Super start to March, so let's march on up the table .. great to see Kelman scoring, I had lost all faith in him
Mostly, thank the Lord for Jones, Ramsay and Bell, one of the best defence trios in the division
Lastly, I don't hold out too much hope that we can sign Harry Clarke on a permanent deal in the summer. He is one of the best loanees we have ever had and if he costs a lot and wants to join us, please splash the cash
He’s just the sort of signing we should be making for next season. Much will rely on where Ipswich find themselves next season I think. It could be that they are prepared to loan him out again if no acceptable bids come in.

Harry Clarke's contract runs until the end of June 26 so we then get into the '12 month extension option'

As Harry has been at CAFC since January, plus a loan at Sheffield United in '25', I can't see how he would trigger an extension as far as Ipswich are concerned.

I agree Guru, Harry is just the signing we should be making for next season as he is a passionate player who likes a Charlton celebration even before the ball have gone over the line !
I was in the upper West and when he had that chance in the box on the far side I and others were celebrating for a split second in a HC manner.

Over the moon with the result and whilst it is never going to be like watching 2008 Barcelona that was a real flinty and worthy defensive performance

Lloyd Jones, granted I'm biased because he plays for us and I like him. Another huge performance ably assisted by Bell and Ramsay. Mannion coming and dominating his box takes so much pressure off

Our midfield worked hard and pressed with a good intensity all game.

Birmingham looked average and I don't know if they are mentally fragile at losing a couple of games back to back or just not as good as their budget suggests they should be but I thought whilst we don't have loads of possession we were the team who had more intent

    Couple of little extras

    1) Lloyd Jones did really well not to react/follow up on that striker that left one in on him and floored him. If he'd been booked it would have been a suspension. Its "just" being a pro, I guess....but still.

    2) Kelman cupping his ears at Brum. His dad is from Birmingham,  right? Maybe a Villa fan?

    COYR!
    Nathan Jones 100% support

Louis Mendez suggested to Nathan that the guy who floored Lloyd Jones in the first half should have been shown red.  Nathan became very animated saying, 'And thats before the other nine offences ... which he later moderated to five or six.

Nathan said that he constantly pointed this out to the fourth official who couldn't see it.  Nathan concluded that he (himself) obviously knows nothing about football.

Back in the studio they said that Nathan Jones was being very .... Nathan Jones  :)
Dykes started it all with a challenge off the ball in the first minute in front of East Stand near halfway line. Amazed he didn’t get a card, totally unnecessary. That set of the following retaliations from his victim

His contract expires in the summer so it’s not up to Ipswich the decide.  Obv he might get better offers elsewhere that we don’t / can’t match.
Thought they had another year option on him?

Thought Brum support was really good yesterday and ours was a bit lame , poor numbers and noise from us until we got a goal , matters not because the end result is everything .

Birmingham fans started the first half well, then quiet after 10/15. Raised the volume again when the picked up 2nd half, but largely just ok.

I was sat nearer the covered end but thought we sang throughout but obv biased due to positioning.

Massive 3 points. Defensively we were immense with all 3 CB’s putting in MOTM performances. Like last week you can’t fault the desire and work rate of them, which is all you can ask for. 12 clean sheets this season is something to be proud of.

We know we lack the quality at this level in the final 3rd so was great to see the quality of Kellman’s finish. 2 more wins and we can all start looking forward to Tottenham and Lincoln next season.

I’m middle west lower slightly nearer away end , felt the quietest and lowest (15k) home fans we have had for a Saturday 3pm all season.

Charlie was born in Basildon, Essex and his mum is English.
Kelman only went to Texas for his dad's work from 4-10 and again at 14 when he played youth football for a year in Dallas before coming back to play in the Southend academy.
Kelman senior became an American citizen, hence why Charlie qualifies to play for the US of A.

If Charlie's dad is a Brummie ? that would explain why he wanted to escape!

I don’t like owners/directors/executives in and around dressing rooms. I’m sure in this case it’s innocent as NJ wouldn’t stand for anything else but it stinks of meddling/spying for the board

I thought Clarke's contract was up this year, although Ipswich might have a year option on it. Tbh if they get promoted I don't see why they'd exercise the option. I think he fits our system well but not really McKenna's, and I'd imagine they'd be looking to upgrade that spot if they are promoted.
They do have an option. If they get promoted and don’t require him in the PL they will still exercise the option to ensure they get a fee for him.

Under the current laws, whichever captain wins the toss can choose which end to attack, or if they wish to take the kick-off. If they choose to take the kick-off, then the loser of the toss would choose which end to attack.

We took the kick off in the first half, which means Birmingham won the toss, and had the choice of which end to attack. I can't imagine we'd win the toss and be desperate to take the first half kick off.
Thanks for clarifying. It was a bunch of Brum fans on the post match thread on reddit saying that we’d turned them around. I did think it was strange ..

He cupped his ears because Brum fans do that cringe shouting of “WHO?” every time a player is substituted.

Maybe they'll be nice to us after the money they collected for Ahadme & Fraser, an apology if you will

Maybe but for me the dressing room is for players, coaches and physios. It's their space to do what they want without having to worry about higher ups. Those spaces are important

Pressure piled back onto bottom 4, arguably 5 with our now 5 point gap to Blackburn. Strange things do happen but we would now need two of those relegation threatened to enjoy a storming uptick in consistent good form while we would need to have a nightmare to season end - not going to happen, we are all but safe. The sooner we can now get to 50 the better as I think NJ will take more risks and play more ball with JRC and Kelman getting a late run.

Well done lads and fans - unified and bouncing off one another. 🔴⚽️⚪️

As part of the SMT I expect he's allowed to go anywhere he likes and going to congratulate the team on a win is good for morale and is saying we're all in it together.

Fen, you do realize that Rodwell was hands on with big Phil Chapple and Nathan in getting many of the Summer and winter signings in and that wasn't in the dressing room area.

It's not spying for the board but of course he reports back to the owners and backers of CAFC; That's his Job !

All of which can be done outside of the dressing room/tunnel. I'm not saying he shouldn't know the players and have a relationship with him. We've now seen him pitchside talking to NJ and in the tunnel this season. I just don't think it's necessary when he can talk to them at the training ground, in any lounges at the stadium etc. He of course has to have a relationship with players and report to the board, I just don't think that's the right location

Not that I care ... but, Birmingham turned up with some attitude today.

Turning round the KO, taking an age on every dead ball situation, feigning injury.

I often look at other teams with envy at the talent at their disposal, but if they can't add a bit of 'Charlton' heart and soul to that, it ain't worth a light.
I was listening to the Birmingham commentary. They were very kind to that idiot Priska, and at the end they were referring to Charlton employing the dark arts to win, which given some of their antics, was a very strange take. Just made the win sweeter.
