Always thought that Jeff Wood was on a par with Nicky Johns. Both had some spectacular games.DennisBooth said:I was a big fan of Charlie Wright. But Nicky Johns was a superb keeper. At the other end of the scale I would put Thuram and Mick Rose.
Johns v Chelsea as previously mentioned, probably the finest goalkeeping display I've ever seen, and also Jeff Wood in the super nervous 0-0 draw at Orient in the last game of the season to save us from relegation.2 -

Well last season Southampton loaned Brereton Diaz to Derby. So there are decent players in that kind of position on the loan market every summer.0 -
Could we be keeping some money back should anything change with Holsgrove so going for a RW loan.1

Is anything close for a right wing loan mate. Would assume it’s from a premier league side/Europe with an option to buy?stjohnshill said:Timmy had his medical on Friday.Next position to address as we all know is the RW. As things stand, it looks it will be a loan that comes in at RW
I know I bang on non stop about him but JRS is so obviously the best fit for us here.10 -
All I said was a tiny bit of wee came out!fenaddick said:

The prospect of Ouma joining Charlton has already sparked excitement among the club's supporters, with many expressing admiration for his passing range and midfield prowess after reviewing his performance clips online.2 -
Portsmouth have confirmed the Abu Kamara signing. Not fussed tbh.6

Is the New Zealand lad from Silkeborg actually in the frame or is that one a non rumour ?stjohnshill said:Timmy had his medical on Friday.Next position to address as we all know is the RW. As things stand, it looks it will be a loan that comes in at RW0 -
More rumours, less GK chat please.
I want gossip about who else might leave permanently, which youngsters are going on loan, which other Kenyans are on their way and hear about random European based players who may or may not sign.9 -
Ouma looks good from those five minutes of videos clips. Apologies if it has been mentioned before, but he was wearing the number 16 shirt which we currently have vacant. It’s happening!SteveACS said:

All this goalkeeper chat ... I can't believe that Steve Brown hasn't been mentioned.
He never lets you down.5 -

So, either we have decided we cannot get anyone we want permanent for the budget we have, or we have decided to apply that budget to the keeping department to ensure the Kaminski replacement is an upgrade.0 -
RW loan being mentioned will bring up the usual names that have been mentioned on this thread all summer. Would be surprised if it's any of them0
-
Ouma would take our squad size up to 27 so we need to shift 3 out to bring in the right winger
Asiimwe and Kanu will be 2 of them
One of them will be Docherty or Costello
Once we have signed a RW and got rid of the 3, I think that might be our business complete but I could still see a 1 in 1 out scenario with Kaminski or maybe a Leaburn loan. If we wanted to upgrade either GK or ST and the right player became available1 -
Dont think he's ever been genuinely linked to us, he's only been linked with "Championship clubs"ShootersHillGuru said:

Loans allow us to get a player we probably wouldn’t be able to afford normally. Bringing in a prem youngster would work in our favour as they would likely be the starting playerPudds said:stjohnshill said:Timmy had his medical on Friday.Next position to address as we all know is the RW. The social media team logging on and realising we now have two Kenyans on our books

Seems to me if we are getting a RW loan means holsgrove is on8

Takes it up to 28 not 27 plus a winger makes it 29. Means 4 have to go Asiimwe, Kanu, JRC/Doc/Coventry and then potentially TC probably the most likely scenariosNabySarr said:Ouma would take our squad size up to 27 so we need to shift 3 out to bring in the right winger

This has been a see saw ride of a pre season - this time last week we had just lost to reading and the club was up for sale - a week later and we’ve signed the classiest CM we’ve had at the club possibly ever and a Kenyan box to box powerhouse 🤞- we’ve also just smashed Cheltenham scoring 3 exceptional goals - if the pattern is to continue I can only think we’re about to lose TC,Ramsay and Jones then sign Rak Saki and Holgrove6
-
We also have Apter, and Alli, so there's already cover.Pudds said:stjohnshill said:Timmy had his medical on Friday.Next position to address as we all know is the RW. As things stand, it looks it will be a loan that comes in at RW

Of all the rumours and links this one never got me excited - not sure why as I have no idea what he’s like - a bit like all the other rumoured players tbh - the fact Portsmouth were after him or favourites to sign him was always a turn off - bothered, no.thenewbie said:
Does stink of agent playing games. Probably would have been a decent signing but most likely was using us to chase the preferred choice of Portsmouth.mart77 said:Portsmouth have confirmed the Abu Kamara signing. Not fussed tbh.0 -

Forgot Chalobah. Yes sadly means TC probably on his way out, if he stays then maybe Apter goes out on loan? Think it will have to be one of them as the 4th exitCrispywood said:

The best individual save I ever saw from a Charlton goalkeeper was from John Dunn at the covered end on the 3rd November 1973 in a 0-0 draw with Wrexham.
I swear our crowd must’ve clapped him for about five minutes after saving what seemed like a nailed on certain goal.
Anybody else remember that?1
