Christ, all getting a bit tetchy on here isn't it! We only have to be linked with a Leicester player apparently and the negativity seeps into the forum.

    Not even an Ipswich player!

So the right winger we kept our powder dry for is a 19 year old left winger from AFC Wimbledon who scored 2 goals in 34 games? Got it

I personally think Skipp would be a good signing, also him & Coventry played youth football together for Spurs so should have a good understanding between them
Coventry played for West Ham academy from the age of 10?

Im not sure what age it was but someone i worked with used to work for spurs youth and told me he coached CC when he was younger along with Skipp

No. It was JRS, when that move broke down for various reported reasons we have moved onto another option. Just because the club were willing to spend 4m on JRS doesn’t mean they will be willing to spend that on a different right winger.

No. We kept it dry for JRS then the deal fell through. If we don't think there's a winger out there for the money that is a realistic signing then I'd rather we did this than overpay/waste on someone else instead

If you all just calm down for a moment, I'm going to quote @stjohnshill's original post below:

    Junior Nkeng - welcome to SE7! ✅

Olivier Skipp also could be joining
Quick internet check reveals that he is PSG's current centre forward and that he scored 36 goals in Ligue 1 last season and 14 goals in the Champions League.

What a let down. If that's the only winger then that's crap. I know nothing about the kid but if he's a 'proper talent' someone would've taken him earlier and not just linked with supposed clubs.
Just like someone would've signed TC if he was a "proper talent"? All sorts of reasons why a 19 year old might not want to move away from London (even if he is Catalan)
Your point is weak. We need a winger and this is it but you choose to make a comparison to TC and living in London. No I wouldn't want to sign a 19 year old TC right now for what we need. Helmet.

I would ask my Leicester mate about Skipp, but he's one of the most negative blokes in the world and would tweet Schmeichel after every game calling him shit.

I don't think he's ever said a player is good except Vardy, Mahrez and Kante.
I think we must have the same Leicester supporting mate 🤣

    Skipp is massively underwhelming.

It feels like the signing you make because its the only one you can, not because its one you desperately want.

It also feels like padding out the squad, (which incidentally is relatively over-padded), rather than improving the first XI.

Happy to admit I am wrong if he comes in and does well, but I think he will be another Allan Campbell where we are left to wonder what on earth the thinking was.

I think the powder we were keeping dry got pissed on when the JRS signing went south. We were only prepared to fork out £5m on JRS because we saw a potential £8m+ return in the next couple of years. It would’ve been an investment signing.

I don’t believe we’ve got £5m burning a hole in our pocket. We’ll only splash that kind of cash if the right investment signing comes along.

That’s only if he performed … done nothing over the last few years in the loans he had no one followed it up with a move ?

Just trying to have a discussion. You're very welcome to disagree with me and I would have left it there had you not got personal. I have plenty of disagreements with plenty of posters because that's the point of a site like this, it's about sharing and reading opinions

Unless we’re signing a 19yr old wonderkid and doesn’t count towards squad registration opposed to cleary can’t see a single L1 winger that would improve us
    You knew didn’t you?!

Surely this Nkeng kid is just one for the U21s like the Finnish kid.... must be going after a proper starting RW surely.

Perhaps because if TC keeps the current performance levels up, then in Jan or perhaps next summer a club in the Prem may come looking.
NJ has said we wont stand in a players way if they are going quicker then us.
So perhaps this new signing will be readied to slot into the vacant position when ready

If someone from the Championship had taken Leaburn off us at 19 we would have been absolutely gutted and said how envious we were of that forward thinking club (e.g. when Brentford took Konsa off of us). A player doesn’t need to be a ‘BIG’ name in order to be an excellent signing.
I'm talking about being ready for where we are now. Not bothered about four years down the line, we need a decent RW now.
