I think the powder we were keeping dry got pissed on when the JRS signing went south. We were only prepared to fork out £5m on JRS because we saw a potential £8m+ return in the next couple of years. It would’ve been an investment signing.
I don’t believe we’ve got £5m burning a hole in our pocket. We’ll only splash that kind of cash if the right investment signing comes along.

I was going to question Skipp's technical skills and how that might not mesh well with Coventry compared to Chalobah but I've just seen that he scored a bicycle kick last season so all doubts have been cast aside. If we're wielding dual bicycle kick threats in Skipp and Lloyd Jones then the Championship won't know what hit them12

Cawley wouldn't say 0% chance if he didn't know nothing was happening there. Feels like we can close that book.19

If you honestly think Skipp is a good signing, then I wouldn’t suggested looking up “Skipp” on the #LCFC hashtag on X. Their fans despise him, and most of their worries come from not being able to shift him due to his wage demands. None of them seem to rate him as a player either, and think they are a better side without him in the team. It’s hugely underwhelming unfortunately.Garrymanilow said:Oliver Skipp would be an absolutely crazy signing. Wasn't that long ago he was being positioned as Tottenham's first choice holding midfielder and being talked about for England. Then he was a £20m signing for Leicester in the Premier League. Two seasons later he's a L1 player we're seriously looking at. I could see Leicester being willing to let him go for very little or nothing given he's apparently on £50k a week but even if we offer him half that it's a lot to invest on a player on a real downward trajectory. Feels a bit like we've realised JRS is off, gone for a low salary alternative in Nkeng and shifted the money we were willing to throw at Jes into the CM position but it's a real gamble to be giving that to Skipp instead. What were Leicester opinions on Yann Kermorgant? What were Charlton opinions on Simon Francis? You see it time and time again with the higher earners in football that go into clubs. Not all of course, but a very large number.
We’ve started well as a team, there’s a great feeling around the club and in the changing room at the moment, and we don’t need an arrogant personality to come along and potentially unsettle that. If he had the ability of Pirlo then perhaps it would be a bit more worth the risk, but the Leicester fans that have watched him for 3 consecutive seasons think ability wise he is crap. Yes it’s an opinion but it’s totally an opinion worth valuing. If it were all about wages or transfer fees, then why would a lot of us have been happy to see someone like Coady back? Because he is a leader and great personality to bring into the squad. He was vital in keeping us up last season and took to the club and fans like a duck to water. That makes paying his high wages totally justifiable.
There’s a big difference between that and someone that would likely immediately think they’re too good for us.0 -
Potentially going from signing JRS to ending up with Nkeng is like going on a date with Helen Flanagan at 8pm but ending up in bed at midnight with Hayley Cropper.

Nathan Jones doesn’t sign those players, I think one of his best attributes as a manager is recruiting the right personalities and putting together a good dressing room and it’s why he’s been successful whenever given time to do that5 -

I don’t think his age matters too much. If you’re good enough you’re old enough and all that.He looks confident and fairly strong on the ball. In a perfect world we get him in and he does well enough for us to get a decent fee in a year or two2

If we sign skipp does that mean we have to offload one of Knibbs or JRC - don’t feel like doing the maths right now0
-
I get all the arguments about his previous potential and possibly able to reinvent himself under a new manager etc etc but Rak-Sakyi to Skipp would be one of the biggest fall offs in expectations in a long while.

I’m not doubting NJ’s ability to man manage as such, however look at what happened with Kaminski recently, and Kaminski was someone he’d known and worked with before. There’s just zero guarantees, especially when a player is known to have attitude problems.NabySarr said:
