Yes, I am not sold on him as a keeper. And not sure he is any better than we have to be honest. He holds the cards at the moment to say where he wants to go.Palace can refuse of course, but if he doesn’t leave this window the price goes down in January, and there is a big risk he leaves for free next season.It is his wages we have to be close with.2 -

You have to think about game state and personnel already on the pitch. Rakin-Costello came on in the 73rd minute at which point Derby had started to play again and open the game up. With us having equalised, it wasn’t like the momentum was fully on our side and Jones would have known that Chalobah was unlikely to make the full 90 minutes whilst wanting to try and get a bit more control at a time where if Derby had scored we almost certainly wouldn’t have got back into it.
So bringing on Rakin-Costello instead of Knibbs wasn’t anything telling, it was that we needed a bit more control. We still had Campbell, Alli and Leaburn for the counter attack (which showed for our winner), and it allowed us to be flexible in the last 10-15 minutes including stoppage time with future changes. If we needed or wanted to be more attacking, or the game momentum had switched, we could’ve brought on Knibbs and/or Apter with Rakin-Costello moving back. But as we know, the change worked and we went to a back 5 instead with the more defensive substitutions to protect the lead and get the bodies in the middle to defend the inevitable crosses that were coming in.
Knibbs, for me, has a big part to play this season and Saturday’s non-introduction wasn’t anything except Jones proving he made the right substitution for what was needed because let’s be honest, would Knibbs have been in that position and played that ball through to Leaburn? Unlikely as he’d probably have been closer to Leaburn meaning Derby would’ve continued to have the ball and build a new attack.
There is a lot more than just Rakin-Costello being the furthest forward midfielder so he must be in the 10 position and that’s where Knibbs would play so he could be off.
For me, it was a clever decision and one that allowed flexibility in our approach for the rest of the game.

Too right it is so it’s not done lightly. Coventry has been the type of player who puts himself about but nobody ever notices, hence the criticism he often gets from fans. On Saturday it seemed me he was noticeably everywhere and I think that’s because there seems to be a more positive balance to the team. Early days yet but credit and encouragement where it’s due to let players know they are on the right track and where they should be headed.eastterrace6168 said:

Call me delusional, but I reckon if it's us or Burnley and the wage disparity isn't too wide, he will pick us.
Been fairly unsuccessful elsewhere, knows if he comes here he will be an almost guaranteed starter, stays near family, Tyreece is his best mate, friends with Kayne as well and I genuinely think he loved being here.
I reckon if we offer Palace a reasonable fee and we offer Jes decent Champ wages, he would sign.18 -
The problem we currently have is still the lack of a pivot in midfield. For the first 20 minutes on Saturday, TC was completely isolated on the right. He twice had to go back to the level of our penalty area to try to receive a pass from Macnamara.
Even if we do get another right winger, unless we solve the midfield issue we will end up with somebody else isolated on the right wing.3 -
So JRS likely becomes our record signing. A lot of pressure for whoever it was going to be.He’s performed for us once before, let’s hope that he can do it again3

I wouldn’t be paying anything like 4-6 mil and 10 is just madness . What is the justification? He had a good loan spell with us but he didn’t exactly pull up any trees a Stoke or Sheffield United and he’s definitely not going to break in the Nigel’s first team .
Its Ok for Palace to say Burnley have bid £10 million (or whatever) and Charlton have only bid £4 million so you're going to Burnley. However, if JRS tells Palace I want to go to Charlton not Burnley and I am not going to sign for Burnley under any circumstance, there's not much Palace can do to make him move to Burnley. In fact, I'm not sure there is anything they can do.
So, who knows, if he really wants to come to Charlton, Palace maybe forced to accept a substantially smaller bid than is on offer elsewhere.1 -

I’ve not seen enough of him to know, but he was first choice for the bulk of last season and they nearly made the playoffs.DubaiCAFC said:

If distribution really is one of his main weaknesses along with needing a bit more consistency that isn’t a big deal for us. We’re not a possession based team, and he’s young enough to become more consistent.
He’s clearly on the way out, it’s like saying Kaminski is third choice - he is, but only because he’s unlikely to be here by the time the window closes.
He seems like a good option to me on ability and potential, but it depends who else is available and how much each player would cost.5 -
Would love to get JRS back, just can’t see how we make the finances work though.2

Can't see us paying anything close to £4m for JRS, unless it's mostly add-ons. I'm also not sure how they could demand such a fee for a player who has less than 12 months to run on his contract and hasn't been a success at this level.
I don't think we'll sign JRS, I would imagine it's Arthur Okonkwo on a permanent and then a loan to supplement the RW spot.5 -
JRS scored one in five in the championship which isn’t bad for a winger. To give you context TC scored one in fifteen last year and people on here were valuing him at 5 million. If you read the fan forums it is almost identical to the comments about TC here. Incredibly dangerous in the attack but poor defensively and needs to improve crossing.
