Feel like if we were serious about Fevrier, it would have been done already, maybe one for the back burner should things not go to plan with other targets.

Bear in mind with Fev that Stockport have a new manager that might actually want to keep him , he wasn't a regular under Challinor.

Based upon his performances for us in the championship, he should definitely be wanted in a league 1 side.

    Bring me Holsgrove
A friend of mine knows Holsgrove. He told NJ he wasn’t interested despite Jones best efforts to sell the club and project.

He wants to play in Germany. However, I would  love him to change his mind
That’s fair, if you’re going to be playing in a team that’s getting battered most weeks might aswell do it against Kane and Olise rather than Burnley
I think people underestimate how much players look at how a team plays and if it will progress them as a player. Not many players will be ecstatic to join a side that concedes the lions share of posession, particularly away and don't create many clear cut chances.

Usually the only way to convince players is offering so much money they don't care too much about the result, or they're a bit desperate.

Specifically talking about midfielders and forwards here. We're a defenders dream to join, can put yourself right in the shop window and boost your reputation.
This is quite an interesting thought exercise then. Why would Charlie Kelman have joined us? Would he be on a mega wage? Is the rumoured 3.5m part of it (I doubt it was actually that high btw)?

He would have been hot property after a very good season in League One, he chooses a team stylistically dissimilar. Has NJ sold him the project, and that year one might be one thing, but years 2/3/4 are different? I think there's something in here about the long-term vision that you might not be considering Braz, but you're right tbf that right now we are still gonna be a more attractive proposition for defenders. Though I don't think we are as forlorn as you might think - Karlan Grant signing for us instead of staying on at WBA might be an indicator.
One thing you're underestimating... the ego of footballers.

Some will have the confidence In their ability, that they will be able to change the style of a team. Single handedly.

    Cheers gents.

I am of course referring to Stoke, Preston and Bristol City. Bang average sides that are pure gatekeeper teams in this league (respectfully, I wish we were them) and their spend on one player will probably match our budget this season and in some cases, last seasons.

Of course Boro don't fit that bill, but they're still in the same league as us, and they're spending big sums. Irrespective of if that was funded by player sales.

Bookies have us down as 2nd favourites to go down. On squad strength alone, I am struggling to identify 3 squads worse than ours with the exception of the newly promoted trio, two of which I expect to be almost on par with us before the season starts.

I just think it's going to be an extremely difficult season and 21st would be a hell of an achievement imo with our circumstances. (One of the lowest spending sides in the league with a lot of league 1 players still)

Joint third favs to go down. It goes Lincoln, Bolton and then us and Cardiff equal (Bet365).
They had us down to be relegated by Xmas last season look what happened not in the bottom 3 at all ….think Pompey and Blackburn will be below us as well … think second season is tougher then the first season cause your more known now .
They absolutely did not. Unlike you to make something up.
Every “expert “ …. Betting companies , social media sites had us down for relegation before the season started last year .. don’t need to make it up everyone saw it for themselves

No they didn't. We were 4th favourites to go down via the bookies (Sheffield Wednesday, Oxford and Hull ahead of us) and most Championship pundits and analysts thought we had a chance to survive and none said we were a sure thing to go down.

It's very different this season, as there aren't any teams with transfer embargos like Hull, or point deductions.

This is a far more difficult season to stay up.
Lincoln have lost their inspirational manager.
Cardiff have good youngsters, but aren't big spenders. They're only money is on their keeper, was on loan with them last season
Bolton were a mediocre side, who scraped up via the playoffs
Blackburn still have an awful owner.
Pompey will still be bottom 3rd of the table
West Brom and QPR won't be much better than they were last season etc

    You were saying.

Really not bothered. We paid 4.75 Million for Jason Euell in 2001 you have to remember. That almost matches that.

Try this one, The Ukrainians were an offshoot of the Wedding Present in the 80s,  Peter Solowka instigated this sideline (he's the bald one in the video) I used to go & see both bands whenever they played in London, good times  <3 The tune is Ukranian or Russian (probably the same thing back then) from the 1920s.

Back in the day The Ukranians released a four track ep recording of Smiths songs "Bigmouth Strikes Again", "The Queen Is Dead", "Meat Is Murder" & "What Difference Does It Make?"  :D Think I still have a cassette tape of it somewhere. Sorry this isn't a rumour  :#

They also did covers of the sex pistols "Anarchy in the UK", "Pretty Vacant", "God Save the Queen" & "Problems".

Shaping up to be a textbook charlton transfer window. Numerous players signed, some good, some bad, many with legs that don't work that well anymore.

And I wouldn't have it any other way.

There’s no point sugar coating this anymore. There’s a strong possibility money is tight & I suspect loans will be drafted in to plug the gap with our creative problems. We need to attract new fans to the valley and players that get you off your seat is a must.
We made an offer that would have broken our transfer record
    Source?
I'm sure it would already have been reported but apparently it was in the June edition of the Plymouth Herald

Nooooooo FFS not that one! Sign a better one!

    "we need a right back"

alternate universe where we spend money on a right back

Noooooo FFS stop wasting our precious money on right backs, we need to spend money on wingers you fools!

The club can't win with some of you I swear to God.

As it stands we need a first choice right winger, a first choice box to box midfielder, and depending on if they believe Coventry will look better with a top midfielder next to him, either a replacement for him or genuine competition in the holding midfield role.

On top of that, it would just be if we can further improve positions, Tanto and Kanu out and a championship striker in, Apter out and a second right winger in, that kind of thing

We still have 3 weeks to get things in motion
glad you're not the manager - i started the summer thinking we need a better first choice front 5/6
We already have Grant, a probable upgrade on TC, I mention RW, ST and both midfield roles, the only one I haven't explicitly stated is CAM, where between Knibbs, Carey and Fullah we are pretty well off.

I'm glad you're not the manager because if you had your way we'd probably have a player churn of 80% every year and be on a one way trip to admin
We need two new mids. If you are listening to NJ he says we need more flair at the top end. None of Knibbs, Carey or Fullah can offer 'more flair'. They were all there last season!!
2 new wingers add the flair.

Do you seriously think we'll sign 3 new midfielders to replace Carey, Docherty and Coventry? And 2 wingers? And a striker? On top of the 3 defenders we've already signed? Be realistic
If we don't we will go down. The midfield is the engine room of any team. Without an effective midfield, having extra wingers and strikers will mean next to nothing.
We just stayed up last season with Coady in it. If we start with the ones we have we will soon be done for.

I'd be surprised, if we mainly play 433/4231 this season, if we didn't keep Apter around as an option to play in his natural position. We coughed up over £2m for him 12 months ago, that's too big an investment for a club like us to throw away.
If Apter is still struggling in January, then we might have to loan him out again, but I think he's worth keeping for the first half of the season.
Apter is gash. No motivation. I doubt he will play for Charlton again.
Our player on the month first month last season. He’s not ‘gash’
Its amazing how people hang on to a handful of games as opposed to the evidence of the next nine months. As it happens, if we play 4 at the back he may stay as a reserve winger. That is probably above his level but we will not be able to sell him, so there you are.

I'm still wondering when he became gash... He was player of the month, then Josh got injured and so Rob was out the team. But Josh never came back. Then Rob went on a loan that didn't work out. When did he become such a bad player?

The evidence of the first games is all we have to go on - because he didnt feature after that. It makes more sense to say there is no evidence to say he is gash. All we saw was a player of the month... one bad (ish) half out of position at wing back, then thats it.

Aha but people cling onto Docherty’s good games against Ipswich ( he scored anyway) and Hull

We don't need to replace every single player in the side. It's also not realistic to. We stayed up last season with Carey, Docherty and Coventry playing the vast majority of the games, if we replace "only" 2 of the 3 we aren't automatically going down.

Piss off with your constant negativity

To be honest, you really don’t need to break the bank if you recruit correctly - sometimes you just need a bit of luck. Ebou Adams looked a ridiculously good signing when I saw him play for Pompey this calendar year, and he cost them 500k. Exactly what I thought we needed in cm as well.

Hope we've paid a fee for him otherwise the usual suspects will be slitting their wrists all over again.
Doesn't matter who or how good. Just has to be for a fee mate, you should know that.
Why ….. so if Haaland was on a free you would still moan cause we not paid a fee !!!!!
    Tongue in cheek mate...
