing section’ was supposed to be. Not even toxic, just silent throughout. Leicester fans I spoke to on the train up seemed very glum and pessimistic2

Thanks @MarcusH26MarcusH26 said:Henry Irving said:What is the story on their potential points deduction?
When, what, why?
When - they seem to think this coming week
What - anything from 6 to 12 points potentially.
Why - Huge PSR breach in getting promoted a couple of years back , they've been kicking the can down the road on it.0 -
It is a known fact that playing for palace at some point does rapidly age youRodneyCharltonTrotta said:twiggyaddick said:I think the loudest I heard from them was when they joined in with us singing du du du f in useless at Ayew.....
They were very quiet

As I read it there are 3 charges against them and they could get fined for all 3. A 6 point deduction (ie 2 wins) would basically give every other club carte blanch to go out and spend, spend, spend to gain promotion. Watch the financial side of the EFL collapse like a house of cards if that happensIsawsummersplay said:My understanding is that it will be no more than six points.4 -
I think that's partly the acoustics of the Valley and the sound not carrying to the JS, partly because of the open nature of the corners of the JS and also the JS holds the sound of the away fans.SporadicAddick said:
And yet plenty of away fans will state that the atmosphere at The Valley is poor and the home fans don’t sing.BalladMan said:
We are easily top half of the table, maybe play offs for atmosphere at the valley. Long may it continuesam3110 said:Someone on here a few weeks ago said our atmosphere is below average in the league, but I cannot see how it is based on a few places we've been to this season so far, and Leicester was the worst of the lot
Perspective is everything.
Ps any idea when the EFL will decide on a points deduction?1 -
Are there rumbles of the likes of Fatawu to leave tomorrow?0
-
No, only to Saudi which doesn't seem credible. Leicester clearly leaked some incomings to help PR though, Aribo on loan and Divine Mukasa on loan from Man City. Neither scream relegation battle players to meWSS said:Are there rumbles of the likes of Fatawu to leave tomorrow?0 -
The Premier League want them whacked with a big points deduction, so can’t see it at the lower end1

Had a quick look at their forum and it makes for a depressing read.
They are in no doubt that their atmosphere is absolute rubbish.
Most seem to think a nine point deduction is incoming.
Most see relegation as nailed on.
Every single poster that mentioned us said we were awful, the worst side at their place this season and this mirrored their comments after they undeservedly done us at the Valley.
And lastly, our fans were mentioned just the once, and that person said our fans were rubbish and only made some noise in the last seven minutes.12 -
Nothing more satisfying than beating a bad loser especially one you want to occupy a relegation spot instead of us 😉stockportugaladdick said:Had a quick look at their forum and it makes for a depressing read.

Put it this way, Leicester City have been lead to believe that the points penalty will be no more than six. At this level, they will not appeal.0
-
Let's be honest if you've followed a team which has won the Premier league and reached the quarter finals of the Champions league with players like Vardy, Mahrez and Kante, then watching your team play for 75 minutes with 10 men and lose at home to a club newly promoted from league one, is hardly going to be inspiring is it? They're also awaiting an impending points deduction that might well put them on the verge of relegation to league one.
Not exactly a happy time to be a Leicester fan, but i'm sure their atmosphere would be better for games against the Midlands clubs.5 -
As a fan you have to enjoy the good times and endure the bad times, it's what being a fan is all about.
I've been supporting Charlton for over 60 years and seen i believe 7 promotions and 7 relegations.
We have also had more than our fair share of poor owners which effects both the attendances and atmosphere.
As for Leicester and their fans I think that many believe a points deduction in the coming weeks could well see them end up in league one.
Considering they won the Premier League ten years ago that's one hell of a decline10 -
Leicester and SheffWed in division one is gonna make promotion tough for many teams2

We need a drum to create an atmosphere, not sure we can criticise other fans3

We didn't have a drum yesterday and that didn't stop us.arny23394 said:We need a drum to create an atmosphere, not sure we can criticise other fans7 -
Interesting to hear that. My Leicester mate has heard that it's going to be 10 points deducted.Isawsummersplay said:Put it this way, Leicester City have been lead to believe that the points penalty will be no more than six. At this level, they will not appeal.1 -
If it really is 10 points to be deducted, that would make life very interesting for them.stoneroses19 said:

And everyone else around the bottom of the table.0 -
It sounds a lot like the Spurs game is now, dead0

I too was surprised at the complete lack of atmosphere yesterday. I have been to Leicester a couple of times and it has always been one of the best. I heard the drum but it was very sporadic and didn't get anyone singing. All very odd. I know they are having a tough time but there are many other clubs that have more to moan about than them!
I am also not having people criticising the atmosphere at the Valley. We have had some very gloomy times ourselves but the Covered End always delivers a decent atmosphere. For comparison I have also been to quite a few away games where the home crowds have been very disappointing. We are definitely up there with the best.6 -
I hate drums at football matches as much as I hate tv commentary these days.ProperCharlton said:

I take it you weren't at Vicarage Road when we lost 5-0 to Watford in 14/15 then? Considering the scoreline, they were oddly quiet.se9addick said:Genuinely never experienced anything like it. No noise at all, even when they won a penalty. So, so, odd.
Lincoln City last season was another bizarrely quiet game. For the first time the chant 'We forgot that you were here!' was true as I had genuinely forgotten there were home fans at the game before they finally made some noise. I spoke to somebody after the game and apparently it's quiet there as a lot of the people in the home end are university students (who support other teams) that get cheap tickets.1 -
watched on tv and thought our support were fantastic. Chant of the season 'is there a fire drill' as they were all leaving. Made me laugh for ages.2
-
Stuff just six points, they will make that up easily, they needed relegating to league one, that would send out a real warning to anyone else thinking of doing that again...2

Preston and Blackburn were mentioned earlier in the thread. Our drum at least gets songs going and has a rhythm to it. The drum at Preston at least the last time I was there in 2016 literally started at kick off and just kept on continuously at the same beat all game long, as if it was a cheap labour sweatshop not even inspiring any songs.arny23394 said:We need a drum to create an atmosphere, not sure we can criticise other fans
The drum at Blackburn last time I was there in 2019 again just seemed to make constant noise. Can't comment on our most recent visits this season but these drums are quite possibly the worst i've ever heard and i've been to 71 of the current 92 grounds.2
