OK thanks. That’s helpful. I do still think it’s hard for players to have that presence of mind when it’s pretty much a 50/50 and they have to pull out. Yet NZ could spear tackle BOD with impunity and the “gentlemen” of rugby love a bit of dark arts including eye gouging. Maybe it’s why I’ll always be football first.Croydon said:
You just can't challenge soemone who's in the air like that. Arundel was never going to get the ball so should have held half a yard for Steyn to gather and land. Should have ben extra cautious as he was on a yellowWeegie Addick said:
I’m supporting Scotland here but looked to me like Steyn clattered Arundel with his knee up? In football we’d go mad if a goalie did that? But I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve always found the rules of rugby pretty impenetrable.Croydon said:
I disagree. Thought that one was completely avoidableWeegie Addick said:This is why the current rules of rugby are wrong - when a player has eyes on the ball and the oppo clatters into him and the first guy is penalised. Same happened to an Irish player today. What are they meant to do - dodge out of the way? It’s losing sight of being a contact sport.1 -

Today makes a mockery of the press saying we are in with a chance at the world cup.1 -
Yeah even the players in rugby can struggle to understand the offside rule 🤣. Mind you, we could always ask @AFKABartram to explain.Croydon said:

This is up there with one of the worst England performances I've seen.
Fucking fuming1 -
Imagine if Scotland turned up in any other game, they might actually be good2

Forward pass in the build up of the England try.1

Wish I hadn’t bothered watching that, pathetic2

Poor match from england. Lose the ball three times when 5m out. arundel ensures we play for 30 mins with 14. Scotland somehow fail to get a player sent off despite having no scrum for half the match and our kicking was shite all game including that drop goal attempt that essentially put the game beyond us. Terrible watch.1

England rugby team doing their best impression of flat track public school bullies. Pummel a pathetic Welsh team at HQ - fall apart in the face a committed and skilful Scottish side a week later5
-
Disappointing from England. Ill disciplined and not together.
It’s France’s grand slam methinks.0 -

France looked superb. Wales actually didn’t play too badly - just outclassed on the day.0

Never understand English folk who follow England for football and Scotland for rugby, I’m half Scottish myself but just seems strange to me.0

I support NZ boxers - Tua/Parker etc- and kiwi opposition in most other sports. I’ve only been over here for 62 years. Give me time.1

I’m half Scottish, half English and married to a Belfast boy. Grew up in London / Kent. Have lived in Scotland for the last 30+ years.palarsehater said:Never understand English folk who follow England for football and Scotland for rugby, I’m half Scottish myself but just seems strange to me.As a kid I chose England at football to stick up for mum after older brother and sister both chose Scotland.
Never liked the England rugby team so ended up doing a deal with husband that he’d support Charlton (formerly Spurs though at a distance) and in return I’d support Ulster and Ireland in rugby. In any sport Scotland are - usually - my second favourites unless or until they go all anti-English at football. I enjoyed the Calcutta Cup win yesterday mind you.
Mixed up? Me??5 -
But which English people do you know that do that? Surely they must have Scottish heritage to support another nationality?palarsehater said:Never understand English folk who follow England for football and Scotland for rugby, I’m half Scottish myself but just seems strange to me.
I don’t understand English people that support Rangers… I think that’s weird when the Scots allegedly hate the English.1 -
Second round over and nothing to shake the view that this is France’s Championship and, almost certainly, Grand Slam.
Ireland really laboured to a win over Italy. The scrum & Sam Prendergast are a mess at the moment. Despite England’s dreadful display at Murrayfield, they should punish Ireland at Twickenham next week. Scotland were superb. As others have said though, why can they only do this against England when they are so meek against pretty much anyone else? Wales were better than week 1, but that’s not really much of an accolade. Can’t see beyond the wooden spoon for them this year.1 -
I've never understood why some people are bothered about which teams other people choose to support4

In football when England play Scotland, I'm for England - if Scotland play anyone else I'm Scotland. In Rugby it's the same but I'm neutral when England play Scotland.I'm sixth generation born in England but I can trace my somewhat famous Scottish ancestry back to the 14th century, and that's very important to me. I carry the name and the blood.2 -
Rangers consider themselves British, not Scottish. You’ll find most Rangers fans don’t actively watch the Scotland national team.Curb_It said:
