Our starting lineup four years ago yesterday:

O’Connell was such an odd transfer
What was even more odd was a thread popped up on here about him being our best CB apparently when being sold! Pretty sure he spent his last few weeks on the bench after returning from injury.
He was our best centre back for that first half of the season in my opinion, but that probably says more about the rest of them (Lavelle, Thomas etc) than it does about O'Connell.
I quite liked O'Connell, quite effective at CB and always looking to bring the ball forward and start an attack.

But while more of a footballing CB, he  was pretty slow and easily turned.

  • Cawley just shared his interview with NJ about JRS from the other day on his instagram….

Can see the announcement video now.

A pair of legs walking along a street to an orange Alpine car.

The camera pans up to TC signing a ticket and putting it on the car windshield.

    He here’s someone shout wait!

The camera pans again and it’s JRS who says I was just coming back!

If they dont do an annoucement video of the orange Alpine driving down the road.... Take Me Home by John Denver drifting out the window in the breeze.... pulls up...

driver gets out (feet shown only)... opens the passenger door.... another guy gets out..... camera pans back.

    Welcome Home text on screen.

    Its a missed chance.

Yes, the bloke who actually owns the car should drop JRS at The Valley.

I'm beginning to think you're all getting your knickers in a twist.

Forget bed wetting, there'll be wrist slashing, if he doesn't sign...

Charlie Kirk got to be one of the worst players of all time to put on our shirt, he was absolutely crap 95% of the time, obviously had some hardships while coming down but I don't miss praying every GW would be the one where he would finally knuckle down and turn it around, only for it to never happen
Kirk being shit because he lost his dad, is something that got repeated so much it became believed as fact. When in reality, Kirk was shit because he always was shit. Average technique, no pace, no strength, and no grit.

He just managed to shank in a few goals back post one season for Crewe when he had a high performing wing back taking the focus of opposition defenders.

Let us dream! 20 years or so of absolute fucking shite in the main and now we're excited about signing top players with loads of potential to take us on to the next level.

If it doesn't work out we'll hit the bottle, but for now I'm twisting my knickers and getting excited

    Too right.
A lot of us have spent a lot of time and effort wishing and praying for him to return to the Club.
If he signs make no mistake, it is US that made it happen.

A more sobering thought is we're getting all excited about signing a player palace don't want - having said that, looking at their recent transfer business.....

BT have ground my business to a halt today. We have no phones no internet no emails and I have over 60 people being paid to sit a do fuck all. That should be my biggest stress today but actually I’m more concerned about being on here waiting for a sign that JRS is done lol

    Boss of the year 🤣

Haha hardly mate more a sign that I’m too invested in us signing a player that would probably turn out shite for us anyway haha

Lads, I understand AO might have a lot of upside and Wrexham have a different transfer/player development policy to us.

But with him being 3rd choice for them, surely it's more of a risk to get him on a long contract and he does not develop with us and we end up with a team of 2nd/3rd choice keepers on our book.
He played 39 games last season hardly a third choice keeper
But he was behind Ward until Ward got injured. And now Pattinson he is now behind Ward and Pattinson.

So yes he is Wrexham’s third choice keeper.

I’m not saying he is rubbish, just that I don’t think a loan deal is that bad because he’s clearly far from proven.
In the last 4 seasons he’s played
    37
    36
    33
    39
I don’t know how he can be much more proven

    New bread pun, nice
    But was it needed?

Surely that's 60 people you can place around Sparrows Lane with binoculars. Call it a company retreat/team building

Maybe we should wait until he signs before deciding formations

You know that, I know that, but getting ahead of ourselves is a prerequisite for Charlton Life and adds to the excitement despite the myriad of obstacles that can happen including CAFC being gazumped before pen is put to paper.

Compared to the doom and gloom of a few weeks ago this is a "Good time to be alive" for addicks.
