They could do that next year... TC signs for Udinese for free, we get no compensation because he signs for a club outside of England... Instantly gets loaned to Watfordkillerandflash said:

Some people are so overwhelmingly positive about everything Charlton, they'll verbally assault you online to prove it.sillav nitram said:

You know when you can just picture a player in a kit, I have pictured TC in a Watford or QPR kit a few times and said he would do well at either.Callumcafc said:Irankunda going to Sporting. Could Watford look at TC as a potential replacement?1 -
I was only saying that people shouldn’t be written off . Apter has never player in his best position for us . He was quite good in a few games as wing back , and then dropper off . Wingers are confidence players and not many of them play well all the time .NabySarr said:
Backed him in league 1 being the key phrase. If Apter has lost his confidence then I’m not sure chucking him back into the championship is the best next step. Especially if he’s not going to get many minutes with a new signing coming in and Alli able to play on the rightwmcf123 said:
TC flopped before Jones backed him in league one . Many backed him to be released .NabySarr said:
He flopped in league 1 last season in his proper position. Nathan Jones will have seen plenty of both and it’s quite clear which one he rates higher. Don’t think it’s really a debate tbh, if we can keep TC then we should, even if that means Apter is surplus to requirements againwmcf123 said:
We’ve never seen Apter play in his proper position .NabySarr said:
TC is better than Apter though. If we can keep TC I’d rather do that and lose ApterSteveACS said:
Apter... we already have 2 right wingers.NabySarr said:
He put a couple of good balls in from the right in pre-season. You are right he’s much better on the left thoughgolfaddick said:
Only if we play him on the left. He has done nothing on the right to show that he will either...eastterrace6168 said:Campbell signing and extension must be regarded as a positive..
1) put a cross in for our loan striker to attack
2) cut onto his left & shoot.
I can see us trying to shoehorn him into the team by starting him on the right & like last Sat have to switch him with Grant or Alli after 30 mins.
As @Berkshire1970 said above.....I'd rather take £3m now & use that money on a proper Right winger.
Alli has played on the right a fair bit in his career. So I think we can have a new right winger and Alli on the right, Grant and TC on the left
No reason why we can’t keep TC and also sign a new right winger. £3m won’t get you much anyway, which is why we are probably looking at the loan market for the winger position anyway
A good loan for Apter in league 1 could then mean he’s ready to step into our squad next season and replace the loan RW we have this seasonIf we lose TC then yes we will probably have to keep Apter around. If we could keep TC though, then Apter can go to league 1 and hopefully regain his confidence before he has another go at the championship0 -

Preston don’t have any money, it’s just fluff from Risdale

Mate I’m not sure that’s totally correct lol this forum is a snapshot of society! Some view everything with suspicion and gloom and others see stuff in a positive way. It’s all about balance I think. I have been called overly positive on here a few times just because I don’t think NJ should be sacked ! The owners told to do one or that we won’t get relegated this season. All just different viewpoints mateBraziliance said:

Thought I’d come back and add to this as have had some more information re TC, and I’d always want others to share if they knew something going on at the club - so only fair I do the same (and risk the backlash if it turns out to be wrong lol).JoshAddick said:
Don’t want to put my head on the chopping block here in case something has changed haha but as of last week TC has no interest in leaving.ButtleJR said:
Judging by the Preston forums I wouldn't be so sure! Is that something you've heard?JoshAddick said:TC is not going anywhere.
As I said before, TC has no real interest in leaving. He likes the club, is settled, I don’t think he wants to move too far from home, and he has a good relationship with Jones.
Problem seems to be around the contract renewal which I’m sure most people have worked out.
He signed his previous deal at a time where he was fairly insignificant to us (most of us probably wouldn’t have batted an eye had he have been released) and whilst he got a payrise when we got promoted, he feels his salary probably doesn’t really line up with where it should and wants a few extra k per week.
As a little bit of context on this, his wage per week is lower than the Lisbie brother at Reading - nevermind some of the wingers at this level.
I’m not taking it as TC having ridiculous demands, don’t think he’s that type anyway tbh. He’s probably just fully aware of what other clubs would be willing to pay him.
In all honesty, I think he’d take a slightly lower salary here than at Preston, for example, just to stay with us - just can’t be significantly lower like it currently is.
Have absolutely no idea what the clubs stance is on this, whether they don’t want to match TC’s demands and therefore want to cash in, or if they’re playing the long game hoping his demands drop, on that I haven’t got a clue at all.
All I really know is, if TC goes, it’s not because he’s forced a move.
Just passing on what I’ve heard. Apologies if he now goes and signs for Preston tomorrow lol.

If that’s the case we really should just give him what he wants. An extra 5k on top of what we would offer him is roughly 750k over a 3 year deal we let him go free and we lose millionsJoshAddick said:

The club and TC are both entitled to seek the best contract possible but I hope a mutually benefical deal can be reached to keep him here.
My fear is some within the club see a quick sale as a win.7 -

Maybe, but it’s all guesswork, we’ve no idea what signing on fees there were. There are so many factors that it’s impossible for us to make an informed guess.Scoham said:
I expect Grant will be on a big wage, but who else? Chalobah probably.SouthLincsAddick said:
Thing is, we don’t know for sure, either way. I think we’re paying a lot more in wages this year which soon adds up, wouldn’t be surprised if a couple of players are on over £1m a year. Fees paid are split over the length of the contract and the money is not completely written off as some players will command a fee when sold. Trying to estimate all this is impossible.J BLOCK said:
No chance IMOShootersHillGuru said:
With bigger wages and signing on fees I doubt we’re that far short of last summers outlay already. Enough in reserve I suspect for the right player.J BLOCK said:We should still be expecting a decent outlay on at least one player. Carter told us we'd be spending more this summer than last.
Signing players from a relegated Dutch club and Dundee doesn’t scream big wages and fees to me.
McNamara? Maybe, but could easily be on a below average Champ wage.
Alli and Ouma don’t seem likely to be big earners.
Still feels to me like we’re not spending as much as last season. Hopefully the recruitment works out better and some of last summers signings like Knibbs show more than they have so far.3 -
Would be an interesting one as he can also play RWB as well if we needed to switch shapesAberystwythAddick said:0 -
TC would probably command a 5 figure wage from Preston now or other championship clubs this summer. We really should be able to compete with that level and it’s worrying if we can’t
Hopefully just a case of us playing hardball and we will get him signed soon. The problem is if he starts the season well the number and the amount of interest will only go up0 -

That still doesn't make sense. The only way they can improve their financial situation is to sell some players. Their losses will be higher ths season as they were relegated. Keeping the same players, on the same wages, is sleep walking into administration.North Lower Neil said:

It won’t be the same wages, they’ll have decreased upon relegation. I think they’re hoping to bounce back, if that does look likely they will hope to bank more money in the tough January marketSteveACS said:

They aren’t financially mudded they’re just under an embargo for over spending unfortunately they really don’t need to sell Mills so they can hold out for a good feeSteveACS said:

He is worth at least 10-12k a week at this level and I suspect that might be enough to convince him based on your post.
Over the course of 3 years, that's 1.5 million. We are never getting a player of TCs potential for that money.2 -

If the player wants the move we all know that it’s very difficult for the club to hang onto a player that’s had his head turned. They can of course but it’s pointless holding onto someone who wants out and is pissed off.Crispywood said:
