It'll never happen under Jones but I'd also deregister Brooks and bring in another striker but there you go
Hasn't that already gone wrong against Spurs?

Not giving up on Knibbs after a mauling against Spurs in a weakened team. Ridiculous.

Has a lot to offer and think he will be fine once he has some more minutes in the league.

Mbick isn’t up to The Championship yet.

Would be happy for him to go out on loan to L1 if it means getting a striker in.
It does not. He is underage so does not help the squad numbers.
It doesn't help the numbers game, but it might help his development.

I'm high on Mbick and I think he's show little glimpses in his very brief cameos that there's something special about him, especially for his age. But given he's coming back from such a big injury, I wouldn't be overly surprised if we loaned him out for six months and tried to bring Jebbison in for that period of time. Maybe it will be the whole season. But I think the issue is fitness/sharpness with Mbick, not ability. And I just worry it's going to be hard for him to gain that fitness/sharpness when he's only coming on in cameos.

As mentioned, it would mean another outgoing though. I think JRC is safe at this point. He's started the season strong and played in every game. Harvey Knibbs has only played in the cup. Ditto Apter. So I think it will be one/both of them depending on the midfield situation. That would leave Carey, Grant, and JRC for the 10 spot (I believe Alli has also played there), which is a decent amount of cover.
Leaburn won’t be able to start every game (we’d be stupid to try and make him). If we don’t sign a striker then it’s likely Mbick starts some games coming up, so he’s going to get plenty of chances to get his fitness and sharpness back. After the international break with Kelman and Godden back it might be more difficult but he’s got to take his chance over the next few weeks to get ahead of them in the pecking order
Fair point about Miles. But with Kelman due back soon (it seems) and then Godden after the international break I don't know that Mbick will get much of a look in or even make the bench when everyone is fit. And I worry that isn't the best for his development. LargeAddick said:
Am I the only one who thinks Mbick isn’t ready to start games in the Championship? I’ve seen nothing to suggest he is. Hanging around for ten mins here, fifteen minutes there isn’t going to help his development. A season long loan to League One is what he needs.
His highlights and reviews from Colchester last season make me think he's at least close. Now close doesn't necessarily mean he's there but this season is such a small sample size that I wouldn't judge him much by that.

It's definitely a tough decision that weighs team needs (him not taking up a squad spot is massive) versus individual player needs (him being fourth choice, if that's the case, wouldn't be ideal for his development).
Speculation but I'm wondering if Jones is thinking that this system with the players we have in the 3 behind the striker works so much better with a physical presence. And so wants another player like that up top. When kelman played as a lone striker at Orient it was all about the through balls in behind for him to run onto. We don't really play like that. So another big man might be key to maintaining form.

Does raise the question of what does that mean for Kelman and Godden. Don't really need both for if you're chasing a late goal and want to go 2 up top..

Would take just a RW at this point, and shift 2/3 out

Also getting rid of your 3rd keeper would be so silly, what happens when you can’t get an emergency loan?

It won't happen under any Premier or Championship team to have only 2 keepers registered.
There's 5 championship clubs with only 2 keepers registered currently

For me - I would like to see a RW and someone who can play in this 10 role.. I don't think we have anyone that is really suited to that role.

Only Knibbs Grant and Carey …. Knibbs was excellent in pre season and really linked up well with Grant very unlucky not to start the season
They are not a natural number 10. They are players that playing as 10!
What would you say Carey and Knibbs natural position is then?
Certainly not a 10. Ball control no where near good enough. They are advanced midfielders! Or 8s

Not sure what to expect today.

Still think our Leaburn / Kelman / Godden trio just might not be there, but that changes if Leaburn adds goals to his good start to the season, or Kelman shows he can link well with Campbell and Grant. But if neither happens, we are struggling for goals imo

Huge danger of me thinking we might not need JRS after Alli’s excellent 2nd half on Saturday. Can he do that consistently?

If you look at the modern game, especially in the championship, the best ball players now play deeper where there is more space to get on the ball. Number 10s are more important to pressing and out of possession than they are to building attacks

Thats why we wanted to sign Holsgrove to play in one of those deeper positions.

This one is big time - If we can shift enough players off the books we can get more in -

    I'll be ready
Good luck. What position do you play?
    Left mid - lol

Absolutely not. As good as he was Saturday, his prior showings were decent/adequate at best. He's a classic case of "inconsistent winger syndrome" and cover is a must.

What is everyone expecting today? So many deadline day disappointments in the past, who are we going to miss out on this year?!

Expecting us to have a late failed move for a Sunderland player as in the last couple of windows

Usually a realist, but a small part of me still thinks we're gonna sign JRS today.

And I'll end up being really sad if we don't :)

No idea why. Just a gut feeling. We’ll see two out and one in but it won’t be a name we have seen before. Oh and the Finnish kid.

We're not reliant on the 9 to be our main goal source though.

We have goals all over our front 4 now, especially as they are so fluid now in their positioning, making us much more dangerous than a team with just one goal threat.

Similarly TC is thriving, as he's no longer the only source of creativity.

We need 2 players per position plus a few extras, and I don’t have confidence Apter will step up this season so we definitely need a RW.

Sunderland are looking to loan out Simon Adingra but no chance he comes down to the Champ.

I do doubt Edozie has handed in a transfer request at Southampton to force a move to Charlton.

He says he's done it to play football, that suggests he's looking to join a club with weaker wing options than Southampton. I don't think it's impossible he'd come here

Just can't see the fit with Edozie being more of a left sider.
