Nelson was on loan at Brentford last season and played 118 minutes across 10 games. His longest time spent on the pitch was 45 minutes and the next longest was 17. Before that he spent the season on loan at Fulham, played a bit up to December and then was out for the rest of the season with a hamstring injury. With that in mind you have to weigh up his level of talent, reputation and former salary against the fact that he hasn't completed 90 minutes since 2023 and has severe injury issues. Obviously he's well outside our reach but it would be quite unlike us not to go for a hugely injury-prone player who's barely kicked a ball in his life6

Signing a cetre half on loan reminds me of signing Steve Stacey in the late 60's who scored an equalising header on his only appearance, at the Valley. Does anyone else remember him, the first black player to play for us so a significant moment , still alive, living in Australia and 82 yesterday.9

Nelson has MLS or Turkey all over it. Too injury prone and hasn't played a full season of football in basically his whole career.8

Football at the top level is going through a phase where it's become incredibly physical again and the main non-negotiables in a Nathan Jones team are that you are fit, you run for 90+ minutes and you are aggressive and front-footed. I think most players will recognise that playing under a manager who can help you develop the attributes needed to succeed at the highest level is a pretty positive thing, and if you're Forest I can see sending a 21 year old CB prospect off to the man who trains people to be Murder Bastards as a very pleasing idea. Add to that the fact we're playing a bit more football at the moment and it seems like quite a good time to join the partyLeuth said:I do feel like there must be some sort of Big Club algorithm agents and coaching staff have access to that we've imperceptibly soared up over the last few weeks.
