    Plus midfield is one area we absolutely need to get right first time, cant be worrying about "settling in" or adjusting to this league etc etc if the midfield is going to essentially make or break our season it might be better to pay more for that proven quality/experience.

    Agree.  Grant has proven Championship quality so it’s a tick for me if he’s recovered from injury and can add a few goals as well.  

    I think Mesik and Koumiento are sold buys and will improve the team.  Not sure about McNamara on the basis the fact he’s featured so little for Millwall over the last few years and had the ACL.  I like the fact he’s no nonsense and got a bit of fight in him, but for me I see him as the back up on the right hand side if we largely stick to 3 at the back.  For me, I still think we need that first choice RWB unless that’s now Alli (I know nothing about him).

    As for Alli, again, I presume this is a back up given Jones’ comments about not shopping in League One anymore and adding proven quality.  Perhaps that’s coming with some additional central midfielders, but there’s no way you can look at Alli and say proven quality.  This very much looks like the sort of signing we made last summer.  Nothing wrong with that if it pays off, but for me, of the 2025 league one cohort, only Kelman and Carey delivered.  Jury is still out on Knibbs (needs to prove himself), and Apter and Olaofe didn’t deliver.  We can only judge Alli when he starts, but I rate our window about 6 out of 10 so far.

    3 weeks away from the first game. Not panicking but we really need those two midfielders in.

    With all these long contracts we ought to be competitive in League One if we’re relegated.

    Becoming seriously underwhelmed. 

    Yet another League One player (yes, I know he spent 4 months at Pompey last season) and we know how that has turned out last season.....half went out on loan to League One clubs.

    I'd like to have the optimism some of you have. I really would. But so far it seems to just be more of the same. No signings that make you think WOW.

    I just want two midfielders. Not one. Two.  Please. God. Don't make me spend another season watching Doc and Cov.

    What concerns me the most is that we were really under pressure towards the end of last season with the possibility of relegation staring us in the face and that was with a fantastic start which built up a buffer of points. I can’t see that start happening this season with the squad we currently have as the new signings apparently need to get up to speed. I’m always optimistic but I genuinely think we could be in trouble this season

    Curtis said NJ was going home. Curtis also revealed he lives in the north east, quite the commute

    This next 2 midfield signings are crucial ;-)

    in all seriousness, we need to announce one bloody good signing in the centre of midfield now.  I might be over egging it, but if we don’t announce someone of proven quality in this position, we’re in for a long season.  I really hope we’ve got one lined up and sooner rather than later

    Grant is also older.  Both his and Alli's contracts end when they are 30

    Despite us not splurging Koumetio, Mesik, McNamara and Grant were all necessary positions where perhaps we may have not needed starting XI quality because the alternatives are quite good but make great squad additions happy with that. 

    However that should have left a decent budget especially w players exiting as well to go and sign 2 midfielders and a Right winger and at the end of the day we needed quality>quantity that hasn’t happened yet. Still have time but would have liked us to get the essentials done first backups later opposed to vice versa

    Last summer everyone was raving about our recruitment pre season…lots of excitement around Apter, Olaofe & Knibbs etc but in the end the majority failed to step up & impress.

    This year the consensus is that the window has (so far) been a little underwhelming, so hopefully we’ll see the opposite & be pleasantly suprised!

    The two defenders (Koumetio especially) look solid buys. 🤞

    Dont you usually have to play in about 75% of recent games or something like that?

    Yup it's 75% of recent games. Wouldn't qualify under the standard rules but absolutely fine under the GBE rules

    2 central midfielders to replace Coventry and Docherty and that will be that.

    Possibly a prem loan or two at the end of the window.

    Unfortunately with Holsgrove its not for want of trying from the club by the sound of things.

    There seems to be a lot of posters that forget how good Docherty was in the last two months of the season. He show Championship quality at times but we know his passing game isn't the best.

    We are missing that player that can put in the killer pass or just keep the team going forward from central midfield. Another Cullen or Gallagher is what we need and that would almost certanly have to be a punt on a loan from a Premier League team.

    One of our best signings from last season was Carey who hadn't played above L1 level previously and we'd got mixed opinions from Blackpool fans.

    Only time will tell but nothing to say Alli can't make a similar step up

    I agree Docherty played well towards the back end of the season. 
    That's largely down to the fact he was playing with Coady and not Coventry. 
    Docherty and Coventry just doesn't work.
