    Cawley saying "Nkeng will be the winger signing" suggests otherwise. Lots of faith being put in Alli

    NJ has said we wont stand in a players way if they are going quicker then us.

    Which is fine if that’s the plan, but we’re left with a square peg in a round hole on the right that we haven’t addressed so it’s allowed to cause some annoyance

    If Skipp is true, sounds very much like a loan to me given he’s a clear high wage earner. 

    Personally would have preferred Dobson back, but I’ll be fully open minded if he arrives

    No. It was JRS, when that move broke down for various reported reasons we have moved onto another option. Just because the club were willing to spend 4m on JRS doesn’t mean they will be willing to spend that on a different right winger. 
    We all know we need a starting right winger to come in. Jones himself has spent all summer saying that and every game we’ve played so far this season we’ve had a left winger start over there.

    If our solution to that is signing another left winger, from League One, who’s barely even played men’s football - then forgive me for being underwhelmed.

    Might be one for the future, great, but we need someone for now (hence why we were going to spend all that money on JRS in the first place), does Nkeng seem like someone who’s instantly going to improve the team?

    In his bio on Cawleys piece, just released Nkeng says in his own words, “I’m a left winger, who cuts inside”

    Just shows how his standing has dropped..  Spurs mate saying Skipp should be quality for us.... only 2 years ago he said he was a first choice midfielder for them (and in a better performing team than now)

    Ademola Lookman was allowed to play 21 L1 games after clearly showing his talent in 24 Championship games the previous season before someone came in for him.     It isn’t a strange one, it's a common one. Ademola Lookman is once in a generation. I'm talking about a RW for now, not three or four years time.

    Neither are ideal, we’ve already got one loan in the centre would prefer to have either not used it and wait for Jan or a rw.

    Feels like we've pivoted from spending big wages on JRS and potentially spending less elsewhere to spending less on a winger and then putting that wage money into a more expensive CM. No sense in spending big on a winger if he isn't the right player and we can potentially go in for JRS again in January when his price will be lowered and his agent issues might be sorted out

    Honestly I think last season our central midfield pair or trio was a massive issue when we went on that bad run pre January. We were getting run through and played around at home with Doc and Cov. It was only when we got Coady alongside other reinforcements to stabilise us. We don't want to be in this position again with one injury away from that combination again.

    Everyone loves Doc and we all appreciate his commitment to the club, but you cannot compare him to Skipp and the level he's played at. Only 25 years and looking to rebuild his career back in London, he contracted to Leicester until 2029, so will only be a loan. No one can deny he is an upgrade on Doc.

    Very exciting youngster, happy to take people on, a bit raw but will mature with age. Worth at least a million. Shame we can't have Kanu.

    He only turned 19 a month ago & has only played 24 games in the EFL. 

    Maybe one for the future (and we had one of those in Dixon) but you really can't compare him to JRS.

    But that's exactly the point; it's common that a talented player with potential won't be snapped up immediately, which is the original point you made. You're right; Lookman was an incredible talent and he still didn't have anyone willing to take the plunge on him until January so I don't think you can assess the potential level on Nkeng just because no-one has signed him yet.

    I reckon the club have assessed other RW options, decided that there's not enough value in the market for what we want and, possibly influenced by the apparently zero interest in Apter, have decided that with our good start we can go through to January with Alli, TC, Grant and Apter and see what Nkeng can bring in addition. The money we've saved there can go into a CM and maybe we look at JRS again in January

    Afraid not. All the noise on Rak Sakyi was just that noise. When Charlton pulled out it was never going to be resurrected.

    A bit of a bummer for Tagoe and Reid, similar ages to Nkeng but not a look-in for pre-season.

    I think Apter stays now and we go back in for Rak-Sakyi or another RW in January if Apter hasn’t stepped up. Don’t think Nkeng will get many minutes and when he does it will be from the bench

    I’m still convinced Apter can rise to the level.

    That being said I was convinced that Kirk was going to click at some point so what do I know

    Christ feels like many of our fans still got stinking headaches from the bank holiday weekender, cheers up chaps might not be Jes but I remain incredibly open minded to both potential transfers given what Nathan has delivered for us over the last 3 years

    Skipp is a bit of a juxtaposition for me. Will be really underwhelming but do also think he has the potential to be really good in a Nathan Jones side
