I understand due to the standard of the leagues it's a career progression. But to go from playing in the Europa League to playing for our U21s must be weird for the lad.
Also find this really odd, hopefully there’s an expectation to get him into the first team. Maybe to replace Apter in January.
  • Still really cool that he sees our U21s as a step up in his career.

Really exciting deal... Hope that you have a great time with us Otto

Nice way to Finish the Transfer Window
  • I struggle to see how/why he'd join if there wasn't a chance he'd be in and around the first team squad.
  • Train with the first team, get game time with the U21's and adapt to life in England. If it doesn't go well, go back to Scandinavia. I also thought it was weird at first but I kind of like it as it gives all parties a chance to assess things
  • U21s are being streamed 7pm tonight, be nice if he at least made the bench but might be too soon. Fingers crossed he does as well as we hope and we sign him permanently.

I think it avoids another Dixon situation. He wasn't at the level for L1 and once we went up at the end of his first season it was clear he was never going to feature for us. It probably would have been better for all parties if he'd just been able to go back home and look for another move but instead we had to send him out on more loans before finding a buyer for him and we likely lost money overall on that deal. If Otto is nowhere near it he'll go home and not be a teenager stuck in a foreign country trying to find a transfer and if it goes well we'll sign him permanently

  • I like this move. The kind of signing we used to make back in the Curbs days.
  • Also a chance that if we like him and think he needs more than U21 football, we could sign him in January and look for a loan for him. Or we could even use him ourselves once we’ve signed him permanently he won’t count to the squad restrictions

This is a fantastic point. Depending on the draw we could use him the FA Cup third round too

I forgot how well known you are for subtlety in your humour...

Exactly this, i don't think it's weird at all. I'd imagine any 18 year old kid from the Nordic countries would jump at the chance to join an English team, especially one with a good track record of progressing youth players to its first team.

Also the Finnish league season runs from April to November, so in 2 months time he'd have nothing to do.

He's in the shop window to earn himself a contract, and if it doesn't work out he just goes back to Finland. Even if we don't end up taking him on, he might show enough in an U21 game that another English team takes a punt on him. So i don't think he really has much to lose by coming here.
  • He’s also got more European competition experience than like 99% of our squad

No Dobbo in the Wrexham squad. Off to Scotland?
And?? Seriously we need to get over Dobson. Club has moved on. Wrexham are moving on.
Yes he was great for us, but he wouldn’t get in this team.
He is a top end league one player like Doc.
Admin, if anyone suggests he is better than Cov, can we please put them on a ban..
I have instructed my son The Wolfboy to monitor Dobson's career closely, in preparation for his glorious return to Charlton, when he will captain us to promotion to the Premier League. By this point we will have no further use for Coventry and will arrange a free transfer for him to Sligo.

Will be handy for our 2028/29 Champions League campaign.

So Finland is in Scandinavia? Where do you place England, in the Balkans?

Seems DM is his best position but can also play more box to box or as an AM.

If you can message me what you think his best position is as well, that'll be appreciated

Hardly a fair comparison, a better one would be mistaking Eire for a part of the UK. Even that is a bit much, my guess would be that most people would mistakenly include Finland as in Scandinavian.
