Timmy had his medical on Friday.

Next position to address as we all know is the RW. As things stand, it looks it will be a loan that comes in at RW
Nathan, we don't need to save dry powder for a loan man!
If the man you require isn’t available you keep your powder dry. Surely over the years we’ve bought rashly and it’s expensive error

Why McNamara looked good on Saturday
What happens if/when he gets injured?
One of Sichenje, Asiimwe or even Mesik fills in.
What if Ramsay, McNamara, Sichenje, Asiimwe and even Mesik are all injured?
Phoenix Valentine, a good prospect and an even better name.

As an aside I feel a bit uncomfortable with the relish some posters show in dissing Coventry and Docherty, two players that have served us well.
Incomers might prove to be better players, but Coventry and Docherty ought to be respected.
Watch again Docherty ‘orchestrating’ the winner at Wembley. For that alone he earns my gratitude.
I agree - they have both done brilliant service for us and I’d like to see them both stay but we certainly need the additional options in there that we now seem to be adding - rotation is going to be a word heard a lot more this year i think

I really hope we’re still in for Holsgrove. Having him, Chalobah and Ouma fighting for two spots would be an amazing step up on last year. If that happens, I think Doc would have to go, leaving JRC and Cov, plus Mwamba (who doesn’t count towards the 25) to provide cover.

Along with Doc, I’d also be looking to release Burke. Jones and Billy are first choice, with Collins and Bell as their back-up, while Mesik and Ramsay can also play there if needed.

Lastly, if we bring in a RW, I think it probably means TC is on his way. I’d keep him, but he’s not a RW - Saturday showed that. We already have two players who can play LW, and the fact is we’ll probably get £3m for him, which makes the decision a little easier.

Find it hilarious how people think the club can just release a player just like that 🤣

Costello can play multiple positions. He is someone that will benefit from playing with Chalobah or Mwamba because they will complement he's weakness on the ball or in terms of how we build up.

You keep Doc around for driving standards and for the games that we need more endeavour or we are looking to grind out wins.

I personally would like someone that gives us more control in games so would not be against both going. That job will probably have to be Chalobah or Mwamba. At least now we should see some control in games and have options in there that can solve problems and give us more flexibility in how we play. Ouma will be a fun one to watch.

Hopefully the RW slot being a loan means that TC is staying.
Loans still count in squad numbers unless under 21
    I think even under 21?

10 lols on this when this is exactly the sort of ludicrous scenario that would only happen to us

To fit in with squad registration rules if we’re focusing on the double pivot we’re ideally going to need 4 senior players to play their + Mwamba which will likely be Chalobah Ouma Doc and Cov.

Burke isn’t going anywhere you need him for squad cover with Bell/Koumetio/Sichenje having injury issues themselves and when he is fit he’s a very good squad player also no one else is going to take him off us.

A RW probably would suggest either TC or Apter on their way my guess would be TC personally.

    3 Keepers
    2 RB’s
    2 LB’s
    5 CB’s
    4 Pivot Mids (+Mwamba)
    2 CAM’s
    2 RW’s
    2 LW’s
    3 Strikers (+Mbick)

25 man squad rules followed, 27 man squad overall which Carter suggested

Maybe we should have a 250 man squad with 10 players in every position just to cover all potential scenarios, Friedman is a billionaire after all!

I don’t think anyone is slagging them off personally .  If they are , they deserve no credibility whatsoever .  Docherty (in my opinion) just isn’t very good .  Coventry , let’s see .  He was replaced by an old central defender last season- maybe he was carrying a knock.

The Kaminski rumours seem to be a reaction to him not being in the squad from Saturday.
seems odd nothing was out there before that

No they are not. They are a reaction to a post on a Sparta Rotterdam site.

When I said release Burke, I meant try and shift him on, even if that means a loan where we cover a large percentage of his wages, as we’ve done with Ahadme.

In my opinion, we have enough cover at CB, and I’d rather not waste a slot in the 25-man squad on someone who is unlikely to play much and, when he does, will probably pick up another injury.

It’s probably a moot point anyway, as I’m not convinced we’ll bring in Ouma, Holsgrove and a RW.

And very much needed!  A lot of our key players fell off badly in the second half of the season due to the intensity they were required to play at, with not much (if any) respite.

    • TC was the only attacking / ball carrying option with any pace so was over played
    • Carey was the only option in attacking midfield for long periods due to Knibbs' injury (maybe Fuller should have played more)
    • Coventry was the only DM option until Coady came in to lighten the load
    • Bell didn't get a rest (unless injured)
The above are where not having good enough backup players in the squad really hurts you as you cant be anywhere near as strong when one of them is taken out.

We have much more strength in depth this year so hopefully we can rotate a bit more and maintain performance levels

I liked it when we were linked with this guy...was fun while it lasted...seemed like half the Championship had a Japanese or Korean playing for them last season (still haunted by Portsmouth away!)

So you genuinely think Burke adds the same value to this squad as Ahadme?

In a 4 back Burke will be our 4th best/natural option behind Jones Koumetio and Sichenje.

Koumetio can’t stay fit, Sichenje we have no proof can stay fit, we may need to even throw Sichenje at RB if it comes down to it, Burke will be needed at some point.

Yes he is horribly injury prone but that doesn’t make him a bad option when he is there.

To be fair, Kaminski being left out JUST before this link appears might make it more plausible than one that totally came out of nowhere. I think we're stuck with him honestly but it doesn’t seem completely impossible.

Hold on! According to the mate who's Lec Poznan fan, he's rubbish and always turns up to training late. We're skint again!  ;)
