He said they were going up Tuesday night to stay over. Afterwards he said Thursday would be the recovery day, I wasn't sure if he meant they would go back Wed eve and have Thurs off or that they would travel back Thurs and not do anything else. He mentioned we aren't one of the teams that can afford to fly, so it's a coach there and backFortune 82nd Minute said:The scheduling of our longest away trip 3 days before a 12.15 ko is nuts. The mechanics of the teams travel fascinates me. Do they travel up Tuesday and stay the night or go up on the Wednesday? If the latter, however they choose to travel - even flying - is going to mean a relatively early start.
Do they stay up there after the game and have a relatively comfortable journey back on the Thursday? If they come back after the match, I doubt anyone will be back in bed much before 4am. Hardly the perfect preparation for a game in 2 days time. Either way leaves only one full day preparation for the vital Oxford game.
Anyone know what the team is actually doing as regards travelling?1 -
Remember leaving the Riverside that day convinced we were on to something special.mascot88 said:

Sigh
Romnedahl looked brilliant …. Murphy and Smertin were a top class midfield pairing. And we had a 20 goal a season prem striker.11 -

Not really sure what to expect bar we'll probably sit in try and keep it compact and give them tons of possession before trying to nick something last 20 if we manage to keep it tight.
Was very very impressed by them first half at The Valley , probably the best team I've seen so far this season , TK stopped it being a cricket score. Hellberg seems to be a very impressive coach.
I'd take a boring 0-0 right now but suspect 2-0 Boro is more realistic.0 -
Are we wearing the fish n chips kit?2

Good preview FA.
I’ve been a bit of a Boro fanboy this season and I can’t remember the last time I’ve mentally wrote off a game beforehand.
But their strength of possession playing through midfield coincides with our weakness.I foresee a bad one tonight.1 -
Well at least Pompey lost last night but Leicester won.
A nice hard earned point would be fantastic?
We often come up with something special against all the odds in these games so who knows?
0-0 to the Addicks......0 -
Would like to see some players rested for this one as Oxford is a huge game. Can see us nicking a point or maybe even doing an Ipswich on them, knowing Charlton we win tonight and lose on Saturday1

Yeah I was thinking similarly... we'll draw this evening and nailed on loss on Sat.TD_Addick said:Would like to see some players rested for this one as Oxford is a huge game. Can see us nicking a point or maybe even doing an Ipswich on them, knowing Charlton we win tonight and lose on Saturday0 -

Not expecting anything from tonight BUT these are the types of encounters which Charlton can often surprise/shock us with better than expected results.

I talked to our "Valley Express from Ramsgate" coach driver when he dropped me after the Brum game, hadn't seen him before. He said he always drives the team coach to the away games and they nearly all involve an overnight stay (which includes him) and some a hotel before and after the game. That will include this Boro away game, and will include Oxford before the game.Fortune 82nd Minute said:The scheduling of our longest away trip 3 days before a 12.15 ko is nuts. He also added that it (surprisingly) includes some local derbys. I suppose with the traffic levels we get these days they cant afford to get stuck in a silly traffic jam and be late.3 -
Lots of opinions about Jones being "rested", OK time for a poll..

I’d take a loss today if it means no injuries and get to keep the side fresh for Saturday0
-
Just hope we don't get battered tonight - GD may be significant.
Important not to concede early....2 -

I know at least two fans travelling up today.
A true badge of honour effort.
All of our fans who make it there are admirable, win lose or draw I hope Nathan and the players recognise that.
The best way to do so would be keeping a clean sheet.3 -

I'd like to see Dykes, Campbell, Leaburn and Kelman get 45 minutes each. They all should be fresh for Oxford that way.1
-
if driving back tomorrow they'd be better off going straight to Oxford for a couple of nights and a bit of training somewhere more local2
-
I’m thinking this is a free hit . I’d be happy avoiding a big defeat , injuries or a Yellow to Jones . In fact I’d probably not start him because of that .3-1 defeat ( Carey)0
-
The longer we keep them from scoring the more nervy everyone will get in the ground, especially with Millwall getting so close to them.0

Better to equalise first and then try and stop them from scoring their goal.

No reason why we shouldn’t at least get a draw. We’ve actually looked a very solid team the last few games. Unlucky against Wrexham but very deserved win against Brum. With the number of clean sheets we’ve had , Boro won’t find it easy !1

It’s an omen I’m in Osaka Japan and the duo are singing valley ffoyd road (oh ok mull of kintyre but I was singing it.4

I wont be surprised if we see a similar attempt at a defensive performance to the one we put in at Southampton, Ipswich and Sheffield United - The longer we keep Middlesbrough out, the more chance we have of nicking something... And if we can do it first, like what we did at Portman Road, we might stand a chance of stealing all three points with a greater scoreline as it'll force them to be more open.I just see this as being the hardest attempt at emulating those games. Two results from the next few days would be pretty ideal... Win the Home Games / Draw the Away Games.I've got Beaver Scouts to run beforehand, the last time I made such a sacrifice we beat Stoke5
-
Would love a 0-0. Would be ecstatic at a win. I really hope Jones avoids a yellow as we need him for the Oxford game and Norwich at home as I think we can win this at the valley.0

I wish to "like" your post without expressing an opinion on whether we should rest Jones. How can I do that?eastterrace6168 said:Lots of opinions about Jones being "rested", OK time for a poll..
